An update from the club: "Both Brandon Hanlan and Luke Leahy have been discharged from hospital and are resting at home.
The club treats head injuries in particular with the utmost caution and we thank those who handled the situation with dignity and respect, and those who have sent well wishes."
Why would you tar the Stevenage fans who weren't doing anything wrong though?
On another note I checked their forum out and one guy actually quoted my post about the move on Hanlan. Somehow deciding that because Hanlan was adjudged to have fouled first that anything after is OK. Even though it was a bizarre slam dunk that's utterly wrecked him. A mere 15 stone Powerhouse.
I know fans can be one eyed morons but surely it's unarguably that chanting for a red card and shouting abuse at a laid out player is pretty pathetic behaviour.
Relieved with this news, and would also like to assume that the tweet from Lauren Leahy might suggest Luke's avoided an injury as serious as it looked.
Glad to have the international break in truth. Of course it gives us a chance to try and get some of the other injured players back on the pitch, but more importantly I suspect our the team and management (and us fans) need the headspace after yesterday. I'd worry about us if we had another game coming up so soon.
Hope to see both Luke and Brandon back on the pitch soon.
As Mooneyman wrote, it can’t be done and I don’t think it should be done. Apart from being against EFL rules it would set a very dangerous precedent. I recall the disgraceful chants aimed at Akinfenwa when we hosted MK Dons so exactly where do you draw the line and who decides what is sufficiently unacceptable to deserve a ban?
I must admit what galled me most was Steve Evans saying Keogh and Taffazoli 'being good honest players' agreed with him during the wait for their team mate to be treated that Max deserved a red...implying that there was dishonesty from our side elsewhere. I don't begrudge them the win...they bossed the game...but those scenes and that interview were grim for me. Surely, he would realise that a 14 minute break to treat an player on the pitch was more than a 'head knock'. Hope they fade away second half of the season. I'm drawing a veil over yesterday and I'm glad I do not do X the website formally known as Twitter.
X no doubt has its place for quick updates, snippets and soundbites, but I don't get why anyone wants to delve too far, you'll quickly find someone saying some hateful stuff.
It was actually a 22 minute delay before the game started again (82 - 104 minutes). Then we ‘played’ 14 more minutes. Thankfully I haven’t seen a head injury that serious at a live game before, it’s hardly a head knock that happens every week, Evans is an odious individual. I’d rather be in the National League than have anything to do with him.
Although the Stevenage fans acted like absolute scum, one comment from a fan behind me in the terrace showed that there are plenty of goons on all sides. After the restart, we understandably looked a bit lost. He shouted at the top of his voice along the lines of ‘get your head in the game, what are you thinking about!’, although with some choice language added in for good measure, without a hint of irony. I think some people genuinely do forget that footballers are human beings, and certainly at our level, pretty normal people. Luke’s wife was watching and his young son watches him regularly too - when things like yesterday happen all that matters is that he is ok. To be honest, I couldn’t have cared less if we scored after the restart, it’s just a game.
No, only Leahy. They're just talking plural for head injuries as a category. Not surprising when our own manager had a number of them, finally causing him to have to retire.
Yes. Because if the dregs are ignored en mass, you run the danger that they are empowered because they aren’t challenged.
This is actually the biggest problem with social media and the echo chambers it breeds. The dregs have there awful views and opinions validated by other odious individuals and they start to feel bigger and more important than they actually are. it’s how awful individuals become awful movements.
history is littered with examples of people turning blind eyes to things they shouldn’t be ignoring. And then say “oh but I didn’t know that was going to happen…”
As far as the total of 40 minutes added on across both halves, is there any way of finding out if this is a record? All I could find is a 2019 game (Burton and someone) where they played an extra 28 minutes owing to floodlight failure, but I would be shocked if they beat the combined total.

You know it's time to quit looking don't you?
It's hard to avoid!
That is a very good call.
Football League Paper gave the ref 7 out of 10. I've often suspected they don't actually watch the games.

I wonder if we’ll ever get the full story of what was going on with the massive wait after Luke had been taken off.
But at the same time, if you quit looking at it, it doesn’t stop it from continuing and you run the danger of ending up looking ignorant.
Is it actually a problem to be "ignorant" of the dreg opinions of loads of moronic ranting fools on "X"?
Believing a few twunts on Twitter represent any particular club or anything else is probably a bigger issue.
X no doubt has its place for quick updates, snippets and soundbites, but I don't get why anyone wants to delve too far, you'll quickly find someone saying some hateful stuff.
My assumption was that all of the medical staff from both benches had gone down the tunnel with Luke to get him to the ambulance.
Therefore the ref couldn’t start the game until there was a minimum amount of medical staff on the benches.
Completely uneducated guess though
Have I missed something, the cloud says we have to take “head injuries” seriously, cant disagree with that. We’re both Hanlan and Leahy head injuries?

Says the bloke who asked to be DM'd the name of someone who might have been part of a right wing gathering in London yesterday

You don't have to delve far at all to come across that on football Twitter, unfortunately. Or any part of Twitter, really.
Why delve at all, I never look at anything on X, a complete torrent of drivel facilitated by the odious Elon Musk.
There are far better sites to engage with, this one being a shining example, even if the Guardianistas are over-represented.

Just stick to the safe and friendly space of the gasroom. Obviously with a few exceptions.🤣

Wasn't there a game at Pompey this season where the ref and replacement ref both got injured? I'm sure that went on for a ridiculously long time.
Not the same context but from a time when they played on until a goal was scored.
