A goalie is part of the defence, if he's reliable and made saves that's no different to defenders making blocks. We were decent today but I don't think anyone is claiming we're the finished article or going to storm the league. Some of the late subs with Sadlier still to come prove some strength in depth too.
For sure - I got it in the neck for saying Blooms has us going in the right direction on there a few weeks ago, but now everyone agrees. To be fair that was after Rovers...I was not confident myself after a pair of 3-0 opening defeats!
The attendance was a little bit concerning today seeing as there hadn’t been a home game for a while, a fraction over 4000 home fans.
Not sure if anything was clashing with the game, whether there’s a bit of apathy (surprising given the upturn in form) or whether people are struggling with the cost.
If there was to be an official Gasroom match report, I would nominate @Glenactico to write it. Always well thought out, interesting, and more or less on the money.
Cost is one of the reasons I don’t attend any more. After being a season ticket holder, I just couldn’t justify the cost of the extras such as parking and fuel, not to mention if I got peckish and didn’t have a chance to stop off on the way. I tried parking away from the ground and walking but this was another reason I stopped going - there was times when it felt uncomfortable walking down Hillbottom after a game. This was definitely a post-Covid thing as I never felt unsafe previously.
Yep, pretty poor turnout without the usual go to excuse of holidays.
You have to respect the cost of living crisis and that some people simply don't have 20-30 for a ticket every other week.
But it does get me at times when the same people seem to manage to have hours of boozing before and after, load of food and pay a tenner to park instead of just walking a tiny distance further out.
(Disclaimer being people who are able bodied walkers obviously!)
I often spend large parts of the game providing 'feedback' to the officials. Trying to come up with some slightly more erudite remarks after the game is my way of balancing things out!
Some of them thought they should have had a pen for a handball and some yellows and fouls went the wrong way to.
No wonder refs seem to favour home sides and bigger sides really when you put it like that Holmer. The old saying about making your own luck comes in, should it have been a pen / a red / a goal? Wouldn't matter to you so much if you were 3-0 up and the more time spent in the opposition half the less likely you are to be on the recieving end.
Having watched that back, I think Blackpool can feel a bit hard done by a couple of times there. Vokes looks offside when he scores, and Rhodes looks onside when it's disallowed.
Their goal looked very much onside, and I have seen still shots already supporting that.
It is what it is - I don't like it, but we have been on the receiving end of unfairly disallowed goals more than we have benefitted, over the past few years.
The Blackpool goal looked offside to me (Lino very confident) but so does Vokes’ goal on the highlights.
I was expecting a strong Blackpool side today (ex-Championship and featuring Jordan Rhodes). But we were the better side on the day and probably dominant for two thirds of the game.
Great to see two strikers score the goals, that’s not very Wycombe this season, is it?
I’ve said for a long time that Vokes thrives on crosses and we just don’t seem to play that way with wingers pinging in balls from the byline, with the exception of Garath McCleary.
GMac our best player todaY.
Potts is class and Blooms is getting the lads to play attractive football which is getting results…well done lads!
I thought the ref was excellent yesterday. Always communicating with the players and with a smile. Surely the Blackpool 'goal' was the linesman's decision anyway. As it happens, my initial belief was onside, yet my son judged it off and we were both almost in line. A close call! He booked Forino late on for time-wasting. Chris can't complain as the man in black had twice urged him to keep it flowing.
That was the strangest of experiences - a comfortable Wycombe win.
I thought it was two sides playing in a similar manner and we just did it better than them.
First 30 minutes we were really good and should have been two or three up. Eased up and let Blackpool have a lot of the ball but for the most part they never really looked like doing anything with it - a bit like some of our earlier performances.
But I agree with whoever said it earlier; that was the best and most co-ordinated I’ve seen us play under MB.

Defensively solid doesn't = zero chances for the opposition

Sure, except max is part of that defensive unit. So his saves are one of the reasons we were defensively solid.
The universe might only last another 10-15 billion years so forgive me for not holding my breath
Seconded
The Conference promotion side had 100% support.
No internet did play a part in that.

Today felt big.
The first game we've really comfortably won.
Rovers was close but we let them back into it as did we v Orient. Northampton was a scraped win.
But today was beautiful and we defended well when we dropped a bit.
You obviously never read the Bucks Free Press letters page!
Not to worry though, Martin always set them straight in his programme notes

The Katie Hopkins of the Gasroom speaks again

Well I did lip read a lino saying "If I had to nominate a fan to write a report on my officiating, it would be that @Glenactico chap"...
I think the officials did okay today, I don’t recall any particularly poor decisions.
Agreed. I thought the referee was excellent today
Of course we think he was great today, we won !
Blackpool fans thought he was terrible because our first goal wasn't given off side, and their goal was, when it probably wasn't.
Pretty much the given rule is, if you win he was good, if you didn't he was bad
Their ‘goal’ was clearly off, called it as soon as the cross came in.
Their player barely celebrated.
Some of them thought they should have had a pen for a handball and some yellows and fouls went the wrong way to.

@davecz still unconvinced and only two fairly bland comments from @ReturnToSenda I'm still not sure if I should like that win or not.
Not really sure what I can say about a game I haven't seen yet
I wasn't at the game but feel enlightened by all the comments. It's like Blackpool illuminations in here.
