As I recently discovered, @ReturnToSenda, you have to type the asterisks as you’re typing the word you want italicised - not after you’ve completed the sentence.
No shame there @eric_plant, the vast majority of people have no idea. I'm also fully aware that to a lot of people I sound like a flat-earth, 9/11-was-an-inside-job type nutter, but in this case it's all true. No really, it is!
I think lots of people know but either don't want to think about it or as Tom says above believe it's all kind of out there anyway.
A good deal of the warnings come from people who work in that sector it's not just mad conspiracy types, the nutters absolutely love Facebook and Twitter as they enable them to artificially boost their influence.
When it comes to the authorities never ascribe to intelligence or a plan what can be just as easily explained by their incompetence.
There is a saying that civil servants don't look out the window in the morning because they will have nothing to do in the afternoon; I am assured by many of my aquaintances who are civil/public servants that this is broadly true...
Wasn't it to do with the proposed expansion of the ULEZ zone into outer London boroughs, which some voters blamed on the Labour Mayor. Without that local issue, Labour would probably have won comfortably.
If they think they can implement popular environmental policies without controversy they are in trouble. In other news Aylesbury Council is kicking people off their allotments with two weeks notice to 'expand the cemetery' . GIven how many people are buried nowadays expand it into a new housing estate is my theory. (If they can get planning permission of course!)
Some noisy opposition to the ULEZ implementation in London is something the Tories clung to. Can't imagine there were many other selling points. They seem likely to take that into the Mayoral election. Winning a seat deemed safe enough for a prospective PM a few years ago by a handful of votes is not the great win they may claim it is but you can see why they do it.
The Tories other key policies in the area were to stop the closure of Uxbridge police station, which happened a few weeks before the election and to rebuild the Hillingdon Hospital which has been due to be done for years with little progress. Unfortunately their attack campaign was successful in putting blame on Labour, when Mr Johnson started the Police station closures himself when Mayor of London.
If the Labour leadership had some clear vision of hope and strong policies it could of been a more successful outcome. Even without it they could of taken a stronger counter-attack to deal with the hypocrisy of the Conservative pledges. Instead it was a pretty dour campaign of we're the only other party that can win this seat so chose us...
Cuts suddenly not needing to happen weeks before a by election, can't be any coincidence there surely...Wonder if the outgoing and his pledges around runways came up.
Anyone remember then Home Sec of the party of Law and Order, Theresa May telling the Police Federation to stop 'crying wolf' as crime stats were falling, promptly made drastic cuts in police numbers, which saw crime figures rise, increase stress on an already stretched service, leading to officers departing and confidence in the service reaching rock bottom?
The party of law and order is now crowing about replacing (sort of) the officers they cut.
Congratulations to High Wycombe CC who won the Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division One today. They beat Slough by 10 wickets and became champions with two matches still to play. They are unbeaten so far this season.
HWCC finished the season on Saturday with a win against Wokingham, and unbeaten for the season. The next four teams all lost five matches. Only Henley have been unbeaten before (2019), looking at online records available from 2003. The league started in 2000.
HWCC finished 63 points ahead of the next team, a record for the league.
Another weird thing is that I would never guess the largest stadium, in India, held 132,000 based on the Wikipedia photo. It looks big, but not "Half as big again as Wembley" big:

Thanks and bloody hell
This all sounds absolutely terrifying. I'm ashamed to say I know nothing about any of this stuff
Again, it's all pretty dystopian, but do we really think the government doesn't know all of this info and more? We're powerless.
The government doesn't even have a complete and accurate list of all the schools in the country. Don't overestimate their competency.
I can easily imagine them having a comprehensive list of the information they *don't* need.

You’re welcome !!

So does this mean, when we meet up in London on 3rd August, that you'll be easily recognisable as the one wearing a tin foil hat?

@Erroll_Sims as I know a few who work in Westminster all I can say is...I could not possibly comment.
Would normally agree but few too many of them seem to have been caught with fingers in the till recently even by their own standards.
I hadn't realised, but dear old Laurence lost his deposit in the Uxbridge by-election. Shame ...
Paid for by his supporters...doubt he's losing sleep.
I assume the ‘silent majority’ were sent incorrect directions to the polling booths by the woke blob?
Not sure why losing Uxbridge by only 500 votes means Sir Keir has to put the boot into the London mayor.

Sometimes the right policies aren’t electorally popular.

Quite amazing considering ULEZ was a Johnson policy that was imposed on the Mayor by none other than than Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps.

Sorry if I offended one of the people who waved this through.

Eight of the ten biggest sports stadiums are for American College Football teams….
