I would say I hope Man City get relegated to L2 a la Rangers, but that would just hoover up a promotion spot away from lower league clubs each year. Maybe make them play in the Abu Dhabi league for five seasons instead?
Actually, I'm not quite sure they have been - PL statement says 'referred to a Commission'. Either way, this already feels much bigger than previous cases.
Yes and the repercussions will be massive for the whole Premier League as I fear there are a few other clubs who could also be subject to the same outcome.
If they are guilty, it undermines 14 odd years of competitive integrity, including them winning 6 league titles and blocking others from CL participation.
Not sure, this isn't just overspending or calculating ffp badly, it looks like a concerted effort over a number of years to hide the true nature of incomings and outgoings. It looked like Uefa had caved and or approved some of this but the Prem statement and a couple of other articles suggest that some of the Uefa stuff was only cleared on a technicality due to late investigation and details a breach of dozens of rules in a way that can't have been accidental.
I know everyone should get the same punishment for the same crime in theory but it's hard to see how any financial penalty would harm Abu Dhabi....if guilty of course.
I remember walking to the ground…it was about a mile walk, and a lot of the people I spoke to said I shouldn’t have my shirt on show until I get to the ground.
Bizarre given the difference between the two sides. I ended up walking back among a sea of City fans and no trouble at all. Was a decent night.
Divisional rivalries aside, it’s devastating for him as for the last season and a half, he has demonstrated that he is one of the best keepers in the league and he would probably have been eyeing up a move further up the pyramid (regardless of which league Plymouth are in next season). I hope he comes back stronger, albeit not when he plays Wycombe.

Could see them getting a 10k fine or something 😜

Very bad news indeed.

Maybe the PL will let them choose the year to take the penalty, like the EFL did with Derby.

I think Derby should take their place in the Premier League. It's only right.
I hope Rob is on the case. We were robbed at the Etihad a few years back, if they had a sporting advantage.
That 6-1 from last season is looking very shady too. Clearly would have gone the other way without the cheating!
Haha that’s what I was referring to but….seriously, was it only last season?? Genuinely thought it was a few seasons ago.
Yes indeed! It was Hanlan with our goal before the cheating cooked book players bribed the refs to barely squeak by us.
It gets wilder, with potential links to crypto-ponzi schemes:

The thing is that clubs struggle to manage their books, fall foul of FFP end up with a finanical penalty.
If the club are paying too much or struggling to pay wages, the penalty they get is a fine.....
I'm going to hazard a guess than Man City will find some coins behind the sofa in that eventuality.
Interesting how people have entirely different perspectives on the same information.
I read this as very good news indeed (and very funny to boot).
It needs to be a HUGH fine if its going to have any effect. If its something like £50 million, that'll have no effect at all
Send them to the hell that is the National League. Stupidly tough to get out of that league.
Best of all, force Man City to play in a breakaway Super Plastic League with MK Dons, Salford and PSG for the rest of time.
What's Hugh Grant got to do with this?
(other Hughs are available)
indeed, he only had to pay a grand, don't think Man City would be too upset by that.

Don't bring Sean Devine and Steve Brown into this
Cooper confirmed as out for the remainder of the season for Argyle. He will be a huge loss for them.
I definitely expect them to fall away enough to sink into the playoffs now.
And the back up keeper at Plymouth has not played a League game for nearly two years.
Last game was for Cambridge Utd in League 2 in May 2021.

Luton with a mountain to climb in the second half or their FA Cup replay, losing 3-0 away at Grimsby
Luton getting embarrassed by Grimsby (so far) in the cup replay. 3-0 down at halftime.
