I have to say that I find @bargepole fairly amusing and I’m sure some of what he posts is slightly tongue in cheek. Surely life is too short to get offended by a bit of harmless banter
Us Baby Boomers grew up in the 1950s and 60s, when issues such as ADHD, anxiety, mental health, dyslexia etc., were not recognised as such. If you found life difficult to cope with, you just got a clip round the ear, and were told to pull yourself together.
But I do find it amusing the way some millennials are offended by anything which doesn't fit their view of the world.
Ah yes, because the older generation are renowned for their universal tolerance of all minorities (and yes, there are bigots from the younger generation too, but I'd wager that we're quantifiably more tolerant on average).
I thought the laughter emoticon and use of almost comedy esque beer over head scenario rather than "punch in the chops" might have shown it was in jest....
This is the second time you've mentioned Micklefield in your posts in a disparaging way, as no doubt you consider, that where you reside to be infinitely superior.
I don't suppose you shared many fondle fests ( scrums) with any Micklefield residents during your Rugger pastime days ? I'm not sure the Micky lads, would have taken to drinking each other piss, and singing tedious filthy songs, that you rugger chaps consider as hi jinks.
This is totally crass in the context of the preceding class war hostilities (very entertaining as they are) but I was so irritated by the bellowing of the interviewer at the time (and even more so on a second hearing) that I welcomed the opportunity to say “fuck off”, turn off the TV and do something more productive. Who was he, by the way @ReturnToSenda ?
I’m really quite rude with irritating characters on TV and radio with ‘arry Redknapp leading the field on LBC and some Scottish geezer (surely not David Tennant) advertising Trust a Trader with lots of exaggerated ooo sounds. I often tell them to go forth and multiply, as we used to say in days of yore.
I think when the history of Homo Sapiens is put together by whichever species has to sort out the mess we made of the third rock from the sun, us ‘baby boomers’ will be seen in much the way we now look back on Genghis Khan’s hordes.
That's unnecessarily harsh. Our generation is responsible for, among other things, the internet, rock and roll, the start of the civil rights movement, feminism, consumerism, and a massive improvement in general living standards.
The generations that followed have all benefiitted, but don't seem to realise that fact.

Sounds like a lot of wokist snowflake stuff to me.

In a kind of “I was listening when Beany spoke” kind of way!

The term 'snowflake' always says far more about the user than the target, I feel.
And I enjoy the irony of it: those who use it are far more offended by benign things than us millenials supposedly are.
I suppose it's a generational thing.

use of snowflake and Dave Spart to dismiss people who disagree was enough for me to block...my crisps are safe.
Got to admit, I did laugh out loud at the " clapped out Nissan in Micklefield " comment ! We're all different people, embrace it.

Have you had a bad experience with someone rugby related by any chance? Seems to haunt you :)
Can you have a good experience with egg chasing ?
The past really can sound a bit shit at times.

Who was the interviewer? Not sure, I'm afraid!
David Craig I think. And yes, he was extremely irritating. Far more so than Josh Windass.
Should stick to rebuilding his pop career and consider walking away from footy presenting.
Give me Bayo’s “can you hear me at the back...?” any day. The real template for L1 play-off victory interviews...

Absolutely magnificient that was.
Wycombe's in the championship.
I miss Bayo

Rock and roll long pre-dates the boomer generation

We all miss Bayo, its a different club without him.
Which begs the question - "why do you assume that he was driving from Sheffield?"
