That’s the stuff you can’t teach. It’s spatial awareness of where you are and what direction to direct a ball by foot or head when you are surrounded by bodies and the ability to do it when you and everyone else around you is moving.
All the great foxes in the boxes were born with it. Add in some physical strength and ability to turn up in the right place and you have what every team wants.
For the first time in a very long time, we don't really need the transfer fee do we? Unless Kone pushes for the move and effectively downs tools I hope we keep him until the end of the season at the bare minimum.
Kone is definitely a superb prospect and a lovely chap but I cannot see him going anywhere this season.
The test for our owners in January will I hope be as a result of us being around those top two positions, with the question then being whether they back Matt in bringing in any additional players he thinks he may need to underpin that challenge.
It really doesn’t feel like we are still little Wycombe who have a need to sell our best players in the January window to balance the books.
We absolutely don't need the transfer fee, correct. But 21 year old centre forwards with an average of a goal every 91 minutes in League One don't come along very often... If he keeps going at that rate, we'll be offered some serious fees in time (depending on contract etc).
I hope we get to see him in the Quarters for many years to come - new contract please!
Totally agree. Plenty of examples throughout the leagues where new contracts have been offered even after a short period into one contract. We need to protect ourselves with what seems at this very early stage to be an amazing asset to the club.
As we already have strong competition in all positions the key in January will be to secure Morley, Taylor and Humphreys until the end of the season. Kodua and Bishop too if we feel they might add to the last four months of the season if fit.
If we retain the three above and don't have a major injury list I suspect Matt will only bring in one or two other players.
I love Richard Kone and I don’t care who knows it. He’s just a genuinely lovely man who has one of the most beautiful smiles ever. When he smiles you can’t help but smile too.
He also happens to be a natural born goalscorer. He has such an inate goalscoring instinct, as illustrated by his headed goal against Posh.
His goals-per-minute ratio is phenomenal and it’s no surprise he is already attracting interest from other clubs.
They say don’t fall in love with a loan player, well Richard is all ours and when he leaves us I am going to cry. There’s no point trying to deny it.
Speaking of (record) transfer fees feels tawdry when discussing a player who plays with such joy. I’m going to soak up every second of joy watching him play and score goals, goals, goals, whilst he remains in the Oxford and Cambridge blue quarters.
What was the name of that young foreign striker we let go a couple of seasons back, who has been playing in the Premier League this season? Ali somebody was it?
Poor Trevor, what must he be doing with himself surrounded by all this winning and positivity? Poor lad hasn't even visited the Gasroom since the start of September.
My £5 on Kone to be league top scorer at 150-1 is looking quite exciting right now! Another reason for me to hope he doesn't get poached by a team from a higher level in January.
The reality is, Kone is still very raw. He is very talentled and has those goal scoring instincts that you want from your striker. There will be a lot of interest and if he moves higher up the pyramid too soon, there is a danger that he may not get the opportunities he needs to grow. Ibe is probably our most recent example of a young lad who moved on too soon. I know he has other challenges to face but I do wonder how different his career may have been had he stayed another year.
The curse is broken, a win! After tonight he's definitely on the Wycombe train, and it's left the station, it's flying along the tracks, and it's destination is The Championship.

Will the first true test of our new owners ambition come in January, when 10+ goal Kone attracts bids from the Championship?

Kone equal with Alfie May in L1 scoring charts...what if he asks Matt for £16,000 a week? 😉
If I was him I would be asking for £20,000 a week, which is reportedly what their goalkeeper is on!
Barry Nevill on X: "Matt Bloomfield! 👍 https://t.co/dvAKI5mAsC" / X
Not sure if anyone posted this yet, but heady days when Blooms is brought into a conversation about the hiring of the England manager!
That Ryan Allsopp looks quite good as well.
Quite a journey from ‘No plan B’ isn’t it? Still, three defeats on the spin and we’ll be back there again.
and be able to welcome back @trevor .

He’s clearly someone’s parody account.
Having a Plan B. Not losing the dressing room. Introducing subs early to change the game. Winning. It's like a dream
Hopefully the first 'That's on Bloomfield...' will be after a post-Christmas blip...😊

What other clubs are interested?
I'm sure he will find another club to "support", perhaps Cambridge?
Edit for @wwfcblue: It would be no surprise if he is already attracting interest from other clubs.
I was wondering for moment whether that was referring to Tommy Too Cool (as the media pronounce his name) or Bloomfield.

He’ll be playing championship sides next season. With us.

slightly soiled costume, with woodbine in one hand and bottle in brown paper bag in the other shouting at the pigeons
I thought Daren Curry was our record signing wasn't it rumoured around the £300k?
