John Akinde's debut was another that didn't quite translate the way many might have hoped to his wider stay with us, although he still had isolated good games after that, and we wouldn't have got promoted that season without him.
I think you're thinking of Sammy Davis Junior on Laugh In in the 1960s or DJ Mike Read singing calypsos to gaffawing Ukippers not the 1970s power pop quarter The Vapors @micra
The song writer denies it...says the words just scanned. A bit like 'Yellow' by them Coldplays which makes no real sense.
Though if it is Tom Hark, that is a new one on me...although the Leicester crowd were suggesting the lead singer was something in that area when he moaned about them booing...
Having just watched the first few minutes of the interview with Sam Grace, it’s amazing that we have been in discussions with him for two years! Like a dog with a bone, we got our man eventually and hopefully the signing will be worth the wait. Presumably GA was also a big fan of him.
Our scouting system is pretty decent…we might not always get it right yet our development system has unearthed at least two gems already with Kone potentially being #3.
He was on trial at Colchester when Blooms was there wasn't he? I'm sure I read that somewhere, probably on here. They wanted to sign him but couldn't because he didn't have the correct work permit or whatever.

Cracking!
Surely the greatest debut and then fall off in form / quality was Roy Essandoh.?
The one that sprung to mind was "Love and hate tattooed across the knuckles of his hands..." from Death or Glory by the Clash
It’s not that (and there’s a similar line in a Libertines song that it isn’t too.) It’s specifically hate on both hands.
Apparently it’s not a song but from Discworld.
Filbert St wasn't his debut
Ah dammit, I thought his agent answered the teletext thing the week before. My memory isn’t what it once was!
I can't remember if mine was ever any better than it is now.
it was about what!
So playing it first was very premature???
Oh hang on...you mean Turning Japanese. I thought you meant Tom Hark...I withdraw the above jest which makes no sense.
(The live B-Side of the single is a good song as well Here Comes the Judge)
Wasn’t it “here come de judge” ?
Here Comes the Judge is about masturbation??
Nahhh, isn't that a bit of an urban myth?

Only in extreme cases @Kim_il_Swan

His trial at Col U was while Hayden Mullins was in charge I believe. He went on record saying they wanted to sign him but Visa issues killed it.
He scored a superb goal there during his trial: https://youtu.be/7JN0i3p1XwE?si=RODEiSz-gOznkWDn
