The problem with QPR is their fans seem to think they are a bigger club than what they really are. That may just play into our hands with them overlooking GA again.
Plus Martin O'Neill has been out of the game for the last 4 years. He last managed Nottingham Forest in 2019 and since then he hasn't shown any interest in getting back into management. I think his lifestyle is quite suited to the odd radio or TV appearance / commentary to top-up his already healthy bank balance
If Gareth goes my first port of call would have to be Matt Bloomfield. Yes he is at a club that is closer to his home and he is doing really well but he loves Wycombe.
Blooms could step right in and would not need any learning curve.
Offer Blooms the job Rob and give him the right backing. Bring him back home to Wycombe!!!!!
A lot of QPR fans making the same comments about GA that Colchester fans made about Blooms. They are not going to realize what a great manager he is till it hits them in the face, apparently.
This for me is what we need to find, should the worst happen. Dobbo has been instrumental in our DNA. Our recruitment is second to none. The way our members of staff get the best out of themselves, all stems from him and the tireless work he has promoted on the mind and the individual.
Whilst it maybe impossible to replicate, if he leaves, we need to find another Dobbo, who is taking this stuff seriously. We then need to find another GA - man manager, positive, constructively critical and nurturing.
What about having Martin O'Neill as a Director of Football role with Danny Senda & Kevin Betsey (you decide who is Manager / Assistant) taking over.
Betsey has experience of managing England Youth sides, Arsenal U-23's, Crawley Town & 1st team coach at Wigan. Danny has been with Brentford (academy), Barnet (U-18 then 1st team) and Leyton Orient (Assistant Manager)
Both know this club really well and have never had a bad word said against any of them either.
I would give it JJ until the end of the season with Mawson assisting. I think a new manager from outside at this stage would definitely derail our playoff hopes.
Should Ainsworth go I wonder if Bayo could see us through to the end of the season. He understands what makes us tick. Then it would be open to Ainsworth to return as soon as he’s been sacked…which won’t take long!!

Not a done deal yet
Imagine after all this if Gaz turns it down. Absolute scenes
Yeo, I said that earlier in the thread but I doubt it. I think Gareth will have an input to assist them appoint a successor.
Remember when Alex Ferguson hand-picked Moyesy as his successor 😬
How to depress me even further! (But feel you may be right…)

In talks doesn’t sound good 🤦🤦
Hand picked from his B list after the first 5 or 6 choices weren't available.
@glasshalffull ’s record of finding great managers in public toilets is 100%. Time to do your thing by the looks of things.
No hot water in our toilets though.
From everything that has been said it sounds like it is already a fait accompli and the "in talks" is window dressing.
O'Neill to QPR? Now that would be a hilarious twist
You don't normally have ITKs from all sides like this.

Talks can break down. Marsch was "in talks" with Southampton recently.
Yeah, but Gareth Ainsworth isn't a clown.
Good point @inflikted

It has to be someone who understands our culture either way. Lose that after a decade of building it and we won't punch above our weight for long.
JJ? Darius? Bean?
I'd leave Blooms be and not disrupt his managerial development. There will be other opportunities for him to come back to Wycombe.
Seriously?!
Maybe Richard Dobson would prefer to step up here rather than risk being unemployed in six months time.

I just cannot see QPR buying into this, let's hope they say no to them.
