Where and in place of who? Assuming Taylor is fit do you play him instead of Taylor up front with Vokes? Do you take Potts out of the middle and replace him? He plays well in just about every position he is asked to play in but I'm not sure that his best position (number 10 for me) suits our squad or formation.
Personally I'd go back to a four and have him RW. RWB could be interesting although it would need work and if the same work got a tune out of KVY it might not be worth the bother.
With all the extra time and extra subs and our large numbers of midfielders there's an argument for asking the three in there (if we stay with this formation) to run around like nutters for an hour and then swap them all. Possibly not ideal either but these rule changes will inspire different ways of doing things.
In the system we used against Northampton, Wheeler comes straight in for Philips for me. Once Taylor's back from injury, him and McCleary can be interchangeable based on form/fitness etc.
Interesting that some mention giving him a go at RWB. He's played there a handful of times and been competent, albeit it's certainly not where he's at his strongest. An option to consider could be to play Wheels there in games against the stronger teams whilst KVY comes in against weaker opposition to make use of his (improving!?) attacking strengths.
My preferred system, of course, would still be a 4-2-3-1 with Wheeler, McCleary and Taylor as the attacking midfield 3 with Potts/Scowen/Leahy making up the defensive two.
Interesting that JMac got nowhere near playing even with defenders injured in a ‘backs to the wall’ game. He really has slipped down the pecking order.
MB again made the salient point that with games now routinely 100+ minutes, we are almost going to use 15 or 16 players. Bringing someone on after an hour means 40 minutes on the pitch! I think a significant part of management now is figuring out what "second team" to play for the last chunk of game, and Blooms nailed it on Saturday.
“Starters” & “Finishers” diff skill sets. An eg is Voakes to put it about for sixty minutes and Hanlan comes on to run a tiring defence ragged. That’s the theory at least. Kinda worked on Saturday.
It can't be long before Vokes is benched unfortunately. He needs goals. We need goals. He's barely missing chances, he's just not getting any. I always feel David Wheeler is the kind of player who makes his own chances largely due to his mobility.
David Wheeler will be an ideal replacement for Taylor alongside Vokes. He's wasted when played on his own up front but with Vokes knocking the ball down for Wheeler to run onto, he's clinical. He'll also return the favour, using his foresight and intelligence to cross the ball to Vokes from within the box, allowing him to become more of a goal-hanger.
That's potentially interesting. Presumably if I had bet on Keogh scoring i would have cashed my winnings by now and they (hopefully) couldn't come back and demand their money back. But if i had also bet on GMac scoring would i also be able to collect on that?

Personally I would have Wheels in place of KVY atm. 🤷♂️
Can we clone him and play him everywhere? (Apart from GK)
We haven’t seen him between the posts, I’m guessing he’s decent.

He's been injured, behind Wheeler in terms of match fitness, only been named 3 times in the squad so far.
He got on the pitch at Rovers. Not sure Wheels has been in the squad before last week?
That must have upset Barton.

What a player Wheels is, if they all had his attitude we definitely would win the league.
Doesn't sound like him
This comment made a lot more sense before @perfidious_albion edited his post.
Yeah ! Even I don’t edit after half an hour.
What was @perfidious_albion’s original comment ?
It’s always good to be able to make sense of your posts @drcongo !
It was that classic fat finger schoolboy error you’ve picked me up on before @micra. ‘on’ typed as ‘in’.
“easily done” to quote the father of the house.
As the system allows for edits up to an hour it’s always best to hang back making fun till you know the cock up will stick. IMO😉

Wheeler is the modern day Simon Stapleton. Pretty sure Stapes played in every outfield position whilst at the club.
Wheels times his jump for a header is ‘like a leaping salmon’ (cut and paste to cliche thread)
Salmon are overrated as footballers, though to be fair they don't give away a lot of handballs.
Smoking doesn't help their fitness!
Back to the performance vs result debate, here's a great clip of SAF https://www.instagram.com/reel/CwshfWUsf1D/?igshid=ODk2MDJkZDc2Zg==
Seem to remember his mood being slightly different in 1999 after his Utd side had been battered for 90 minutes by Bayern Munich
The dubious goals committee have awarded our winner to GMac rather than Keogh.
I'd love to sit on the dubious goals committee. Seems like a dream job.
Do you think it actually matters, maybe for contracted bonuses, not sure about betting.
I'm sure the bookies put pressure on it
