looks like a great facility and the extra commute for some players could be worth it for better facilities.
I see that it is owned by Imperial College and when QPR got it in 2007 one of the conditions was that their coaches worked with their teams. Not sure if we had to do the same.
On the plus side, on Transfer Deadline Day, any new player flying into Heathrow won't have far to go to complete their medical and sign the contract before it's faxed to the FA
I think it would be very hard on our women if we were to do that, they have worked really hard over the last few years and we have seen definite improvement & growth across all 3 sides; with some really promising youngesters coming through the under 18s.
Some women's teams still have "Development" or B teams lower down the pyramid and Wycombe's current first team may become that with the possibility of a direct route to the first team in the Championship. QPR had one in the Greater London league until moving them to the National League Reserve Divisions. But yeah if the new Wycombe owners decided to absorb the Reading women's team it shouldn't be at the expense of the current women's side but instead to give them more opportunities to reach a higher level.
I just thought it might be an option due to the problems Reading are facing and to help out the players there who could end up clubless in a few weeks. Women's football runs a bit differently with teams re-affiliating and rebranding every year. Last year Coventry United became Rugby Borough after Cov Utd pulled support and they were rescued by Rugby Borough FC. Same with TNS Ladies becoming Wem Town, Brighouse Town became Halifax FC, Gillingham renaming to Chatham Town, Crawley Wasps merging into Haywards Heath Town. Because women's football is still in its growth phase this sort of thing is happening all the time.
Due to social media algorithms I often seem to get Reading related tweets appear on my timeline. There seems to be a growing dawning that maybe they can't afford such a prestigious white elephant training ground in the 3rd division. The ladies team being the first to go with others to follow as I am sure most potential buyers look at the debits and credits side of the company bank account and realise it is not a sustainable model.
Slightly less entitled views since the original story broke.

Either way, a positive move forward.

For some players it could be closer of course.
Not sure if we still do the youth team house though, obviously more of a hassle for any of them if we do.
Having a youth team facility with a tube station nearby is surely a massive expansio to our catchment area.
Hayes & Harlington is a good 30 minute walk once you hop off the tube.

Faxed? It's 2024, Grandad.
Which was the working title of underneath the arches by Flanagan and Allen.
Its also the FA, so 100% likely.
Didn't they play together for QPR in the early eighties!
Reading Women seem to be on the brink of being shut down. Think Wycombe might try to take over their women's side and place in the Championship? Would save a lot of young Reading players. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11673/13155053/reading-staff-fear-womens-club-division-could-be-shut-down-after-football-association-reject-takeover-bid

I’m with you on this one buying someone else’s place in the league is a little too franchise for me.
Lets support our women and do it the right way.
We're not bloody MK Dons !!

Latest mini update on the Reading takeover makes it clear their training facility/academy and its cost is certainly an issue for buyers.
Where are those guys with the bedsheets when you need them!
Where's Dot Cotton?
Very good
We’ve had our fingers burned on the Reading dumpster fire already imagine how the bedsheet boys would react if we went back a second time.
Poor old Dot would have to put on a night shift to clean up that mess.
Bedsheets go to the next level......

I don't want them to go under, but a little training-ground related terror before they are saved would be hilarious and just.
I couldn’t give a toss if they went under. Fans so thick they sent abuse to a man who tried to help save them.
And then they fold and Wycombe get the training ground for nothing
Do they even care about the women's team or does it only matter if Wycombe threaten to save them?
