The biggest loss for me was Freeman. We could have done with him at RB on a few occasions and when we have had various suspensions and injuries. It's so handy to have someone like that but I guess he didn't want to stick around to be that person. Looks like Wheeler has replaced him in that sense! Another who I think has more to offer.
A little confused about the signing of Campbell (if and when). My memory has him as wide left player. Where Sadlier has been increasingly playing well. Can Sadlier or Campbell play right where they can aid / support GMac? But where does that leave Kodua? I worry we are signing good players but not where we need them. Centre midfield seems lacking strangely, if Ward isn’t ready we surely need someone there.
They work(ed) in the club shop don’t you know. Do keep up…
(Good spot @Wendoverman. I’m slightly disappointed in myself that their return - not Campbell’s by the way, I’m neutral over that - pleases me so much).
Sadlier can definitely play on the right. We’ve seen bits and bobs of him there so far and he’s looked quite good. Who knows he might even be better there?
I think Kone could play wide too from what I’ve seen so far (and maybe should do as a bit of an introduction to league football).
Looking at that Kodua film on one of the other threads, while there’s a fair bit of a wing play, there’s also lots of clips where he’s adopting a central position. So looks like he could play wide or as a number ten.
you can question the .manager considering how poor he is ....you don't always have to always side with Blooms/Rob...you can have your own views ...you do know that ?
I totally agree. Some people got upset that Freeman did not stay when we backed him with a new contract during his injury, but we showed little in him on the pitch. He is now playing meaningful minutes for a team who are punching far above their weight in 7th, obnoxious though Stevenage may be.
The word on the street is that Dale Taylor's loan has been finished / he's been recalled which then makes room for Kone & Kodua. I can understand the decision (if it's true) and when I first saw Taylor, I thought he'd be decent for us. This is JUST a rumour at this stage, I don't know if this is true
Ignore my post earlier, the person I was talking with and was giving me the information got their Taylor's confused! I haven't seen anything to suggest that Dale is on his way.
Please ignore my message earlier, it was a mistake
We're mid-table in L1, and you are gunna rip your season ticket up, because of some poor form and a couple underwhelming signings.
It really wasn't that long ago we were lucky to even be a football league club. Yes our form has been shit, and Bloomfield might not get better be the right man for the job, but try and get a grip.
Good man. I was about to say I thought that he had one of his best games for us at the weekend (until he was inexplicably moved to the wing, that is!) so it would be a shame not to see how he can progress in the new position.
I think we have all been waiting to see what a player he would be when he had a run of games alongside Vokes. He's only 20 and has a lot to learn and Vokes will surely help his development. He cannot play a lone striker and he certainly does not appear to be an effective winger.
I saw real potential in him when we played Orient at home and he was alongside Vokes. So much so that I would be very happy to sign up (if his contract was up at the end of this season). I agree that his development has suffered because of Vokes not playing but I think that if Vokes was injury-free for the rest of the season, I wouldn't be surprised if he got into double figures for goals easily!
Just a question, I know Kodua is an attacking player but is he a striker or an attacking winger?
I have no problem with signing Chem Campbell for all the reasons given above...perhaps his time getting splinters at Charlton will have fired him up. He scored a couple for us didn't he?
No, if you play a formation like 4-4-2, the wingers are in a structured formation where they are allowed to push on forwards but also expected to track back and support the full back whereas if you play a 4-2-3-1, they are set much higher up the pitch, pushing the opposition full backs closer to their defensive third.
I wondering if MB has looked at wingers and attackers this transfer window as he might be getting annoyed at the lack of end product from Sadlier? There have been a number of situations in the last few matches where he has found himself in goal-scoring positions but then hasn't troubled the goalkeeper because the shot has gone (a long way) off target? Don't get me wrong, his running, effort, positioning and providing for team mates can't be questioned, but when he's in a shooting position, there is a high chance that the attempt will miss? Going back to the Bristol Rovers match, the score could have been so much more if he was able to get his efforts on target!
Also McCleary has only found the net twice this season and offered 2 assists (according to the club's statistics)? Before anyone points out, I know McCleary offers so much more than goals in the games but to be an attacking player and only contributing to 2 goals and 2 assists doesn't look good for a team that could be involved in a relegation fight.....
He has scored five goals in 24 games (far fewer starts) for us and Charlton combined- 3 and 2 respectively - possibly a better rate per minute than any of our present squad have mustered.
He turned 21 a couple of weeks ago.
Although he played wide left for us his height (6’1”) could make him a potential threat at set-pieces.
I personally think Sadlier has been fantastic. We seem to be creating much more in general since he started, and he has that ability to take on a man and put a decent ball in.
@Otter87 almost all of our attacking players have looked strangely goal shy this term...choosing to look for a team-mate rather than have a crack...perhaps it's that confidence thing.

How on earth can you claim to know Matt Bloomfield's motives? Deluded.

Still need a left back tho
Seems unlikely to me
Seems Just as likely he picked up an injury on Saturday and he’ll be out for a number of weeks
I did wonder about Matt’s comments in the BFP interview where he spoke about loan player and. It knowing their futures. Seemed a bit cryptic
A rumour from where?

Welcome back Wanderers82 / DevinesWanderers80 / Wwfc2015_. Glad to see your hissyfits alive and well.
Nurse! Nurse! He's wet himself!
Fucking hell, talk about fairweather.

He's stopped coming to watch this rubbish for years.

Number 10 or wide forward on either side as far as I know.
Aren't all wingers attacking wingers? 😉

That's true, although I'd argue those are wide midfielders rather than wingers since 4-4-2 went out of fashion
(It's possible I've played too much Football Manager)
