There's clearly a few who think he isn't up to it and should be moved on, plenty more, seemingly including Blooms think he's improving and could play his part. If we can land someone else and he's pushed down the list a bit or eventually gets squeezed out it doesn't mean he wasn't worth a punt.
I'm not a fan generally of pushing players towards the exit door unless we have lots of better options or they are lazy or rubbish, not at all certain TJay will go on to be a key player but he certainly doesn't fit that criteria either.
I'd ideally have Tjay behind Mellor as support striker honestly. We've seen he can create chances for others and isn't selfish even though that means he's not getting goals himself. Mellor thrives when the ball is on the ground. The two could work well together (we saw a glimpse of that early last season on the one moment they did play together and Tjay set up Mellor)
A couple of weeks ago Mellor was seen as very much on his way out. A couple of pre-season goals and suddenly he could be an important player in the season ahead in a team that currently has limited attacking options.
De Barr has yet to really break through. Perhaps he will, perhaps he would benefit from half a season on loan in a league below.
I agree, if we get another forward in I don't think it would be a bad thing for Tjay to go out on loan for a few months to just get some regular game time in his legs
A Reading season ticket hold came with me to a game late last year. TJ played well in that and my friend picked him out as Wycombe's best player that day. He needs to bring that every week, once given a chance.
I recall that Bevan looked nothing special the first year and then found his feet, with his excellent close control buying him time to get effective shots off. I believe TJ has the potential to do something similar. I just hope he can show it this season.
How desperate can you possibly be to be proven right that you are unwilling to even consider any other possible take on your instinctive position - even if that leads to better outcomes for the club you support.
Baffling, Tjay always gives 100% even to the point of passing out and has never said anything particularly controversial, I think he’s going to push on this season but if he doesn’t er..he doesn’t so why the dislike .
I really don’t think it is a dislike of the lad himself just that people may think he isn’t up to it yet, whereas some people think he is.
I personally don’t think TJ is what we need right now but I have also said I hope he proves me wrong and brilliant if he does.
As for differing opinions, well that’s what this site is about surely, different opinions with the one overriding factor, that we all want the best for the club.
Can’t understand why anyone would be so dismissive of TJ. He’s a great lad, very popular with the rest of the squad; an international, albeit with one of the smallest nations; his work ethic is second to none and he must be an absolute pain to play against. Also, he’s only 23 and will continue to improve. In short, a valuable asset to the squad.
Think there's a lot more of it these days, if more regular on the terrace or Facebook, some people would rather be first to say someone isn't up to it, hammer them for 2 years and be supposedly proven right about it should they move on than give the player the benefit of the doubt and be supportive. Hard not to blame social media banter and TV first/only fans for that spreading.
TJay doesn't need to score 20 goals this season to be a helpful member of the squad. Seems like a nice kid and will make contributions and improve. Probably on peanuts compared to some.

I think Vokes was playing with an injury at the end of last season, similar to Wheeler. Not expecting to see either at the start of the season.
More concerning to see Grimmer, Ward and Hanlan disappear after one preseason game.
Forino said he can play from this week. So we will see if he is staying or going.
Scowen a massive worry
You did. I’d thought covid as a reason he couldn’t be there. I’m very much hoping it was nothing more serious.
Covid can be a little bit serious…
If MB wants to adapt play to suit Mellor then him and Tjay could be a partnership we see more of.
I feel like there's someone on here who really hates Tjay because almost every recent post I see on here that mentions him positively gets down voted.

For the record I don’t rate him but would never 👎those that do. A spectrum of opinions should be welcomed on a discussion forum.
Fact that Mellor starts ahead of him suggests where he fits in though.

De Barr is a great closer down, loves a barge and put in a few decent assists when he got in fairly regularly.
However, he's certainly got it all to do to be a regular starter.
Mellor even more so.
However, maybe both have improved dramatically over the summer, young players can do that.

Get where your going but it's harsh on Beavon who created a lot first year but didn't score many until the next season.
Yeah I thought I was misremembering. I liked Beavon even when he wasn’t scoring. Grafter.
Taylor looks like the answer. Great signing.
The answer or The Player?
Both!
Does this count as a 3pm on Saturday win for MB?
Yes. There's one particular poster who not only really dislikes Tjay, but also really dislikes people who like him.
Bit weird really that isn’t it?

Maybe one of our Spanish fanbase has a thing about Gibraltar

It is, but to suggest he'd struggle to start for Beaconsfield Town was a bit OTT
OGS holds the record for the most goals from the bench in one PL game (4 vs the Gasroom's second team, Forest)
Yep exactly
Also I tried to edit that comment and it got banished to the "pending approval" abyss
Maybe.
