Just when it seemed ideal on all levels, keep him out of our way and hopefully help Gillingham back to our tier so I got to have the excuse of a family visit / close away game!
I think the "temp" stand has been there decades now and was always taking the P as away fans got drenched while the covered home areas were empty. Hopefully some of their new money will go on facilities.
I dunno, QPR have changed their management team as Les Ferdinand has now gone. I reckon they might be looking to bed him in. (Unless they are bottom and several points away from the next team)
I often do a quick search of twitter to see who we are being linked to. It really is quiet out there. Our recruitment team is doing an amazing job building a squad so quietly and effectively.
I am not too worried if the signings come in slowly - I actually think that as long as we keep everyone healthy, we could start the season in arguably better shape than last season (though minus Anis it feels weird to say that), when we did not have a L1 standard goalkeeper. Not a huge fan of having to start JJ at LB or Young in midfield, but the team below would be decent.
Ultimately, this is always a game of musical chairs, and there will be players with no club and loanees out there for us as the season draws near. Yes, in an ideal world we would get them all in early, but it is what it is.
I agree broadly with your points - my post was more about if we had to start the season without having the full squad finalized. In other words, we have a starting 11 who could still get something against Exeter, etc.
Gape and Thompson hardly kicked a ball last season (or the season before)- no real depth there really. Obita missed a good chunk of the season and I feel was only rated because of our lack of left sided players. Wing played well in fits and starts. I’m not too pessimistic based on losing that four
My expectation is that the loanees will be the key. I think this may also be how Rob is saying the budget is about the same for players this season.
I expect some young starlets on board to compliment and assist our oldies who have the knowledge and experience to help the young guns and work along side them.
If parent clubs are paying all... or a big chunk of their players wage in return for game time and experience.. possibly Rob can twist in his lawer brain, that the budget and quality of players is like last year???
To be honest ibthinknits the way to go with our budget. We can't keep heamoriging cash year on year.... quality experienced pros that we own suplimented with young fresh talented legs.
Good points @Alexo - it's like we have a good permanent spine (Max, Forino, Taffs, Scowen, Vokes) and we just need some loaned organs, muscles and sinew.
The loan market is so competitive, both in terms of cash and proving player development. I don't think we have either. MB is an unknown in management terms and we don't have the pastoral pull we had when Bayo was with us. I think we will be far further down the loan pecking order than we were and this will mean we get loanees later and probably inferior.
Loanees! ask the franchise fans (all five of them) how that worked out a season later. It’s a sticking plaster solution and they tend to come off in the bath before the blister has healed.

QPR sold their goalie. Cue the Max Stryjek rumours from TranferNews7776342374239847.44.
GA and MB both with backs against the wall to start a season.
GA: QPR fans seem to mostly hate him as a manager, and expect relegation. Incoming players are not twinkled toed starlets.
MB: Struggling to get players through the door. Lower budget than last season.
Why do I feel like at least one of them (if not both) is going to prove everyone wrong?

Gaz has got to get promotion to the Prem...MB has to keep us in League One and threaten a playoff push.
One of them.might not be in a job come Christmas.
That sounds a very wide range for MB.
Staying up a hugely different challenge to playoffs.
Let's hope it's not raining that day, worst away ground left now?
A link that may have helped is that GMac played in the same Forest team as Kian's dad Tim !!
Gaz gone by Christmas. We all know what QPR are like.
I've only been there once, but yes, the seating seemed a bit on the hastily/temporary side didn't it?
Plus finding how to get to our end was strangely awkward too.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves (as MB would apparently say) before GA’s newly-assembled QPR side have played at least half a dozen or so games!
@Malone I think we will possibly settle for a bit less than total success...not sure QPR will.
Former transfer target Sam Lavelle is joining Carlisle.

I'm trying not to think of the old footy game where one board message was "battle bravely against relegation".
Hopefully our aspirations are still a notch or 2 above that this season.
Depends if we've 'blown the play-offs' after ten games like last season @Malone 😁

Stryjek
Grimmer
Forino
Taffs
JJ
Scowen
Wheeler
Young
Hanlan
McCleary
Vokes
My expectations have become somewhat tempered compared to any of the previous 3 seasons. Maybe a real good run in the League and FA cups.
I'll be devil's advocate.
Forino and Taff have not had a season between them in three years. JJ is aging. Grimmer is therefore our only reliable centre half.
Vokes 6 goals, Hanlan 3 goals. Thats relegation strikers and also barely a season between them.
Young is an enigma. Still the recipient of the longest contract I can recall and barely a game since signing.
This is a squad in need of a major overhaul. We lost quality in Wing and we lost depth in Obita, Gape and Thompson.
I would say that this is the biggest transfer window since our flirtation with the championship.
I agree broadly with your points - my post was more about if we had to start the season without having the full squad finalized. In other words, we have a starting 11 who could still get something against Exeter, etc.
Half of them are probably injured, but we havnt been told

The loanees might be the key to it all. If we could get two or three who are more Eze than Aarons, I'd be chuffed.

Sounds good to me

On second thought, that sounds weird.

Agreed, if we can manage to get 3 future international players who have a talent embarrassingly higher than the division we're in it could be ok 😁

It worked out ok for Plymouth.
