Chesham United's FA Cup replay with Bishops Cleeve fell foul of the weather on Tuesday. The new date for the game is Tuesday 8th October (7.45pm) at the Meadow. The winners are at home to Yeovil in the 4th Qualifying Round at the Meadow, probably on October 12th - depending on the TV selection.
Quite amazing that Chesham United's FA Cup replay v Bishops Cleeve went ahead tonight after the deluge earlier in the day. In fact the pitch was excellent.
Chesham played extremely well & thoroughly deserved to progress to the next round after a 4-0 demolition of Bishops Cleeve. The visitors had dumped Torquay United out of the cup in the 2nd Qualifying Round & were not to be underestimated. However, Chesham zipped the ball around on a slick, wet pitch & Bishops Cleeve were unable to match them.
A screamer from Connors after 7 minutes set up the win. A goal either side of half-time by Lewis Rolfe settled the game & a wonderful goal in off the post by Gallimore was the icing on the cake. 564 hardy (& very wet) souls were there to watch it. A word for the referee who I thought had an outstanding game. A couple of Chesham players were yellow carded for late, petulant tackles but overall the referee helped make it a very enjoyable game.
If you're considering going to the Yeovil match on Saturday please try & get in the ground by 2.30. There will probably be 2,000+ there & long queues at the turnstiles are likely. The food & drink is well priced (especially the cup cakes @ £1 each from the tea bar) so get a spot early & enjoy the afternoon!

The Board of Directors can announce that it has reluctantly accepted the resignation of manager Scott Harris yesterday evening with immediate effect.
Chairman Yioryos Vasilaras says: "It's with an extremely heavy heart that I accepted Scott's resignation yesterday evening. Scott's decision is solely based on the fact that he's not enjoying football and specifically managing our football club in the current toxic environment created by a segment of our supporters.”
He is, Pete is his dad, who was, of course, coach here under Sanchez, assistant manager to Adams and caretaker manager for just one game, I think, when Adams left.
One of the best things about going to Chesham yesterday was the community feel of the club. Because it's predominantly terracing there were lots of kids who could run about, go to the kiosks (with cash!!!) & buy home-made cakes for £1 etc etc. There were also about a dozen people who'd walked to the game with their dogs (all perfectly behaved).
It's something that's been sadly lost at WW - particularly since the American ownership. I remember Rob Couhig being told at a forum that Wycombe has always been "a family club". His reply was "yes, & it's my family's now". He just didn't get it. It needs to change.
The only downside yesterday was the "special FA Cup souvenir programme". £4 - that's taking the piss, however good it was. It was a big game but still only the qualifying rounds. Let's hope both Wycombe & Chesham play on different days over the FA Cup 1st Round Proper weekend.
Especially with the ending of replays the 1st & 2nd rounds of the FA Cup have got to return to being split North/South. It is ludicrous to expect Non-League teams in the South to have to travel to the likes of Carlisle, Barrow & Morecambe.
Went to Marlow v Dorchester on Saturday. On paper a tough game with Dorchester in 4th compared to Marlow being rock bottom with 2 points from 9 games. Dorchester brought a noisy crowd, including a drummer.
Marlow were bright early on but Dorchester took the lead. Marlow equalised before half time but a screamer shortly after the beak put Dorchester 2-1 up. A Dorchester red card levelled things up and Marlow scored a good freekick. Plenty of pressure from Marlow (a lot of long throws) but the game ended 2-2, a point that I'm sure they'd have taken before the game.
Marlow clearly struggling to adapt to the higher level, especially having lost their top scorer in the summer, but it really is a lovely place to go and watch football.
Hadn’t realised Dawid Rogalski had left but explains a bit. Don’t check in on Marlow much but have seen a game there and it’s a good setting. I wonder if (somebody here might know) they lost a few players because of being placed in the South division and the travel involved.
There was a healthy reported crowd of 356 there on Saturday…I know it was a good weekend for non league exposure but I do wonder sometimes if the rise of Chesham, Marlow, Flackwell etc has taken any off the Wycombe gates. They’re each getting three-four figure crowds and for between £10-£15 an adult to watch decent levels of football, I can see the attraction.
Don't think is was down to the travel involved, he was poached by Walton + Hersham in the same division who are aiming for promotion to Step 2. I believe the management and some of the squad are Reading area based, so probably preferred the South to the Central, hence their appeal against being placed in Southern Central last season at step 4. If anything I'd say they kept too many players from last season, who have struggled in general with the higher level and most of their new signings were youngsters from lower levels with minimal step 3 experience.
The marquee signing was experienced striker Stefan Brown who has been injured until now but made his debut off the bench on Saturday. Hopefully he will become more involved going forwards and they can pick up their first win of the season soon.

Flackwell is exceptionally well supported considering it’s essentially a village side with naff all parking. Great ground though and decent pubs. They’ve traditionally had strong youth sides too so be interesting to see how high they can fly.

Half time, it was Ashford 1-3 Kingstonian…full time it was Ashford 7-4 Kingstonian! Ashford scored in 59th, 60th and 62nd minute!

I liked Steve McGavin when he was with us. I remember when we signed Steve and feeling what a great signing that was for our club.
