It has to be a managerial dictat. “Lads, against any side who are ranked above 50th in the world, once we have a lead, take no chances, back off and slow it down. One day it will work for us for a whole tournament.”
Not a single player came out of that with any credit. Extraordinary performance. I always think if you start slow it’s really hard to up the tempo. And we’ve started this whole tournament slow.
I wouldn't wash my feet with Stella. And there is no frustration here. A group draw against Denmark is fine. But that doesn't fit your narrative does it?
Your lazy generalisation of 'steamed on Stella England fans' is quite appalling btw
The most damning verdict which I can give is that this is all too predictable. England look like this for most of every tournament - you could cut and paste the "we must do better - we know what we're capable of" soundbites from the England players from any tournament in my lifetime, bar a couple.
I’m not hitting any panic buttons just yet. We were gash in group stages in previous tournaments and then click into a forward gear rather than reverse.
Like I said a week before the tournament, I’m pretty sure this is a Southgate tactic. It’s a shit one, for morale and feel good factor etc, sure. We seem to do it to conserve energy but the big red flag for me wasn’t the performance it was because some looked dead in their feet at FT.
Noone talks about the gash group games if/when you get to semis or finals.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again, and I don't care who hears me; are you listening Henry (few will get this reference I fear). In my opinion we have the wrong Gareth managing the England team. You have a group of (supposedly) world class players who seem apparently unable to play with any team spirit or desire to actually win.
Cue a manager that can motivate them to play until they drop, or the final whistle, whichever comes first.
Bring on the Gaz... Rock and Roll football in an England shirt.

England will win the group and have a very easy route to the SF.
Pickford for captain. Not sure what would happen - which would be fun
Where they will lose against the first quality side they face.
Dreadful, turgid stuff from England, I have seen walking football games for the over 50's played at a faster pace.
ABSOLUTE RUBBISH
After scoring an early goal.

It would be fun to see @drcongo s post Scotland 2021 posts against his pre final posts (amongst others). Lots of fun
Lots of fun this post
You haven't 😂
Haha, here comes @LX1 like one of those England fans steamed on Stella taking out every frustration on his wife.
What is your rationale for that very bold comment @shev

That must be very difficult for LX1’s wife.
This is a true story. I once watched a snail move across my front step one hundred times faster than England players.
LITERALLY
And I can verify that because my mate sitting next to me in the Dog and Duck agreed.
Here you go @LX1, here I am saying exactly the same thing 3 years ago.

Superb. Cheers
Back in the real world. Tonight's Spain v Italy matchup could decide who England may play in the qf
Italy likely have to win to top group. If they don't. England v Italy is the most likely qf
@Shev BBC agreeing with you on Guehi
I'm not married, but my partner is possibly frustrated by the opposite problem 😂

Going for a job with the Sun newspaper 😂
cue Gordon, Palmer and Toney starting up front for England next game

What is your definition of a 'quality side' @shev and what price would you back them at?
Your response to every drab England game is to come on here and abuse people. Seems apt.
I haven't abused anyone?
Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative
I hardly ever comment on England games, drab or otherwise. It seems you have some frustrating axe to grind. Hope you work it out.

Sunak et al 8/1 for a July 4th election. That’s the sort of action I like to be in on. And don’t tell the gaming commission.
4 points banked with the top 4 3rd placed finishers qualifying.
It'd be quite bad luck not to go through on what we've already done wouldn't it?

If that happened @HomerLone even I’d start cheering for them.
Q1: A contender to win the tournament.
Q2: I don't gamble.
