He's not 30 though is he, in fact at the beginning of last week he was 28.
Derby need some steel in midfield and he is right up Paul Warnes street as a tough tackling defensive midfielder. Derby are still under an embargo of sorts next season and can't pay a fee for a player, Scowen would be perfect for them and I bet Paul Warne has thought about Josh. They are unlikely go up this season but you can bet they will be much stronger next year. Even the local Derby paper did a piece on Josh last week as a player they should sign.
He could well of had interest from elsewhere but has chosen to stay with us. Fantastic news indeed.
Excellent news. @aloysius - looks like your prediction that if the Couhigs stay , we will be playing our development team as the first team, maybe not quite true. Hopefully more good news as the weeks progress with more players putting pen to paper with new deals.
Indeed, a very good artilce on the website. It would be good know if the updated prices will be announced before the 5th May deadline to see whether to renew immediately or whether to leave it awhile.
I feel as though Scowen is the poster child for what we want to be as a club. Tenacious and skillful. In fact, he, Curtis and Gape almost sum us up over the last several years, as that 4/8 area of the pitch has really been a strong point for us.
I think some of the posters writing Josh off because of his age are stuck in an era from a decade or so back. A 30 year old player used to be looking at what pub they were going to buy to see them into retirement. A modern 30 year old has had a lot more medical science to aid their career and dare I say are more focussed on career longevity than previous generations. If any team should appreciate that age ain't nothing but a number its us. None of wanted a 40 year old to retire last year.
Tremendous news about Josh extending his stay with us. I have a nice feeling others will follow suit. I don't know if it's just me - I always remember Scowen as a mighty fine player during his previous stint with us, but it seems his performances now are even more standout than before.
Fantastic news that Josh has decided to play Championship football with Wycombe next season. I mean, he’s not good enough to get in Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers squad but he’s definitely good enough for us.
Strong feeling others will follow JJ and Josh’s lead. Fantastic to get a really strong spine to the team signed early. Should really hit the ground running next with a settled group and a proper pre season. Hats off to the club!!!

My stool flurries through the air into the ground
My wee is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one poo crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the toilet roll won't last
How many more days of toilet references?

Depends how many times I get caught short!
He turned 30 last Tuesday
We don't know what you got up to at your last place of work
When Leicester won the Premier League, they used to describe playing 3 in midfield - Drinkwater with Kante either side of him.
I feel the same about Josh.
Never trust in wiki!
He'd still slot in to Derby's team like a glove.
It blows my mind every time I'm reminded that Danny Drinkwater has a PL winner's medal
I would hope we wouldn't do business with Derby, but I suppose that's fanciful.
Wiki is usually right.
Its users sometimes confuse reported age with reported squad number....
I'm trying to think of a way to dovetail his name into another toilet reference, but it ends badly.

I would certainly say I work best alone rather than in a team...
It looks as if the deal is a one year with a possible extension.

(Really pleased about Scowen)
Expected news, but a reassuring feeling of warmth knowing Josh Scowen plays for your team.

Kevin Ellison and Danny Bulman prime examples.

Let's hope the quality of the Marlow bistros prove to be the contract clincher for those holding out...
Wonderful news
Yup, he's a class act, and more often than not our best player.

I think it was more a case of a single poster not expecting him to step up to a different team in a higher league. Although I don't necessarily agree.
For league 1 level I think he could easily stay for half a decade more minimum.
Not like he depends on pace. Just depends how many clattering he takes!
John Betjeman?
Scowen could definitely do a job at QPR, so I am glad we locked him up (and that he probably would not want to play there again anyway).
If we get Curtis and Gape back next season, we will be very difficult to play against no matter what.
Disney (you obviously don't have recent kids). John will be turning in his grave!
