Every forum has an "insider" and on the Wrexham forum theirs reckons the Hanlan deal is done with the player and the club but the club are playing silly beggars with the phasing of the fee.
So let's see...
Another Wrexham fan heard the "goes to pieces in the box" jigsaw nickname Hanlan supposedly has and found it amusing.
Big fan of Uche but I think Hanlan is great as well. He's shown some moments of brilliance and is younger than Uche. A part of me hopes this transfer chain doesn't happen.
I think that used to be called tapping up , they might have permission to chat to him but it's all bs if they don't pay what we want.
Think we are probably full for defenders and midfielders despite some being a little unconvincing so far, and Goalies if we are still eligible for an emergency loan, If we end the day without either a shuffle or addition to our attackers I think we can be a little disappointed.
So listening to some podcasts with professional footballers recently on the tapping up thing, and that was all bs anyway.
They said that basically no club would ever bother wasting their time if they hadn’t already spoken to a player to find out “if we put a bid in for you, would you be interested in joining us”. That convo happens well before any club to club contact asking fees etc and then personal terms. If they get a “no” from the player, they don’t even bother putting a bid in, because what’s the point.
Probably true but it would generally be kept in house, now if you're a half decent footballer your every move is someone else's story or rumour. Must all be paranoid.
I would quite like a player who’s chomping at the bit to join us and restart his career. If he’s happy to wait til something better comes along wait somewhere else.
I don’t think the delay would be anything on uche side. He’s in no rush - not constrained by the window and the wait and lack of rumours of going else where tells me he’s happy with the deal that’s out there and happy to wait for it.
The question is why is there a wait - the only thing I can think of is it’s dependent on the Hanlan deal.
If we were in a position to sign him no matter what, it’d be done by now and in the squad for tomorrow. As the Hanlan deal is stalling then for uche, he has the luxury to wait for us to table something else, or go back out to the market and find a club.
Fankaty Dabo has just signed for Forest Green in League Two and Cov nearly got into the prem last season. Always admired him when playing against us, shame as we need a decent full back!
Its normally the way, everything has prob been done but there will always be 1 or 2 things left to iron out. Something like an Agent's fee, structuring of the transfer fee or a clause.
I don't think we can afford to not sell Hanlan. He is backup at the moment at best but not sure there is much better on the free agent market. We will never get offered that money for him again.
Short on what? A player that had a lot of promise but has scored about 3 goals and has zero end product? As much as I want him to do well, the cash will be more useful to us in the future than he will be.
We will never get offered £300k for him again. I'd cash in and let Tjay stake his claim because I think it is evident that Hanlan will never come good for us.
"Hanlan deal had too many snagging issues on agreement in the end but lead to believe a loan may still be an option as Wycombe have signed a new striker on a free. Armstrong bid was confirmed based on hold ups with Hanlan but seems it’s going to be too late to get it across, they are still at the ground as we speak pushing for one of three.. Harrison looks promising"
No idea how reputable this source is supposed to be, so take with a pinch of salt

Uche seen at Cressex Service Station. Working there.

Like it was 1973 when it first came out.

We normally get a ‘stand down lads,’ tweet when there’s no business to be done on deadline day.

As an entirely speculative thought I wonder if Uche failed his (alleged/reported/made-up) medical and consequently we have dug in with Hanlan.
Uche is probably in no rush at all, lots of clubs have a lot of options tonight, tomorrow morning he might be the only option for a few.
I would quite like a player who’s chomping at the bit to join us and restart his career. If he’s happy to wait til something better comes along wait somewhere else.
More than anything else, I would quite like some attacking players because at the moment are attack is pitifully short of quality.
Yeah, let's not sign him based on one of a thousand random thoughts on a chatroom.
Genuine fair play @bargepole

If we fell through for Uche he'd hope that a few clubs are suddenly struggling for a striker and come a knocking.
Maybe he’s already signed and the club just haven’t announced it yet.

Just wondering, do you think / know if Bristol Rovers agreed a sell on clause with us when we signed Hanlan?

We can't sell him without bringing somoene else in, we're short enough as it is
That’s how I make all of my important decisions.
Now off to put my trousers on the dog.
That's a surprising move, excellent player.

One hour left....
Normally we’ve had the ‘business complete’ tweet by now…

We're short on goals with him, he might not get many, he might get a few or go on a run, who knows, selling only helps if we replace him.
We might not have been offered £300k this time. Can't imagine we'd turn that down.
14 minutes to damp squib o'clock.
