Wycombe with Bloomfield is a far harder sell than Wycombe of two years ago when Ainsworth and Bayo were in the building. Both were seen as role models in different ways and safe homes for precious assets especially when it came to loans. It’s a competitive market out there.
Considering the lack of players we have I've been surprised by the lack of rumours. Only one i've seen is the aforementioned loan move but we're up against Charlton and Derby apparently. Hopefully we're just really good at keeping things quiet!
Rob, Pete and Matt joining Phil for Ringing the Blues on Thursday. Can’t imagine they’d be putting themselves up for that without at least one signing being announced this week.
Heartily agree with with comments on GA, Dobbo and Bayo but I just recall during our usual 'No new players' pearl clutching when they were here, there were those who believed no-one would come here...or let their players come here because of the tactics and reputation...though of course they often did!
If we have no money, no-one signs and we have to struggle through the season with a small, aging injury hit squad, it's not like we've not seen it all before while being told not to worry by managers and owners! 😉
I think this ghost ship of a thread is largely caused by other teams around us signing some pretty darn decent players. Coupled with that some gaping holes in our squad that have been gaping for a couple of windows now (a goal scoring striker for example) sill remaining gaping. Last season we stuttered as we had such a hangover from the play-offs and this season I was hoping we would hit the ground running on the transfers. But having a head of recruitment join us as the players return from their holidays suggests we were never going to sign players early.
I'm not convinced by our pre-season schedule. And it just feels like last season all over again. But with an inexperienced manager.
My worry is more the budget. If the Couhigs have reduced the playing budget, which is more than likely, then Matt will struggle to get in the players he wants.
Maybe some loan signings from his contacts and friends such as Russell Martin and GA for instance.
Really looking forward to Thursday’s Ringing the Blues. No shortage of content. All the players we’ve signed, ground and catering improvements and the building of the yellow brick road.!! Pete, Rob and Matt are setting themselves up if there’s no news.
Really? This is no slight at Phil, but you couldn’t get more of an easy room than going on a radio show hosted by a club employee with a prevetted set of questions.
Signings to be announced or not, it’s one of the easiest options for them to all go on a show.
For the record I would be surprised if we don’t announce at least one player by then. But I’m not being hoodwinked into thinking this live version of Ringing the blues is going to rival newsnight or a particularly needled version of question time.
@TheDancingYak I fully expect @bluntphil to batter them with questions about chips, toilets, new roads, chairlifts and marquee signings not to mention what sort of entertainment they've booked for the refund party.

Agreed, Bloomfield is relatively unknown as a manager and that allied to a reduced budget would make a move to AP less attractive than last season.
If and when the yellow gif arrives I’m expecting to hit Google more than in previous transfer windows.

Imagine how apeshit some people will go if the first ‘breaking’ gif gets used for a development squad player?
Roll on signing Some journeyman accompanied by big talk of promotion.
Bring it.
We will just sign Jason McCarthy again if necessary.

We are now the only league 1 club, bar basket-case embargo Reading, not to make any additions.
Or Wigan!
Wigan have now signed four or five players, following a takeover from a local businessman.
Correction: to not announcements any additions.
Rumoured target Ethan Chislett is set to sign for Port Vale
