I lived and worked in Reading for five years. The only thing I remember is someone coming in the local pub I drunk in (nice pint of Morlands on the Bath Road - can’t remember the name) and shooting the legs of the pool table half off with a shotgun.
Ko Pin-Yi was playing at the table. (Actually a world class Taiwanese player but your average Reading fan wouldn't know the difference between Taiwanese and Chinese)
Only when I am old and grumpy........ Hey, wait a minute I am that already, so maybe it will happen soon or maybe it won't Who knows with this Chinaman selling, anything can happen, form completion to extinction.
Please tell. If you believe that bit about Couhig walking out, think again. Another poster has said, I believe that JJ (I think it was) saying yesterday that things are progressing slowly and Couhig will not pull out. So, NO FAN or anyone outside of the process knows what is going on and all reports etc. are just rumours and often just made up.
Hearsay but I would believe the source but ultimately it’s up to Rob. As of yesterday Reading FC became worth less with a bigger risk of being relegated.
Chinaman (/ˈtʃaɪnə.mən/) is an offensive term referring to a Chinese man or person, or widely a person native to geographical East Asia or of perceived East Asian ethnicity. The term is noted as having pejorative overtones by modern dictionaries.[a] Its derogatory connotations evolved from its use in pejorative contexts regarding Chinese people and other East Asians,[2] as well as its grammatical incorrectness which resembles stereotypical characterizations of Chinese accents in English-speaking associated with discrimination.[3][4][5] The usage of the term Chinaman is strongly discouraged by Asian American organizations.[6][7][8][9]
If Reading go down it can only be because they’ve had a fire sale in January imposed by the EFL to stay afloat and complete the season. They have far too much quality to go down.
Chinaman - a leg spin delivery from a left arm bowler. Perhaps Rob has thrown in his own googly which has stumped Dai. I say slip him an extra million. That should cover it and this saga will be over.
Before we blame the EFL too much here remember what you are saying is they've effectively been asked to sell some assets to pay a tiny proportion of their debt and are being allowed to start a new season despite insolvency and a very real prospect of not being able to fulfill fixtures they are selling tickets for.
The EFLs position in all of this should have been years ago, the member clubs won't vote for that in case it happens to them and their fans wouldn't have liked that one bit.
Or was it a clever piece of racism? 'Chinaman' is much more an American term than a British one, so perhaps was used as a knowing reference to the club being completely fucked over in a Chinese/American pincer movement.
One thing is clear, Dai Yongge is certainly inscrutable!

Do you think this proposed takeover will actually happen @theRoyalBiscuit ?
I’d say no based on what I’ve been told
Can you share with us @wwfcblue ?
I went to Reading once.

Don't give them any ideas!!!!
Did the pool table try to buy Bearwood?
For years the pool table was stone cold sober, until one day it finally knew what it felt like to be legless

I must be above the average Reading supporter then.
Why?
Yeah, can we not be casually racist please
In fairness, if Dai Yongge owned Wycombe I'd probably being doing the above by now.
They’ve been unable to buy anyone or get anyone in a free in this transfer window and have only been able to bring in Chem on loan.
For the next four months they are stuck with a small and hugely inexperienced squad.
Also they sold their best player last week.

Sadly I think you’re right. I’ve made my peace with this.
I’m sure eventually the deal will go through and Reading will finish comfortably mid-table before mysteriously signing big money players next summer.
But this interregnum has been very entertaining.

Or that their owner continues to miss wage payments / HMRC payments and they have more points being docked

Does your esteemed owner still live across the road from Buckingham Palace @theRoyalBiscuit?
Sorry, if I caused any offence, I used the term purely because he is a person from China. Please read it as "this native of China".
I never realised putting man after a person's country is offensive! Is Englishman an offensive term?
Don't worry. Racist terms change over time. Malcolm X always used to say 'Negro' which would put him in big trouble nowadays.
I have heard that he is seen more often round the corner, in the Casino.
Getting Dai Yongge out of Reading FC......
I don’t know, Englandman
