I play in a six a side league where most players are twenty somethings (I'm 42). When playing I fantasise I'm Garner, even doing the corner flag celebration on the rare occasions I score
The Gasroom's Roy Keane and while serving your suspension, can be our Statman..... "@bluntphil has a 85% success rate of attempting to save the ball but missing, @Otter87 can't hit a cows-arse with a banjo, @micra is drinking Red Bull to get his wiings"
@drcongo might need to fill in on the left wing for @ChasHarps , Right wing we'll have plenty to choose from although many of the choices might be the same person. There's only 2 Andy Gorams..2 Andy Gorams.
I was behind the far post about 10-15 rows back and I can still see Keith Ryans finish rolling in. That Oxford team had some bloody good players in it. For the younger fans who didn’t know those days, I think we were undefeated away from home against the top 7/8, winning 3 of them including against exceptional Birmingham and Huddersfield sides.
And the players up front in the top teams included Paul Moody, Ricky Otto, Steve Claridge, Dave Regis, Robert Taylor, Andy Booth, Ronnie Jepson, Marcus Stewart, Joey Beauchamp and Nicky Forster. The giant Kevin Francis was at Stockport as well. Not to mention Garner and Regis and must have been plenty of others too.
Still boils my piss that only the top 5 made playoffs / automatic rather than top 6 that year 😡.
It was a hell of good league that year, you also had Neil Lennon and Ashley Whateverhisnamewas at Crewe that always got relegated from the Premier League.

I still can’t believe Cyrille Regis played for us. Him together with Simon Garner, now that’s a proper striking partnership.
I was too young to realise Garner was a big name, but Regis was pure excitement.
You also look back at players who at the time were a lot older than you, and think 34 & 36, really aren't that old!
Garner is still my favourite Wycombe player of all time.

(And being first int pub after)
On the 93/94 season video Garner is asked what he thought about about Carroll's second at Wembley...
'He should have passed it to me'
Legend

'give me the ball lads..I'm going to drive it into the London Road terrace and knock out one of those c@nts'
Should we create a Gasroom 6-a-side team?
'A determined and well-drilled side.' Well you know what you are going to get with Wycombe
Ah, @LX1 but do you light a fag at the same time? 😊
Don’t know wether it’s my mind playing tricks, but I seem to remember him coming out of the tunnel and stubbing a cig out on the post
Most certainly so
Bluntphil in net. Micra ont wing. Otter87 goal poacher
Micra left back……
Answers on a postcard.
@ReturnToSenda box to box midfield, biting at the ankles of the players in the middle
I did once get sent off in PE for kind of doing that

I imagine you more as a chopper Harris type!

What a day out that was!

@MorrisItal2 Is that JJ & Scowen being funny in that video?
It’s probably @micra and myself judging by the age of the video.
Sky saying Uche having medical at Wycombe. Is this Titanic news?
Heskey couldn’t even score against me when he turned up to a corporate 5-a-side competition as a ringer.
My one actual sporting achievement.
Man nailed to cross.
