He’s a good passer but requires time on the ball because he plays at such a slow tempo. Whenever his decisions are forced to be rushed by a decent press he struggles in my opinion. He’s flat footed and wooden. In Ainsworth’s system he was a perfect fit. He had time on the ball in the middle of a 3 or in a slow-paced diagonal-focused back 2 long ball system. I think our new style of play is a poor fit for his skillset.
GA almost always favoured a back four, surely? Not sure what a ‘slow-paced diagonal-focused back 2 long ball system’ is, I must update my coaching manual.
Low has bags of potential & is already pretty decent; I would absolutely favour him & Forino either side of Taf or Keogh if MB sticks to 3 CBs.
Boyes & KVY should be our first choice FB/WBs which is maybe harsh on Grimmer but he has proved to be far too gung-ho as a WB leaving our plodding CBs horribly exposed on his side of the pitch.
I guess I must be losing the plot because from Covid onward I'd have guessed we played a back 3 at least 33% of the time until Gaz eventually left. It felt almost 50/50 between back 4 or 5.
MB has said that we are going to be 'streetwise' tonight. I assume that means a bit more physical. The referee has already shown 12 yellows and 1 red in his first two games of the season.
Only speaking from memory, but in recent times Grimmer/McCarthy and JJ were usually the full backs in a back 4 that has included the likes of Stewart, Forino, Charles etc in central defence. I don’t have the stats for every game, but GA was certainly a back 4 man in his early period as manager

A cruel joke as bargepole gambled away his rental property when he had four kings but the other player had five aces.
Polarised discussion as always.
He didn't lose to a guy called Del Boy by any chance?
Which came first
The chicken or the egg
3 points or the new shirt.
Leahy has the most creativity and goal threat doesn't he? By quite a way?
Well to sweeten the evening, they are going to have Neapolitan ice cream
No #badgetalk?
Sorry, I got carried away with @bargepole and his "friend's" poker night
Having taken a quick straw poll, here’s hoping for a quiet night for our Pole in the goal.
Surely taf is one of the better passers you'll get in this tier?
Bit harsh on Low, didn't he play in our only victory this season, conceding zero goals?
I want Boyes to play left back. Didn’t understand why he was left out on Saturday.
Was going to say the same, why pick on Low ? He's played one game was very good apparently, and we won !

A Low blow

Almost always.
I think almost always is accepted to mean 90% rather than 100% of the time and that certainly applies to GA’s use of a back 3.

Oh oh.
I think he just meant that the players are going to memorize the London A-Z in their down time.

33% of the time for about 3 years and not much before over 10 years is about 10%
So 3-5-2 then...
Clearly sticking with a back three. Forino injured ? Surprised Potts not included. Will be interesting to see Phillips play.
No Forino?
