Oxford fans before Manning went to Bristol City: "Why would he want to leave the project of a stable, promotion chasing club? Bristol City are an average Championship side."
Plymouth fans before Lowe went to Preston: "Why would he want to leave the project of a stable, promotion chasing club? Preston are an average Championship side."
Wycombe fans today: "Why would he want to leave the project of a stable, promotion chasing club? Coventry are an average Championship side."
The only difference is (obviously) Blooms' personal connection to Wycombe, but for anyone who questions the likelihood of a manager chasing L1 promotion having an appetite to go to a mediocre Champo side, there are precedents, and strong reasons (often rhyming with 'honey') as to why they make the jump.
There are no guarantees in football, and half a season from now we could be in 12th with the loanees gone, and Wycombe fans loyally calling for Blooms' head again.
Bloomfield is still very much building. Leaving now and worse case failing badly he'll join an absolute sea of unemployed managers with no guarantee of ever getting back in at all.
Let alone somewhere commutable etc.
He literally only has to look a year back to see how it went for Ainsworth and that was an emotional pull club for him.
You could add in that it takes him further from the Ipswich job if that's what he might ultimately want. Hypothetical but If we do well and get even close to promotion and If (probably when) they come down at the end of the season and their manager moves on he'd be high on their list. Imagine not being so because you are new in somewhere else or even worse already sacked.
I think it's people wondering why he might go who got into football late in life! For the record, I don't think he will go, I just would not be scratching my head to think of reasons if he did.
I also don't want it to be Coventry if he ever does go, simply because their fans have been so dismissive of him. If we were scuffling in L1 and sacked Blooms and looked at a manager who had a team flying in L2 on a midtable budget, I don't think any of us would be disrespecting the chap. Yet Coventry fans are seeing the mere thought as a disgrace.
Some comedy posts on the Cov forum not giving a second of thought to us having a billionaire owner, clearly being on the up and having a guy managing us who has spent 20 years of his life here.
This isn't just a league 1 guy being offered a championship job routine scenario.
I think the truth is somewhere in the middle - even with his connection to us, his career is now football management, possibly lasting decades, and this would be a huge move to consider, especially as the Coventry squad are clearly not as bad as their record would suggest. On the other hand, we all know the strong reasons for him to stay.
I just don't think Coventry fans should be dumfounded if he chooses to stay with us, or Wycombe fans dumfounded if he goes. The Pros & Cons columns both have several entries either way. Coventry fans are underestimating the personal pull of a club he has spent so long at, but Wycombe fans may be underestimating the pull of providing for his family while jumping up a division.
I am sure it is - there are always plenty of reasonable fans in these situations, but I could also copy and paste an absolute ton of Argyle fan responses at the time that thought it was a bad move.
My overall point is just that supporters of a club always think the club is the greatest thing since sliced bread (only Wycombe fans are correct in this) and that any upward move is the wrong time/wrong club/wrong move altogether.
The reality is that there is never a guarantee of a club from a higher division coming calling again, in such a precarious sport, and they rarely come calling if they are already doing well. If Blooms does get an offer from Coventry, he may be turning down a massive income boost for his family, and the chance to elevate his profile - even if he were to get sacked, he would be seen as a catch for future L1 clubs, just like GA still is for most.
Unless Blooms and/or Dan Rice come out and say something, there is no way we can know how much 'respect' he is being treated with. Simple as that. We don't even know how long our players are out injured for, let along any of this!
What evidence have you got that he’s not been treated with respect. Best squad in terms of quality and depth. Clearly supported him when he was after Fred, who couldn’t have been cheap. Bloomfield has mentioned on a number of occasions that Dan and the board have supported him on having extra days away for long away matches.

How much does someone need to make their 'family stable for life'?
Ton?

You got to football late in life didn't you?
Excellent unsourced quotes fair play. Not quite Trumpian.
Agreed. Totally different environments.

Bloomfield has us and Ipswich.
plymouth fans new very well why Ryan Lowe needed to accept a job in the North of England.

But if ML really wanted to keep Blooms he would simply match Coventry's contract offer.
And yet they have an 87 page thread about him leaving, including quotes like the below:
I can do Oxford too if @LX1 insists.

If he signs Kone in January I shall make some EXTREMELY SATIRICAL posts
Well known in the city that Ryan Lowe’s move north was not for footballing reasons.
Good luck when @micra catches up with this.

@Shev I assume you will be moving to the UK given recent unfortunate events in you country of residence?
Indeed. It’s dumbfounded as in struck dumb.
Sorry @Shev !!
I’ll let @DevC off with a caution for not knowing new needed a k.
'Dumfound' and 'dumfounded' are evidently older variants, and still accepted as such:
The Grammarphobia Blog: Are you dumbfounded?
Blooms still 7/4 favourite with The Cov.
Blooms has not been treated with respect under the new regime since the takeover.
As you may have seen in the recent interview, could barely bring themselves to mention him by name.
They want to be careful what they wish for.
Unfathomable why they would want to alienate one of the only people with a wealth of experience of Lower League Men’s football.
Blooms’ choice is leave the club he so clearly loves with his stock high or wait until he’s pushed out.
Do you ever think that you could be reading far too much into something very small?
Some huge leaps in here @NiceCarrots... Not sure there is any evidence out there that the new owners haven't treated Blooms with "respect".
For a start, they've backed him in the Summer transfer market to sign the players he wants.
Blooms 11/8 with Sky Bet, I stand by my comments made above.

"Give it a rest" could be auto completed against most of Mr Carrots conspiracy theories against the current owners / management.
He was 4/6 on last night.
@NiceCarrots Not sure what bookies odds have anything to do with things.
A message from the club.
