To be fair, Aarons did score the only goal against Shrewsbury in the home game that season, which was vital. I think Smyth did score the one too, against Bolton's kid on the opening day?
Loanees are a mixed bag. Campbell's spell was a bit uneven, but I think he scored three and assisted a couple too, which really put him right up there for production against some others.
Campbell was unbelievably green when he arrived with us. He clearly has technical ability but the bench were constantly telling him where to stand, when to track back, where to position himself when we were attacking, etc it was crazy. He was also incredibly frustating wanting to beat the same man once, twice, thrice before delivering a cross. Sometimes it seemed he was there was there for his showreel.
U23 players are a lot of work for experienced coaches like Dobbo let alone a new management / coaching team. And then there is the off the field management of kids who are leaving the Premier League pampered bubble probably for the first time and find themselves in a house share or living with a willing fan's family. Loans are difficult to find and difficult to manage, they certainly don't just slot in and add from day 1.
Tafari Moore almost scored an incredible solo goal on his debut, I remember. The ball came to him on the halfway line and he zoomed past players, jinked into the box and just failed to get it past the keeper.
Chem Campbell looked a decent player at our level. However was quite obviously dominantly right footed. I would have loved to have seen him as a GMac understudy coming on as a 60 minute right wing sub
Looked like he'd be a good player, very quick but couldn't really defend, and although he could bring the ball forward he didn't seem to know what to do with it, not a very good passer or crosser. Bit harsh as he was very young but he was out of his depth and I'm pretty sure Harriman was rushed back from injury as soon as physically possible.
I hear one of the chairs broke at Loftus road, the ticket printer ran out of ink, and the fuse went in the kettle at the training ground but it doesn't naturally follow that Ainsworth sent someone down to AP to restock.
Although printer ink, fuses and kettles are pretty much the same quality wherever you buy them from. The same can’t be said of goalkeepers and a little inside knowledge goes a long way.
You’d have to imagine Max is on his shortlist. Although he may go for a more conservative choice given he hasn’t exactly won over the fans just yet.
I doubt it. Gaz already has an ex Wycombe keeper at QPR in Jordan Archer that he previously signed and played with for us. That ticks the box. QPR also have another ex Wycombe keeper on the books in Mahoney.
I think Max is great but there will be loads of other proven and up and coming keepers available and I'm not aware that he's being linked with lots of other clubs who all scout and almost all have more money than us.
Maybe the squad isn't that bad if people genuinely believe a championship club are trying hard to sign half of them.
My QPR work mate reckons they are pretty well off for keepers, and shouldn't be looking for more. He reckons Jordan Archer was unlucky not to play more last season as it was
Smyth's return has been pretty well received, nostalgia factor a little bit. I am not sure the QPR are completely convinced yet on GA. The direction of travel they seem to be feeling is downward so continually shopping in league 1 is not going to help.
Reminds me of the fuss they kicked up after Stewart Houston and some other odd arsenal types had taken over and trashed their team with youth teamers, have to think they'll see Ainsworth as we saw Waddock until proven otherwise.

As I said above “ask….how that worked out a season later”. Nailed on relegation prospects.
Haha - okay, where Eze is a 10 and Aarons is a 1, three 6's or 7's might do it.
Let's not re-ignite the Aarons v Smyth debate again.
I was still willing Aarons to produce even in his last game, whereas Smyth I never really got at all.
Neither are 1s though. That Man City right back we played as a right winger was down there.

I remember one game he came on and ripped a full back to bits and looked too good for this tier, but largely looked no better than what we had.
Difficult mission loanees.

As far as recent loanees go - I liked Randell Williams and Tafari Moore (now playing for Oxford City!)
Football is a strange game!
My mind is boggled that Tafari Moore has had to drop to that level (no disrespect to Oxfords best club).
I seem to remember him as being a reasonably competent player, certainly not out of his depth, and I was quite disappointed he didn’t stay with us.

Yep, against Col U

ibthinknits @Alexo?
I love that's it's not just me that keeps missing the space bar with mynfatbfingers!
QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng has completed his move to Middlesbrough this morning. Could be squeaky bum time for a week or two regarding Max.
I wonder what Nathan Bishop has got planned for the next 12 months now that Lee Harrison is back.

True it doesn’t.

No chance. He's good but I don't think the egos of QPR will allow them to sign a league 1 'keeper
They signed a League 1 manager and a League 1 winger (Smyth).
Smyth's return has been pretty well received, nostalgia factor a little bit. I am not sure the QPR are completely convinced yet on GA. The direction of travel they seem to be feeling is downward so continually shopping in league 1 is not going to help.
They did, and that adds to why their fans won't want their next signing to also be from a lower league. They could obviously do worse for a keeper.
In the case that they sack him in a few weeks regardless they'd want anyone they see as one of his cronies gone too.

I hate typing on bloody phones 😅
Agreed, I use my phone for ... er ... making phone calls, and my laptop for posting inane drivel in the Gasroom.
Sounds like Wing is going to end up at QPR according to the rumours on the QPR twitter pages.
If Gaz still loves us he'll offer £10 million for him.
I'd love it if we kept getting paid for players not under contract to us! I'd take 100,000 for Wing - I'm not greedy!
Yes, out of contract unfortunately.
