Normally a Tuesday night in November would feel like a chore, but not having been to a Wycombe game for a month and a chance to see the champions elect, I'm properly excited. COYB!
It's a testament to how incredibly well we've done that you'd be forgiven for strolling up Hillbottom Road this evening almost expecting a convincing win. This is another litmus test, not just because of the strength of the opposition but because we've set the benchmark for the rest of the league and are well and truly up there to be shot at. Being a front runner takes a special mentality and we've got the opportunity to show we are comfortable being in that position.
That's Monochrome Frequency Test Card by the Finnish electro minamilists Pan Sonic. A downbeat end to the evening, but not as downbeat as when that 15 year girl old I married went and killed herself, I'm sure you'll agree.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Scowen start. It’s a tactic Matt has employed a few times - a player recovering from a knock goes from being outside the matchday squad to starting the next game. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bakinson start too.
Mansfield not bad away from home. Won 4 lost 2. Defeats to Wrexham and Lincoln. Wins at Barnsley, Wigan, Crawley and Northampton.
Looks winnable on paper but Clough's sides are normally tough to break down. Mind you Lincoln hammered them 4-1 and I'd say we play exactly the same way as Lincoln.
I think Matt will stick with the starting line up from Saturday if Scowen is still unable to start, then shuffle the pack for the cup game on Saturday.
We’ve looked leggy in the ‘unchanged’ or limited change games when we’ve played Saturday/Tuesday. Hope for some rotation. Something like five changes, ideally.
I don't anticipate many changes at all - it has been a quick turnaround, but Saturday was our first game in almost 2 weeks. Keep it rolling with as few changes as possible, then switch things up at Wealdstone.
Good point! And thankfully it is kind of hard to go too weak in the cups anyway. The below would probably be our "weakest" side based on playing time, and it is still decent!

Look at the chin on that stag. Jimmy Hill, is that you?

Dilemma tonight. Changes or not?
Personally, I’m expecting Grimmer for Pattenden, Butcher for Leahy and McCleary for Udoh. Whether I agree with changes or not I’m sure.
But there are so, so many options.

I have a sneaking suspicion Brandon Hanlan might start tonight.
Hoping we can cope again without the magnificent Josh Scowen.
I hope your not tempting fate!

Agreed. Chance to give quite a few a rest on Saturday.
We have Exeter City away (3/12) and
the biscuit wankersReading home (7/12) the following week so rotation is extremely likely. Then again, this
Look at the average age of the Mansfield squad. I’d want our freshest legs on those lot. They’ve got Stephen Quinn aged 38 lol
It's going to be a cold night on the terrace tonight! I hope the lads give us a few reasons to jump around and keep warm!!
I'd start GMac and bring in Bakinson or Butcher, but that's about it as far as changes.
I'd usually like us to go strong in the cups but if you can't prioritise the league when you are unexpectedly top of it when can you?

Hartridge
Leahy
Bakinson
Butcher
Wheeler
Lubala
Hanlan
Mccleary for Udoh is the only change. Udoh is on the bench. Still no sign of Josh or Bakinson. Or Tafa et al.
After an extremely windy weekend a similar theme seems to be running (blowing?) through the Gasroom today.
Guilty as charged.
I think that side would beat the one who got us promoted, or at least run them mighty close
Hmmm. Not at all sure about that.
