The costs are very small compared to operating an Academy and I reckon the fee received for Mehmeti would have easily covered them with a fair chunk of profit as well. There is also the possibility of Forino attracting attention from bigger clubs and in the meantime we get an outstanding player who would have cost a considerable fee if we had signed him from another club. It’s based on the model which has proved so successful for Brentford.
you obviously have Sam Grace's salary, any other coaches (?) plus whatever (I imagine low) amounts paid to the players themselves plus equipment, travel, insurance etc. It probably adds up. My guess is that with Mehmeti's sale it roughly breaks even so far which would mean that any Forino sale proceeds would push into profit.
Cautious positive from me, but would need to know real figures to be sure on the history. As for the future, it does depend on finding a Mehmeti/Forino every year or two. Time will tell.
One of the great joys of this forum is that unlike so many others , generally it is possible to discuss and sometimes disagree on football and political issues amicably. It would be a great shame IMHO if this forum went the way of for example the Facebook group.
The aggression and insults in your post do not suggest that any conversation would be productive or for me enjoyable. I suggest therefore we leave it there. I think it is highly disrespectful to criticise a young player earning his first contract who I presume none of his have seen play as a PR signing. You don’t. That’s cool. We are allowed to disagree.
As I say I hope this forum does not go the way of others. I’ll step away for a couple of weeks hoping that will help.
So it didn’t fit your random theory you were starting so you’ve decide to make up posts where people apparently criticised a young player because they suggested there might be some good PR involved and then decided pull the Ejection handle.
ok Gotcha. 👍
If there was any aggression you felt that came across in my post, that was by design. To cut whatever meandering faux-physiology thesis you were working on off at the pass.
You should really read the whole exchange @TheDancingYak because @ReturnToSenda really did kick it all off by suggesting that the signing of Max Cavana was for the PR.
I hate these international breaks and we're not even halfway through it yet.
I did thanks. As you quoted, He said he thought it looked like a PR stunt. That was his opinion.
I have had two basic reactions in this thread I have harped on long enough about but I’ll boil it down again:
So the fuck what if it does have an element of PR stunt about it. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
why is it the same people that jump on certain people for sharing there initial thoughts/reactions/opinions and start demanding they justify those initial thoughts with evidence etc. They then try and justify it by saying “ I’m allowed my opinion”. Yes, you are. But so was the other guy
And yea that second part could be regarded as me whiteknighting for them by my own definition. But no I dont want to sleep with them. It’s too hot.
So can someone enlighten me. Max Cavana gets a work permit/contract. But Pete’s son couldn’t get one which is, allegedly, a reason why he went home? And the wonder striker Kone can’t get a work permit hence no contract. Explanations?

Nobody slated him.
Some would argue labelling him as a "PR" signing could constitute slating him!🤣
So is "black-knighting" when we downplay the seriousness of an injury?
Couhig playing his mates
Excellent post

And that Ladies and Gentlemen is wot we call Passive Aggressive.
Use of the phrase ‘white knight’ is a red flag for me.
What other forums you on @DevC and why did they turn sour?

In fairness, I did say it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. But I should have known it would get blown out of all proportion.
Indeed you did @ReturnToSenda. And, perhaps, your initial comment may have been a bit tongue in cheek?
That really is something that's hard to express. Maybe there's an emoji for it?
Yeah, I should know by now that sarcasm doesn't really transmit well online...

Can asseverate
10/10 post.
I think the yoof would post "you ok hun" to this post. 🤣
Ease down brother, it's just an internet forum

I believe Pete/Rob mentioned in an interview this new American chap had a British parent or something which allowed the deal
