The assumption that all 70 year olds (eg MO'N) want to jump at a three month job a long way from home presumably implies that I and others would too - after all Warnock did.
I'm hoping there are a few scenarios that keep GA/Dobbo here:
Firstly, they love the place and hopefully feel like the autonomy they get here would be so different at QPR that it is not worth the risk. For this alone I just cannot see them leaving at the minute, unless they know the club is up for sale.
Secondly, I'm hoping QPRs FFP gets in the way, so they have no choice but to go for an out of contract manager. Nathan Jones, Dean Smith, Chris Wilder would all be ahead of GA in this regard. You may even be able to add Jesse Marsch to that list.
Thirdly, and a bit of a longshot, if Chelsea sack Potter today then perhaps QPR might go after him instead. FFP might prove an issue here.
This is going down a weird rabbit hole so I'll leave it here.
Suffice it to say I think it is extremely unlikely that even if we offered it to him, which we probably wouldn't, 70 year old Martin O'Neill would break his retirement to take on a three month interim role at a league one club if GA were to leave which he might well not,
I don't know where Martin O'Neill now chooses to live!
Seems it’s going to all come down to Gareth and his team this time. It does seem crazy reading that article how many times he’s been in consideration and passed up for the job though, when he’s probably been the best candidate on paper at least in terms of body of work.
Hopefully the general instability of QPR and wanting to see things through with this group of players at WWFC will be enough to keep him at least until the end of the season (by which time, QPR would have sacked Nathan Jones).
We're a little way of discussing a successor to GA, but O'Neill isn't retired, he stated several times that he's keen to get back into management. He just hasn't had any offers for a while, or none tempting to him anyway!
Also btw, despite what that Guardian article says, I've heard he was offered the QPR job back in December and turned it down leaving them to go with second choice Critchley.
If Ainsworth does go, Liam Manning has got to be fairly high up on the shortlist hasn’t he? Always came across well at MK and is one of the only other managers I’ve seen to not slag off the opponent and their style post-match, which is what I’d despise seeing from our next manager after how classy Gareth has been.
I’m not convinced that managers are so locked to a certain style of play. The best ones will deploy a playing style that will maximise the talent available in the squad.

They don't come out of Close Quarters well, but I think we'll have to accept we won't get someone perfectly 'Wycombe' unless we clone Gaz and Dobbo.
Danny Senda is a great shout. I really think we need someone that knows the club and what we are about.
Bayo and/or Darius Charles for a promotion push?!
Huddersfield have just appointed a 74 year old Neil Warnock!
Warnock would have been great for Wycombe
The Ringing the Blues podcast would usually have dropped by now (normally in time for the monday morning commute)
Another clue that there's something going on?
I'd be honoured to follow in your footsteps (says Rafa. In Spanish)
Plainly if one 70 year old takes a job, all 70 year olds will want to do the same.....
Bit of a bugger for those of us who fancy a retirement
No reason to believe surely that in the real world Martin O'Neill would want to manage Wycombe on an interim basis for three months or so.
So Neil Warnock is stopping you from retiring?

Who's made that assumption?
Also, it's football management; you can't fairly compare that with a 'real world' job.
DevC installed at 6/1 on Next QPR Manager.

Where does O Neill live these days? Still has his Beaconsfield place presumably?
He used to live in Egypt near Farnham Common but moved from there about 4 year ago. I think he stayed fairly local but couldn't be 100% sure.

I was going to say, you really need to retake your Geography GCSE, but apparently this place really exists. Now that I did not know.

Guardian reporting that an offer is looking v. likely.
Had never occurred to me that "Gypsy" and "Egyptian" had the same etymology although obvious when it is pointed out. The gasroom has its uses.....

Uri is hurriedly recording an add on to teach us to say "Oh fuck" in Spanish.
btw, I believe St Martin lives in Beaconsfield now

Martin O’ Neill with Senda number 2

Are you on record as being ITK though? An acronym I didn’t know until today and will insist upon using at every available opportunity.
That would be quite the transition in playing style!
I'm defo not an ITK @Jonny - Liam Manning is a good suggestion, always seemed like a decent fella and I'm surprised he's not already back in a job.
