I agree with this. Although I'm not in favour of the hundred cricket tournament, as its not proper cricket ! The one thing they have done well which has brought a lot of spectators in is have double headers, women's game followed by the men's. Would certainly get people down there earlier and potentially spending more, plus would be good for the ladies to play on the main pitch, can't believe for one minute they are going to churn the pitch up in doing so.
Double headers make more sense with the women's team than the Dev team. Otherwise you need to find 2 full squads worth of players on a Saturday.
Makes more sense for the Dev team to be ad-hoc midweek and potential first team players can get minutes as needed. Not being in a league probably helps with being able to make lots of subs or even make it 2 X 30 mins rather than 90.
Interestingly there is no mention that Taylor Clark will be part of the development squad from the official article. So have we decided to get rid of it?
Only just noticed the inadvertent tagging spree from a month ago. I think I would have been most suited to the Carlos Lopez role based on my catastrophic lack of talent.
Pro-tip @aloysius - copy the text you want to keep then highlight all the text including the inadvertent tag, and then paste what you copied. At least that was the only way I was able to prevent a tagging disaster of Fukushima proportions when posting to the Gasroom on the phone @aloysius@aloysius yesterday. Bugger...
It's such a shame that there are no reserves leagues anymore. I used to quite enjoy a reserve game down at Loakes Park. I recall going to Marlow to see a reserve match. There was about 10 people in the whole ground so I decided to sit in the disproportionately large seated area on the halfway line. Me and one other sat there just before kick off and were then kicked out as it was members only. I love a petty enforcement of the rules, it really is a joyful thing.
I can't imagine going to an officially termed reserve game, but did go to some game against Reading in what I imagine must have been the B&B cup.
I've no idea why I went, but at the time I had dyed golden hair, which might give an idea to the level of decision making the teen/early 20s version of me was involved in.
Walking 4 miles to the game, without a thought of how i'd be getting home later. On a rainy dark night.
Chatting to a guy who I believe was the local major at the time, who introduced me to his mate, who I believe was Russian and offered a lift home.
The guy then crashed into some sort of barrier/post about 200metres into the drive. Not a great start.
I forget the rest, but I obviously made it to the year 2023.
I don't remember huge amounts from those days, but I do remember for some reason going to a game at Oxford's old ground, solo at the time of the badly dyed blonde hair.
No idea why I happened to be there.
But i do remember a Uni pal saying it looked like a "golden eagle had crapped on me"
I'll admit a chuckle at "he kept a clean sheet for Thame United" and didn't understand what the rest means within the US system...smells a bit of commercial/ link forming but nobody will be complaining if he does well and / or the club does well as a result. Hammering youth players before they've even appeared never a great look.
As for the comment above I wonder if some people realise being an arsehole on the internet isn't actually compulsory.
Bit of a coincidence that he's from the Couhigs home town, no? It's not necessarily a bad thing - it might help them attract American investors, and he might develop well. It's win win.
If that was aimed at me, my comment wasn’t meant as an insult. As PJS said, that would make one hell of a player.
That said, I’ve made an edit, as on reflection I don’t want to be misconstrued, nor to be unwelcoming to a new player. Thanks for the feedback @StrongestTeam

A total non-starter indeed.

Agreed. The double header format is the only positive thing about the hundred.
Watched crisp team A vs crisp team B (in my head, it was Notts v Warwickshire) the other year and really enjoyed both games.
Maybe @bluntphil could get Sam Grace on the next RtB so we can hear plans for the dev team.

We are speaking with Sam at the end of the transfer window. Watch this space...
We’ve signed Taylor Clark, a kid from Needham Market.

I wondered that, but then it’s Sam Grace in the picture with Blooms rather than Richard Thomas.

So Matt Bloomfield signs a Needham Market player. Their home ground? Bloomfields.
Does referring to the ‘development group’ flag a shift in approach or have they always used this terminology?

Pretty sure they've always called it that

I think I remember the local headline: 'Russian Crushing Car When Taking Home Malone'.

How long is your drive?!
Can you ask him about the mythical Trialist D...? (AKA Richard Kone)
Looks like we've just made a PR signing for the dev squad. I wonder if he'll last longer than the previous American lad... https://twitter.com/wwfcofficial/status/1699045247441862657?s=08
Don’t see why that’s a PR signing - what do you know about him?
He looks like the son of Scowen and Ainsworth!
Would be one helluva player
Aren't we a welcoming bunch. Again.

It's becoming a part of the poster's persona I think.

I'm sure it was aimed at me. Yes, I'm being a bit cynical, but I've expanded above. Aren't half some sensitive souls on here.
Drive home...as in he clattered something just outside of Adams Park!
