Those who put up with the distorted audio and occasional picture sticking on Sky were rewarded in injury time with the longest buffering of the match in injury time. Just as we were cursing Leahy for clipping a lazy cross to the keeper, the picture froze with the camera behind the ball in the air. After a couple of seconds we starting thinking, hang on, that's sneaking in the far post, followed by what seemed like an age hoping for an explosion of noise when the pictures returned. The pictures returned to an explosion of noise and people wheeling around the pitch like lunatics.
It reminded me of the scene at the end of 'Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country' where Kirk and Spock fire their last missile speculatively in the general direction of a cloaked Klingon ship. 'To be or not to be' says General Chang as he watches the missile drift towards him.
The film ends with the Starship Enterprise winning the League and Fa Cup double.
Have been watching the clips of the celebrations again and again. The sheer joy is just a wonderful thing to behold. Matt Bloomfield and Richard Kone running up the byline but the first person to meet Luke Leahy’s knee-slide is Shamal George. I’m sure he’d like to be playing but the fact he’s in the middle of the celebrations speaks a lot about his character.
I once considered calling a fanzine ‘Camaraderie’ in the Martin O’Neill days. We’ve got bucket loads of it right now and it’s magical to see.
Good posts both from you and @WanderingDays - I had been going off something as simple as how much Kone celebrated when the Ivory Coast won the AFCON, as he certainly still seemed to be enthusiastic about his country.
Like most of us I have watched the goal about 100 times (the best version with @bluntphil on comms of course). Just love watching Luke's body language as he hits it, shoulders droop and he does a slow trot towards the middle of the pitch, then checks himself, then sprints like a loon. Pretty much my emotional curve.
Seeing we had to endure Posh fans insisting that mishit cross was actually an intentional bit of skill, we can claim the footballing genius Luke Leahy intended to lob their keeper with a lob nonchalantly disguised as a cross.
I personally celebrated like we won the league and so did everyone around me on the terrace. I still don't have my full voice back!! I celebrated as much as I did at Wimbledon away and Leicester away in the FA Cup. It was a fluke.... but no one cared. That last gasp win was up there for me keeping the winning streak alive with some of the all time great wins. Mansfield were great... bit special times are here for us!
We can get our arses in the championship again if we carry this on. If ML and Co want progression and more reason for young lads to want to join our new academy.... surely our owners can and will dip in to find those half a million reasons?
You can spend a chunk of change on a player if you feel that player is going to deliver a return. Peterborough have not shied away from spending large sums for young players that are more developed than the rough diamonds we have shopped for in the past. They also do a very good job of developing them further and selling them for handsome profit. Of course a return can be in the form of performances that elevate you up the leagues but our model will hopefully be financially leaning when we look at transfer fees.

@Shev Seems like that was you talking to your resident genie after giving that lamp a bit of a rub…

Let's hope we can Klingon to top spot
@LX1 - I have never before been so interested in Star trek. Did they play Everton away in the third round?
4 wins to safety.
If we keep up this winning streak relegation fears will be gone before Xmas
They made a lot of noise too, especially for a cold Tuesday night.
Beam me up, Scotty McGleish
Would be great to bring out the 'We are staying up!' chant. British humour at its finest.

Interesting that though Mansfield had our number physically, we weren't emphatically out-battled
I was transported to a place of great joy when the goal went in.
May this winning sequence live long as we continue to prosper.
Make it most certainly so!
And there's no one else at Step 6 either.
Not going any further down than that, I promise.
50th goal of the season last night, by the way.
I make that our first home stoppage-time winner since March 2022 (McCarthy vs Fleetwood). That can't be right, can it?!
*in the league

Ultimately a question for him only, of course.
Luke's fluke brought back memories of us at Wembley this year, and a similar winning goal for the Posh by Harrison Burrows.
also Oxford's goal against us in the play off final
After three 1-0 losses on the bounce, you have to feel for Mansfield, with their fixture list for December (after Stevenage away in the FA Cup):
But the turn of the year doesn't look any easier...
Then the pressure eases... Wycombe (H) on 18 January 😱
The only that negates some of my sympathy for Mansfield is that this was another rearranged fixture, and one that cost us money as the home team.
We are now 2 for 2 after the Stockport rearranged match.

I keep watching Morley’s reaction. He loved it and must be a sign he’s true of happy here.
As soon as the window opens, we need to trigger his release clause if he has one. Absolutely no reason not to.

I can think of half a million reasons why we might not be able to though
There's nothing to stop us triggering it, although nothing to stop other clubs from doing the same... 😬
But I'm not worried either way, our recruitment strategy seems absolutely top notch.
