So that’s two of twenty four. 🤔 Did you have access to their company accounts, if so where exactly did they “overstretch “ themselves ? Could it possibly be on the first team chasing the dream that didn’t happen. Perhaps you could advise ML on where he is going wrong as clearly he doesn’t have any business sense!😂😂
No, it’s all just hot air, a load of guff and empty words, remember…along with the new training ground, offices, £1.5m desso pitch, staff recruitment and investment in the best first team squad we’ve ever had.
The key is to use the olympic hammer throw technique - hold on to both wrists, gently enter into a spin and release just at the right moment. Reckon I could throw Dan about 4 feet.
Derby are now competing in the Championship. Reading are still in the sh*t but the Cat 1 academy players aged 19-21 have found their feet and are with some experienced players a real threat in League One. They also have the Leagues best manager. Both their problems arose from owners who were not willing to fund anymore loses, many other teams like Brentford before they reached the Premier League were losing massive sums but a keen benefactor.
ML and his team are keen to invest but more on youth than transfer fees. This to me is great.
All teams bar an handful are spending more than they turnover in the EFL. The current owners at present have the funds to compete with anyone in any league. I find that as exciting as I do worrying but that’s football now.
The spend on our club every year is peanuts to ML. At present his wealth is increasing by £20-30M a week, that’s wealth not turnover.

I noticed in the impressive interview that Jeremy and Dan mentioned Reading twice as part of the catchment area for members of our Academy in July 25, because of the transport links to West London. Just made me wonder about the depth of the friendship between ML and RC.
I imagine it's more of a reflection of the reasoning behind the attempted purchase of Bearwood (with Lomtadze's money) than the relationship between RC and ML.
Three and a half feet is actually not too far. I bet I could basically drop someone two feet!
The Olympic rules for people throwing (entering at the 2028 games) are quite stringent, but even assuming official rules (which require the person being thrown must weigh over a minimum threshold) it's allowable for the throwee to help with momentum by curling up as much as possible and then twisting in the air.
The Bulgarians are the favourites for the first ever Olympic gold, and they can throw past six feet all day long!
surely the optimal technique would have the hands of the thrower supporting the feet of the thrown and then launching them "tossing the caber" style. Somersaults and 15 feet absolute minimum. Quite a spectator sport.
My take was that it was very upbeat & positive, but also well grounded, no stupid short term promises etc.
I liked that they referenced back to Dobbo & were complementary of the work Sam Grace has & is doing and recognised the benefit that has brought to the club.
Of course as fans we worry about the debt that this adventure will layer upon the club, but if they get it right (& why shouldn't they) then we can look forward to the sort of returns that the likes of Exeter have & do enjoy.
I like your thinking. Could make judging tricky though as you'd have to be sure that the throwee didn't aid the throw with a bit of spring in their knees or ankles. Might try it out on the kids later.
Surely it’s all about the size of the person to be tossed. Warwick Davies Vs Eddie Hall, Warwick I recon I could toss across a room but Eddie I’d struggle to get one leg off the ground.
The throwee would have to be independent and impartial too, or else they could give the thrower an unfair advantage by jumping into the throw. There’s clearly a lot of factors in this equation and we really need @kipper to fully explain the mechanics of this fantasy tossing (steady @Wendoverman).

it’s very late.
That’s a fair point. And if I can throw Dan Rice further down I take the average or the furthest distance achieved?

https://www.wwfc.com/news/2024/october/31/wanderers-host-first-talent-id-day-for-prospective-academy-signings/ more exciting (well, I find it exciting) developments - including the appointment of Kieran Sadlier as a scout (if you believe the pictures).

I find it hard to watch the YouTube interview and be massively impressed. And then I realise they are talking about Wycombe. As in Wycombe Wanderers.

Yeah, why bother really.
Are you using that as an insult?
Don't be such a couhig!
Must be the undersoil heating on full blast!

I imagine Sandro Lomtadze is Mr. Lomtadze's son.

And just like that, Scotland are now the favourites for the gold!

I know it's no very PC but isn't dwarf throwing/tossing - no tittering at the back - an actual thing?
What goes on in Prague, stays in Prague

£5m a year to run the academy. Ouch...
Juha Rasanen has thrown a person a record breaking 5.4 metres. His feat is featured in a new Guinness Book of Records. Report by Percival Helen.

Also if the tosser was standing next to a sharp incline and the tossed person was wearing a paragliding apparatus .
