They tend to excel the most with their physical attributes (acceleration, pace, agility, stamina) more than other positions of the pitch. These attributes tend to wain much earlier than your technical ability / cognitive function. JJ has lasted so long because he’s never relied on his physical attributes like other full/wing backs do.
Chem Campbell is returning on loan from Wolves. He’s spent the first half of the season at Charlton.
Editing to add that according to one fan on Twitter, he’s been sent back to Wolves by Charlton due to “turning up late for training” and having a “poor attitude”. Imagine if Taf had left us around the time of the Revs rumours. Social media would have made for great reading!
Would be an interesting one! I wasn't too convinced by Chem the first time around, but hopefully half a season at Charlton and some more time around the first team squad at Wolves has improved him.
Would be hugely surprised if he came back here. Didn't overly impress for us and from what I gather speaking from a Charlton fan I spoke to he's not particularly impressed there either. Although he has scored a couple for them recently.
WOuld be surprised as well. However we do need additional numbers as Kone and Kodua are unkown. Would have liked to have seen a bit more experience, assuming it happens.
Erm, rather underwhelming. That said (and trying to get excited!) he did look good at times and did at least score the odd goal both for ourselves and Charlton. Decent option off the bench when games become stretched, but wouldn't really see him as someone who'd be starting much.
I'm pretty much with the consensus here, think Campbell mostly flattered to deceive despite having obvious talent, and from what I've heard his loan spell has done nothing to beat the annoying sides out of his game (trying to do too much on his own and never playing the simple pass).
And yes, I'd much rather have had a left back, especially if we're hitting the limit on the number of loan players that can be in the matchday squad.
Not sure you can say we have too many wide forwards when we literally had to shove Taylor and Vincent-Young to play out of poisition there just 2 days ago. Kone appears to be more of a 2nd striker/#10 rather than a more traditional winger, and believe Kodua is more of a central playmaker type too.
We currently don't have any like-for-like replacements for either Sadlier or GMac so this seems like a smart signing in a position of need.
With loan signings Boyes and Brekin having left and only Kodua joining on loan, so far, I'm confident we have the capacity for at least one more loanee.
Personally I would be more disappointed to loan him than to sign him. I think there’s a good league 1 / 2 player there. And with time he may be at the top end of that. But he’s living a fantasy if he thinks the Wolves first team beckons. If he signs for us on a deal then it might show he willing to cast off the ego of being an elite player and willing to roll up his sleeves to make a long term realistic career.
I’m just impressed that everyone knows exactly what Kone's best position is after having seen him play less than 90 minutes of football. You guys are amazing.
I don't mind that tbh - a bit of a gamble, but there's a proper player in there and I think inconsistency was his biggest problem last time, which you've got to allow for given where he is in his development.
this transfer just epitomise Bloomfield as manager , getting more and more frustrated with him as a manager , he is trying to prove a point and trying to succeed where GA failed with Chem, my ST will not get renewed for as long as blooms is manager , attendance are going.dowm and we are boring to watch....Well done Rob....stubborn as ever.
This is my feeling as well. Saturday would have been a whole lot better if we could keep the shape at the top of the pitch. We collapsed backward as soon as that was lost.
Is Chem the best answer? Who knows. But he might be the best answer available to us.

What he said 😅
So are you saying that playing me at left back, in my Sunday league team, (because I was the worst player in the team) was a mistake?
Good to see some things never change at the lowest level.
Crappest most unfit player at left back.
Usually subbed early.
😂😂

I wonder if Chem Campbell has been recalled.

Thoroughly disappointed with that. We are beginning to stockpile mediocre forwards/wingers. We need a left back. I hope that is sorted as a priority.
Would be a bit of an odd one given we’ve signed Kone and Kodua already.
Can’t help but feel that he’d be taking on the Sullay Kaikai role of being one tricky forward too many in the squad.

Ah, looks like there is substance to this rumour!

But Chem Campbell? Nah, 😞.
Exactly this.
We've just sat through a page or 2 of people moaning we don't have enough wide options. And could barely last 15mins without Sadlier on the weekend.

Libero Grande, obviously.
Looks like the Chem Campbell rumour is getting some traction. All we'll need after this is a left back and we might have this squad sorted

We're still very light in terms of midfield destroyers - never really replaced Thommo or Gape
Pity Dom is so injury prone, as he is available right now.
Never replaced John Cornforth in my eyes

Ah yes, 'the corn circle' (someone will have to fill me in beyond that)

How does this epitomise MB as a manager?
Are attendances going down?
Is this Richie?
