I'm delighted that if we're to spaff a significant part of next year's playing budget up a wall, to almost quote a recent PM, we do so on Josh Scowen. In reality we're paying for two or three players worth each time he takes to the pitch, so he's an absolute bargain, whatever he costs.
Important to get these players signed up now so they have more investment in the play-off running. I doubt any of our players have the attitude "well I won't be here next year anyway" but it must creep in subconsciously.
Get Max signed now, and next season, whatever league, looks exciting,
Yeah, sounded like they had been asked to help JJ with his testimonial season, was quite confusing, maybe we can expect more announcements throughout the week...
Glad you said that @StrongestTeam as that's exactly how I understood the message. Good news if they are signed up for next season, just not certain that's what was said.
Of course they have signed on. Why on Earth would they send a message to ST holders saying' These two have signed up to help me put the bunting up for my testimonial dinner' ?
It’s an amazing take isn’t it? I can’t imagine anyone involved in the video would ever have guessed it would be misconstrued as two soon to be unemployed footballers taking a job as party planners.
I hope Sam Vokes doesn’t do one saying he’s staying while standing outside a Premier Inn.
A very valid point @TheAndyGrahamFanClub . Being on the edges of body repair & maintenance, 30 is literally nothing to a modern day footballer. Most are purely focused on longevity backed with sports sciences means that they expect to play on at least until their mid 30s at our level and many beyond!
Would seem very strange to sign a new contract, loads of noises implying captaincy, then suddenly QPR think they'll get involved?
Unless Scowen and Gareth have plotted this to get us some money, which is romantic but seems unlikely a 30+ holding mid from league 1 will go for much? (As much as we love him obviously).
If the worst does happen, at least we haven't utterly gutted our centre midfield options or anything.
B) I don't think Ainsworth will see out October and I think Josh knows that.
They might have a shiny new training ground but I suspect their transfer kitty will be next to nothing and the fan expectation is still huge. A paradox that rarely works out well.
I can’t see it. If Scowen didn’t have any history with QPR it would seem logical for Ainsworth to come in for our best player, who happens to also be the one most aligned to his style of football.
But I just don’t think Scowen would want to go back the QPR, and I don’t think the fans would want him back.
Not sure Josh would want to kick us in our Gasrooms after saying he was staying, leave a team where he is loved to go to a team whose fans abuse forced him off Twitter (I understand) and whose manager may not be very safe if they are struggling come Christmas.
Having said that a couple of mill will do nicely...

I'm not sure why any player would go to QPR now for anything other than money.
Obviously you must have inside information if you know Scowen is taking a significant part of next year’s playing budget.
A park ranger looking for work?
Hopefully not at the FCA

Looks like Grimmer and Wheels have signed for another season as well
Slightly strange way of announcing it I thought 😀
It would be interesting to have an update of exactly who we have signed up for next season now?
I think we have Wing, Forino and Hanlon contracted for next season but not sure of any others?
Yeah, sounded like they had been asked to help JJ with his testimonial season, was quite confusing, maybe we can expect more announcements throughout the week...
Gape
Young
Skura
Add these three to the four just signed up and your three listed. We have 10 at present and no goalkeeper.

I can confirm that is what was said. They'll be here.

'Hi everyone...I've signed on for another year....of Costco membership!!!
Maybe Rob has got wind of the constant gasroom slurs of "American" style hype, and we're purposely keeping it all low key this year.
JJ casually mentioning he'll "be around" next year as he's "triggered something" in his contract.
Scowen news smuggled out in the season ticket renewal email.
Grimmer and Wheeler casually mentioned at the end of a JJ clip.
What next? Vokes holding a note up saying "staying, innit".
I'll admit checking the email twice, where's the announcement? 🤣 Confirmed on various social media afterwards luckily.
Does anyone remember the Adam El Abd signing video. He mumbled his name and quite a few people had no idea who he was until the follow up messages.
Love it! Maybe someone can mumble a signing announcement and then pick up a microphone? Mind you, wasn't the mic drop before Rob's time?
Rob was here, we would never have got Fred before the takeover, but Trevor was the one dropping the mic .

It was going to happen.
QPR in for Scowen by all accounts
£10m plus Ilias Chair and they can have him.
I'd settle for £9m, their new training ground and Richard Dobson
Where's this come from?

Chairboys sign Chair MUST HAPPEN
A) I don't think HE would want to go there.
B) I don't think Ainsworth will see out October and I think Josh knows that.

QPR we’re ‘in for,’ Gape a couple of weeks ago too.
