That's a point that is, I fear, lost on a lot of people giddy with excitement about WWFC suddenly having an owner who is richer than god. If/when the plug is pulled, we're going to make Reading in their current state look like a paragon of financial prudence.
Which is what some said when Rob C came in...what's going to happen when he gets bored...and what almost every fan of every club must say about their owner.
That's football ownership today. Not sure we would have survived under the Trust...or any of the other owners who were queueing up to buy in (apparently)...we are in the lap of the Gods.
On the bright side WW3 might put all of those worries in the shade...probably just as we win the play-offs.
As for Flash Gordon, I was privileged enough to grow up in a time where they showed the serial on a Saturday morning along with other gems like Champion the Wonder horse, The Flashing Blade and my favourites Laurel and Hardy.
Orient away was visceral at the final whistle, a low point of the modern era. Blooms was visibly shocked. Was it GMcC who tried to calm the boo boys and got dogs abuse in return?
Reading have pulled their youth squad out of the proposed academy/national league cup thingy seemingly to avoid the cost of travl to the national league ground. Not a hugely encouraging sign.....
The club has said it is to manage the workload of the youngsters, not financially motivated. And the band played "Believe it, if you like". I don't and I am wondering how much more the fanbase is being taken for a ride by a club that is slowly killing my enthusiasm for it and football in general. I first watched The Biscuitmen when Harry Johnston was manager so it be a wrench when I say" Enough is enough", even though I do not go to the games now and only listen to the radio commentary. I hope that day will never come, but it seems to getting closer by the day.
Wow @theRoyalBiscuit you could be older than our very own @micra who also watches from home due to advancing years. Harry Johnston managed them around 70 years ago.
With U21's who've made an appearance making up over half the first team squad you can actually understand this decision on its own merit.
But it is only 61 years since Roy Bentley took over from him! I won't give my exact age away but I am a war time baby, and went to Elm Park for the first time in my teenage years. I admire @micra for supporting you for so long. Most of it must have been in Non-League, so it makes my achievement pale into insignificance. At least I have seen my club play in all the tiers of League Football, but not in Non-League---yet!
I’m just a boy compared to the esteemed @micra but I loved our non-league days perhaps our biscuit friends could do with a dip in the cleansing water of semi professional football.

There comes a time in life when dating oneself is the only option. Afraid I can’t help with Ming the Merciless. Must be after my time.
Since the original series was from 1936 - are you the oldest man alive if it was after your time?
Well, honest to God, I shoulda known that, so I should. Lovely Limerick.
This one is best spoken aloud in genteel elderly company.
Just a failed attempt (evidently) at a witty play on the usual comment of something being before my time. Sorry 😣.

Is there scope now for JJ to come to us in a coaching role? Has he retired from playing?

Can’t access that. What is the gist of it, please?
A joke that Reading is beautiful. Instead of showing pictures of Reading. Pictures of famous worldwide landmarks instead.
Thanks @Kernow76.
I’m imagining that you’re a 47 or 48 year old Cornishman but I may be well wide of the mark.
I spent most of my teenage years dating myself.

With respect, you haven't been watching WWFC long enough if that was one of your worst memories. Believe me, it has been worse! 😊

When I was very young, I remember being fascinated by Mr Ed, probably thinking the horse was real,
This thread is now hosting a veritable miscellany of weird and wonderful offerings. I’ll take the blame again if necessary.
Never wishing to correct your use of language there @micra but surely you mean ‘credit’ again…
I’d like to think that at least the odd Gasroomer would see it that way!
I’d better rephrase that. We all have our own ideas about who the odd Gasroomer is !
At least a few sits better, perhaps.🥱
I’m pretty sure that the horse was real, it was just trained to bare its teeth and someone did a voiceover, a bit like modern politicians.
excellent !

I genuinely feel for you @theRoyalBiscuit. An awful situation.
I just hope it can all be sorted positively and quickly for fans like you @theRoyalBiscuit .
Why would any true football supporter down thumb that? 🤦🤦🤦🤦
