The Champo looks like absolute weak sauce this season, by the way. Oxford have unfortunately picked the perfect time to go up. It's hard to even find six strong teams, and there are far more relegation candidates than promotion candidates!
FFS how are Chelsea justifying their transfer spree this summer?
They have just signed their 7th, yes SEVENTH, senior goalkeeper & are in negotiations for an 8th with Genk. They have also signed another 8 players for a total of at least £140m so far which could rise with other possible deals to £240m ish.
Apparently Neto's arrival will take their senior squad to a nice round 50 yet they can only register 25 over 21s for the PL...
Football at the upper levels has totally lost the plot.
Surely they are screwed in a few years as all these players are on long contracts, regardless of what is allowed unless they can sell them all on for a profit they have to pay them for 8 years even if they are crap.
Whilst there’s no doubt that top tier football has lost the plot, I would argue that Chelsea are an extreme version of that even. No other team has 8 goalkeepers in their first team squad! Maresca blaming the rules for them selling Gallagher was the clearest sign yet that he’s been hired solely as a yes man.
Can they get round it by just selling youth reamers for decent fees each year?
Plus they only need to sell a player for higher than the amortised amount not the initial amount?
It's Chelsea though, they've been at the top for working the system since Abrahamovic. City coming in took the emphasis off Chelsea but it's not new the levels they go to.
Remember that modern goalkeepers should be good with their feet and crap at saving shots, so maybe Chelsea's 8 goalkeepers are going to play further forward?
The "are they allowed" depends how much they spend again in coming years, but wether they can actually find the cash might be different.
Loosely they are owned by an investment trust, surely the investors would like a return at some point. Not much winning recently and a need to build a new stadium in a very expensive part of London in order to get the sort of match day revenue their competitors do might catch up with them, although they are probably still ripe for another buy out by another oil state.
Don’t understand why Ingram signed for Oxford if he is a reserve , Philips must be injured not in the bench . Was looking forward to them losing the first game , can’t have their fans getting carried away up their backsides as it is .

Winkelman has sold you know who...https://www.mkdons.com/news/2024/august/09/change-of-ownership/
Oh look another reason to hate them
Never trust anyone who looks like they have been replaced by their own Madame Tussauds figure.
Not sure how Winkleman has led the club for more than two decades (as he claims) if the 20 year anniversary is this year.
Did they really reach the Championship in 2015 ? I don’t remember that but then why would I.

You hate Kuwaitis???

Petroclubs in general

PSG did at one point, but that was before rules on how many over-21 players you could loan out changed.
Derby go bottom of the table.
Season off to a good start.
Ruthlessly exploited on their Championship return. Beautiful.
Oxford making Norwich look very poor in the first half. One nil up, should be two.
MK 2-0 down at home to Bradford after five minutes. Agent Pattison with the first.
Brave new world, same as the old!
Actually, the Kuwaitis probably think MK are the team in claret and amber, as they have more fans there.
I hope they kept the receipt.
Put the mockers on that quickly! 1-2.
Col U 2 up now 2-3 down
Wimbledon now lead 4-2.

Could be getting paid more than he did at Hull where he was only going to be on the bench, them having just paid £1m for a Swiss keeper.
Bromley have never lost an EFL game and continued that record today
Posh getting beat is always fun too but might just show how good Huddersfield will be.
Or even conceded!
Rotherham lost to Exeter and Blackpool to Crawley. Maybe the opening month won’t be as brutal as we expected.
It's not started well.
