I refer my learned gasroomites to my post on page one and say that I am, 100%, absolutely not ever so slightly disappointed at coming home with only a point.
But had we burgled Oxford for those 3 points with a very soft pen, I would have be absolutely cockahoop.
Sitting in the car with no sign of moving at 5:45. And people complain about AP. Feels like a loss right now but for a period after their first it looked bleak so overall fair enough. Ref highly inconsistent, usual minor handbags about seats and standing and a flare. The Oxford stewards are timorous. In our row when a highly aggressive family got stuck into some standers, the steward at the end sheepishly shrugged his shoulders and shuffled off. Typical Oxford trip.
More than just a slight over reaction... One photo where he doesn't have his arm around his teammates. Besides, if he doesn't want to put his arm around his teammates (possibly because he's Irish and has understandable views about the British Army) then who cares?
However, even assuming that (or anything for that matter) from one photo is a stretch. People getting upset for the sake of it!
It’s one of those things that people lose their shit over. But being not for something doesn’t mean you are against it. I’m sure he has his reasons and I respect him for being faithful to them.
Many 1000s of Irish people also lost their lives during the two world wars. It’s not a flag waving celebration of British military operations is it? It’s remembering those who died of all nationalities including Irish people.
He's standing a step to the left of his teammates. Is that such a problem?
Without wanting the match day thread to descend into a political debate after such a good game - I'm very sure I can find a large number of perfectly reasonable Irish folk who would very much disagree with your statement. Each to their own.
I’m sorry but if they/we are holding a minute's silence in October for ‘Remembrance’ it completely devalues the whole point of having a Remembrance Day (in my view).
If it was for the people who have/are being killed in the Middle East/Ukraine that’s a valid reason for a minute’s reflection/silence (again in my view).
Closest home league game to it was the reason given.
Not sure if they'd made arrangements before getting the home FA cup draw next weekend, or wanted to give it a fuller respect by having it for a big game against us, rather than with all due respect little game v Maidenhead.

We need to work out how to stop conceding soft late goals.
Was dad with you, @Glenactico ?

Yep, @micra. Like him I was one of those not in my allocated seat. Although I was close.
Is it true that Philips disrespected the minutes silence before the game ?
If this is all, I think it's a slight overreaction... https://twitter.com/COYY2016/status/1718306822304485762?t=uHVBDL2UcQ3ya7aqWcqxgw&s=19
Who was the silence for?
He was...not sat in the right seat though!

Sorry, I should know better than to expect an answer to a genuine question on here.

So it was a remembrance silence? Unusual to do it two weeks early, especially when they're at home again next week.

If only it was that simple. The whole thing has become hijacked way beyond what it was originally meant to represent.

Remembrance Day in Ireland is in July. Read a book.

I noticed at the time Phillips continued gently limbering up during the silence.
Doesn't bother me but clearly it will annoy the flagshaggers.
But he’s not in Ireland is he? If a British person disrespected the Irish remembrance on July 11th i don’t think it would go down too well.
The British army are estimated to have killed 188 civilians during the Troubles, so there is that...
Unsurprisingly there's plenty of the flag shagging kind on the Facebook group.
Phillips was just... moving about a bit during the silence anyway? It's not like he was belting out 'Come Out, Ye Black and Tans'. It's a non-issue.
You can never predict how a forum thread will end but never in a million years did I think Oxford away would end up in The Troubles.
The troubles with holding a lead AMIRITE?
Absolutely
35,000 Irishmen were killed in WWI, 200,000 fought for the Allies.
