One team's idea of witty banter is another team's idea of being got at.
We played the game with Sunderland with all that Our house taunting stuff didn't we. Until we got utterly lashed at their house then quickly disappeared tails between legs 😁
Doesn't seem to be any cover. Lots of clubs players campaigning against this now. The subtle change to it needing only a club appointed medic to terminate is sly. Players will end up needing to insure themselves.
I get the point about normal jobs but most companies would consider an injury picked up directly while doing your work a bit different and it's not often in an office job you could risk your entire career doing your job through no fault of your own.
Well done Eddie, fantastic achievement. They’ve also equalled a club record 13 consecutive wins and their next game? It’s 1st vs 2nd as they take on league leaders Basingstoke!
Must admit to spitting nails yesterday listening to 909 in the morning. Tony Robinson was a guest on the show and said, "it's a pity there is no football on, when being questioned by I think Patrick Kielty. Pah!
Basingstoke's 15 match winning run ended yesterday, when they lost 1-0 at home to Hanworth Villa. Their last defeat was in December, to Walton & Hersham, so it should be a titanic battle next week.
I'm rooting for The 'Stoke, only because they have a 17 year old striker called Brody Peart (edit - not related) ! He scored a first half hat-trick last week.
I'm fairly sure this would have been around the time my grandad briefly played for the Wanderers. He was scouted from Holmer Green apparently and played a few games at full back before the war (he was an RAF POW in Japan but was one of the lucky ones to make it back). I think he'd have been around 24 when he played. His name was Archie James and I still have his player's tie. I've never been able to trace anything official about his short-lived Wycombe career though!
@YorkExile, I can find one first team appearance for Archie James, at Wimbledon in the Isthmian League, on 4 March 1939. He played left back in a 9-3 defeat. He probably played for the Reserves, which I don't have details for. The regular left back at that time was Jack Meeks.
I think it was a greyhound stadium, @LX1 , was it not? So presumably that's what it was for.
I can remember grounds with rudimentary boards that related to the numbered fixtures for that day in your programme. You could then look at the boards to see what the half-time score was at Bolton, or wherever.
Ah didn't know that. Incredible the whole side of a building was devoted to it.
Great thinking about how people kept up with scores in years past. It is mildly annoying for me when someone is shouting out premier League scores on the terrace these days because they have some fantasy team.
People around me constantly checking for Premier scores or just talking about the Premier league whilst our match is going on seriously annoys the crap out of me !

Saw this. Puerile nonsense that I'm glad Wycombe don't seem to engage in. Sadly, clubs' social strategy these days seems to be simply 'bantz'.
Oh I don't know, I found it amusing. Especially given they will likely be in the same division next season.
That part of it was pretty funny, I just find the constant one-upping between football clubs on Twitter really tedious.
wonderful dig at Fleetwood

Alfie was apparently paying a fortune in insurance himself just to enable him to play on

Haaland: Hold my beer.....

I think there's only been one EFL game on TV this weekend: FGR v Wednesday today. Poor really.
Kazakhstan come from 2-0 down to beat Denmark 3-2 - first time in four years that they've won a qualifier vs anyone other than San Marino.
That's mad

Walton & Hersham striker just set a new record, 4 consecutive hatricks.
Never saw a game between us and Walton, but reliably informed 'The Hersham boys' were not the most friendly and accommodating bunch of supporters.
Wherever you live you get the knocks
Missus just rolled in pissed wearing a sky blue ribbon. I tiredly asked 'why?'
She said 'It's for the Wycombe, and we're going to Wemberley'
Amazing photo from 1938 as The Chairboys thrash the Chinoboys.
Wanderers in dark shirts defeat Marlow 6-0 at Slough's Dolphin Stadium in a B&B semi in front of 4,500.

Great story that.
Have you tried the club archives or @Steve_Peart, if he did indeed play for us before the war then records must exist in one of 3 or 4 places.
Thank you Steve, much appreciated!
Amazing @Steve_Peart
I’d love to see a picture of the 84 year old club tie @YorkExile
This is a thing of beauty. Thank you.
Were those Tote boards a common thing back then or was that unique at Slough? Any senior gasroomers remember these?

i thought it was an early version of ‘what minute will JJ go down ‘injured’…’

I sometimes talk about completely non-football matters during games - is that allowed?
If you're nowhere near the stadium, probably no issue 😋
