Maidenhead have a very strong and active youth football section, which probably builds affinity with the club in general. And while the town’s (like many others) retail space is very desolate you would almost always see pop up banners in the shopping centre advertising their upcoming games, while even smaller outlets had posters up. Small things but noticeable.
The reason these clubs have a younger supporter base is they're accessible in a town centre. How would a 14 year old who who say lives in Thame get to Adams Park & back for the Villa game? Until the club addresses these issues crowds will not grow. We need lots more youngsters at Adams Park - like at Chesham today they bring enthusiasm by the bucket-load.
The question is can we grow our crowds whilst at Adams Park? Also, are we pricing ourselves out by charging as we do for season tickets and food/drink? Have we actually got a good match day experience?
It’s all good for me as I am extremely lucky to be able to afford to go to games but I sense we have distanced ourselves from the community and the move to Harlington could possibly mean the connection between the club/players and the community is further damaged.
To achieve what the new owners want we need to really do much more in the community and possibly move away from Adams Park and dare I say it, out of High Wycombe. @A_Worboys example of the 14 year old travelling from Thame to Adams Park for a midweek game would be just as bad if we moved to Little Marlow or Booker and a town centre stadium to support Championship football seems very unlikely.
In the meantime we need the people who run the club to really focus on building that younger support base as we are all unfortunately getting older and we desperately need those young supporters to keep our club going.

The cups took the limelight today with Flackwell Heath demolishing Broadbridge Heath 6-1 in their FA Trophy 2QR tie. It's the deepest the Heathens have ever been in the competition and another fine performance in their seemingly unstoppable ascent. Thame United also progressed with a 3-1 win at Westfield.
In the Vase 2QR, Chalfont were humped 4-0 at home to Harpenden Town, Holyport won by the same scoreline at Crawley Green, Risborough Rangers went out 4-2 at Long Buckby, Penn & Tylers Green beat Moulton 4-1 (popular score today), and Windsor & Eton beat Easington Sports by a 3-0 margin.
At the top of the non-league pyramid, Maidenhead United's tough start to the season continued with a 0-1 defeat by FC Halifax Town. The Magpies' Midas touch may have finally deserted them after a good few years punching above their weight.
Eight of the top 10 in the NL South drew, including Slough (1-1) at Eastbourne and Chesham (2-2) at Maidstone thanks to a last-gasp equaliser, having been 1-0 up at half-time.
Spare a thought for rock-bottom Marlow in the Southern Prem South. They were thrashed 5-2 on their faraway outing at Taunton Town. Not local but in the same division, Hungerford beat Plymouth Parkway 9-3!
In the CCL Prem North, Burnham pulled off a mini-scalp by beating leaders North Greenford United 1-0, while Windsor beat the "Rising Ballers" of Kensington 4-1 in the CCL D1.
They were in the Isthmian Premier in the late 80s/early 90s, which is comparable, but not sure how it stacks up in the new world. Incredible to think we share the honour of both being FA Cup semi-finalists, albeit Marlow's achievement was in 1882...
Amersham Town beat Bedfont 4-3. Next stop Taunton Town away in the FA Cup while near neighbours Chesham United travel to Bishops Cleeve (who dumped Torquay United out of the FA Cup 3-0 last weekend).
Have good people including Neil Warnock involved now and they are optimistic of promotion back to National League Premier this season. Saw them in a PSF and they looked very good.
In tonight's Southern League Premier Division South match at Westleigh Park, Marlow lost 5-1 to Havant & Waterlooville. What may be of special interest to people on here is the Marlow goal was scored by David Tarpey. Remember him?

On Saturday, in their ninth Spartan League game of the season, MK Irish lost their 100% record and conceded their first league goals, when they drew 2-2 at home to Winslow, in front of 208. Winslow held a 2-0 lead, before the Irish scored on 80' and 90'.

I suppose that was step 2 back then, whereas they're currently step 3. But you're right, the whole pyramid below the National League is different now.
Marlow’s highest ever finish was third place in the Isthmian League Premier Division in the 1993/94 season.
