Thought he did okay and agree that he's got the positioning, passing and tackling ability to handle the CDM position. For me, I think he would be a good auxiliary option in this area but don't think he'd start in this position ahead of Scowen or Leahy for me. Would even potentially put him behind Young (who looked quite tidy in his Aldershot cameo) and the potentially incoming Dejan Tetek, but it's definitely an option for MB to keep in mind.
Thanks. I wonder whether Matt might be thinking about using JJ there as an alternative to signing Tetek.
if fit, Scowen will always get selected, and will always stay on for the full 90. Therefore Blooms might just feel he has enough back up already with Young and JJ to cover any injuries.
We could maybe then use the funds for a left sided defender.
We’ll see. Maybe both JJ and Tetek will get another run out in midfield on Tuesday at Wealdstone.
I can’t imagine JJ has the legs for that position, at least if it’s similar in approach to how Scowen plays. He might be able to play more like a quarterback, but that would require a fundamental change in tactics.
Perhaps I’m being overly negative, but I do not want to see a 36/37 year old left back playing in a two man midfield for more than 10 mins in a game. How often do you see 36+ year olds succeed in midfield in the recent era (post-2015). Milner, Modric and draw the line there? And they played in three man midfields. I like the fact Matt is testing these things in pre-season though. It could be a reasonable ‘shut out’ strategy late on in a scrappy game.

If this season sees Mellor and TJ stepping up. I will be very pleased...it's a long season. And it's up to them to grasp the opportunity.
Gawd almighty defensive error yes but he still had lots to do. We would love that goal in the League! A goal is a goal even for the purists!
Apologies if this has already been mentioned...but do we know who the trialist who scored was?
Suggestion was Sean Adarkwa ex West Ham youngster released from Arbroath.
I was at the game and I’m 90% certain the goal scorer was not Adarkwa.
It doesn’t look like him in the photo.
Well this is Adarkward
“released by Arbroath” must be the definition of diamonds in the rough.
No, it's when a woman drops her wedding ring just off the fairway at St. Andrew's.
Lol. Brilliantly niche
