You lot have made me curious now, so am going to have to watch this cheese rolling thing from Gloucestershire now, but you still haven't come up with the name!!! 🤷♂️
Aberdeen get a defender sent off in the 7th minute and lose 3-1 at home to St. Mirren. Hey Aberdeen fans - maybe you just have a terrible team? Good luck with the new scapegoat search.
When you look at the Anthony Stewart saga you realise just how fragile a career in football really is.
The lad went there as captain and to what was sold to him as a step up to a higher standard and a great adventure, yet 7/8 months later he is out and having to find alternative employment back down south.
I feel really sorry for Anthony Stewart, I hope he's got good friends and family around to help him through what's obviously been a difficult period in his career.
Not that I'll be there, obviously, but it would be absolutely awful if he were to receive anything remotely resembling abuse at Adams Park if he plays there for the franchise.
I'm not sure Greenwood would pass Gareth's "character test" so no he wouldn't be invited here. Could be an ideal candidate for a Joey Barton team though!
Hitler was never actually convicted of war crimes, only indicted, if I am right. Legal process does not necessarily equal truth. Evidence might be overwhelming to any given individual, but thrown out because of legal technicalities. It does not stop something from having happened.
There is a wide range of ambiguity on many alleged actions that never led to a conviction, so on a personal level it is important to tread carefully in certain scenarios. You would be hard pressed to find someone who thinks the Greenwood incident did not take place because a witness withdrew, though.
Investigating serious crime isn't a waste of money but it's very difficult where inevitably at least one party might might not be telling the whole truth and if witnesses change their story along the way. Heavy mention of training and updating procedures suggests the case may not have been handled well from the outset and that could make proving anything beyond doubt very difficult.
Not guilty as charged in one particular case doesn't necessarily mean a person isn't abhorrent btw if they were before being charged, much like being charged with something doesn't automatically mean they are. I'm sure any future employer (and people will line up) would want to know more and be sure further allegations or issues aren't likely.
Very difficult when these things are out in public but also many reasons not to allow rich or well known people to hide under cover of anonymity.
I’m sure he has plenty of good friends. Also, in his Twitter profile, he lists family as one of the three most important things in his life. May have been number one, in fact. I’m not sure.
You say you obviously won’t be there for the match against MK Dongs. Is that because you no longer live in the Wycombe area?
@Malone : As Anthony and Charles Dunne are great mates (or at least they were when I used to bump into them in ASDA all those years ago), the elbowing incident may not have been entirely random.
You’re much more up-to-date with social media speak than I am @eric_plant so I’m afraid I haven’t a clue what that comment means. But I understand there’s a bit of history (on the Gasroom at least) between you and @DevC so I can only assume that your comment was less than convivial.
But this is now a very difficult situation for his club.
Technically he's not guilty, so should be able to resume his career.
Players who have been guilty of killing people and going to jail have come back to football, but technically he hasn't even got the guilty part of that on his record.
I suspect the club will gently usher him out and he'll pick up abroad though.

We are the Champions was the Netflix show. Episode 1 was the Cheese rolling one.
Just checked, it's still available on Netflix.
You can’t trust Oxford to do one single thing can you?

I was reading their forum last night and it’s a cesspit of hatred, mainly aimed at Stewart now the manager has gone.
Though I despise MK he’s done the right thing in leaving. I can’t imagine it would be safe for him in Aberdeen or his family.
Interestingly he got sent off for elbowing Charles Dunne.

I'm almost certain he will, depressingly. We've got some right shits among our fan base.
Made me chuckle for some reason.
Not a particularly chuckleworthy scenario, but just the sheer randomness of that.
Ta
Mason Greenwood has had all charges against him dropped following withdrawal of a key witness (guessing his ex (?) partner).
On the principle that anyone is innocent until proven guilty, he is now an innocent man.
moral dilemma - should he be welcome to play for say WWFC?
If yes - does that condone his alleged behaviour
if not - does that mean that the innocent until proven guilty principle no longer applies
Less than 1% of rape reports in England and Wales lead to a conviction, btw.
What a waste of public money.

Fair play to whoever developed the Devbot, it's unerringly accurate
Would you be happy for him to date your daughter Dev?

Honestly Eric, I wouldn't be happy for him to play football for the club.
But I am struggling to justify that emotion logically

Dev's a bit obsessed with rapists isn't he.

Twat
I hope you didn't lead with your elbow when you bumped into them...

Unsurprising you got so many downvotes.

Greenwood should be nowhere near professional football. We've all heard the recordings.
Greenwood is a surprising situation, although I must admit the longer it carried on, the more I wondered if it was heading this way.
The Mendy one is the one that made me think "Bloody hell".
He had an absolute sh!tload of unrelated accusers, yet they couldn't make any of the accusations stick!
Have we ?
And given the tiny proportion of incidents (as I understand it) that actually do get reported, that is a thoroughly shocking statistic.
