Completely agree. This is poorly worded. But, I can only hope that we had an illness bug running through our squad. So many of our top players didn’t even make the bench. Seeing De Barr (who was excellent in the end) and Wakely on the bench is worrying when you’ve got Scowen, Wing, Gape, McCleary and Mawson (and others) all missing. I really hope we have a few players back for the next set of games. Plymouth were absolutely there for the taking tonight. We gave them far too much respect - with our line up and our approach play in the first half.
Weird really as it not only reduced chances of winning but meant lots of players needed to play almost full matches despite having only played minutes. Needs to be rotation at times but earlier within games and game to game, not just on one off matches. Let's hope that isn't the last we see of KaiKai for weeks and weeks now.
I think there is more to the selection tonight. It must be an illness. To make that many changes from a side that has been consistent in picking up points lately only points towards illness or a all our players leaving! The latter more than unlikely.
Regardless of either alleged reason, I thought it could have been a perfectly reasonable gameplan against a side that "know what they are going to get with Wycombe". If the subs had been made 10 minutes earlier or we put one of our chances away, we would be lauding it as a tactical masterstroke.
For me it's positive that our "cup team" were worthy of a point against a team that look set to finish top of the league (somehow).
Credit to the Plymouth medical team for their quick response too. We still have no idea what caused his collapse but the response from the medics undoubtedly helped him.
but if we are going to talk football. Our reserves and fringe players only just lost to the top of the league side. Wasteful finishing cost us. Shitty defending cost us. If I hear that the whole squad has been impacted by illness I would not be surprised.
Without wanting to dwell on the utter dullard I commented on earlier, the supportive comments from supporters of Plymouth and many other clubs wishing Tjay well are pretty heartwarming.
From what I've heard it's not a heart problem. Saw a quote from the Plymouth manager suggesting it may be a chest injury after he got clattered during the game. Hopefully not a punctured lung or anything like that cos that could cause a collapse.
Football first aid courses cover chest impact injuries as well as concussion injuries too, as in fact this is a serious issue and actually far more likely to be seen in some areas of football such as children’s football - usually a ball being blasted into a kids chest.
When Tjay had the collision in the box there did appear to be heavy contact in the upper half of his body but I haven’t seen a replay.
Whatever happened, let’s just hope for a speedy recovery.
Who's been calling for Horgan to get more minutes? He showed his typical ineffectiveness for the umpteenth time today. Such a frustrating line-up when we know our starting players can cause them so many problems
I thought we played pretty well. Personally I’m ok with the rotation. It looked to me like the decision to name that 11 was taken before Xmas and a gameplan prepared accordingly.
The squad is there not only to cover injury, but also to allow rotation and prevent injury occurring in the first place.
The starting 11 Sunday should have an edge over Peterborough with the extra sharpness.
KaiKai and DeBarr certainly showed enough to suggest they merit more than just the odd cameo performance in my view.
Yeah but saw a comment from someone who was there that claimed he was coughing up blood which is always going to be pretty serious. Can't verify that of course though.
completely agree. Horgan and Kai Kai have to be finished now. Off the ball they offer so little in defensive phases. Horgan is pretty good in a very high press and that’s about it.
Very please to hear that De Barr is on the mend, by far the most important thing from tonight.
I suspect that the changes made were due to illness in the camp. Ainsworth did say on Saturday that some players had been struggling. The changes were one thing, but to leave so many players at home would indicate that this was a bit more than just squad rotation. Let's just hope we have a few return on Sunday.
As for the match, not too bad a performance under the circumstances, we could easily have nicked a point in those last 20mins once the subs were made. Just a shame we were missing so many, as Plymouth like at Adams Park weren't that impressive. They have somehow manages to take 6 points from us though! Great to see Thompson get 90mins and I thought he played very well. Horgan had a decent game and Kaikai some nice touches. Getting the fringe players out there may benefit us in coming weeks ahead, as some will be needed I'm sure.
Very classy. Concerning that the ref knew about it and didn't enforce any action. Hard to understand if he was coughing up blood after the incident or after his collapse. If the former, the ref should have enforced a substitution.
Well said. I was working tonight so unable to watch the game but can I just point out that Plymouth are 18 points above us in the table and have won 11 of their 12 home games.
Heard the Premier League are thinking of trialling temporary substitutions in 2023 which will be interesting. Blood substitutions are already a thing in rugby. I'd imagine it would follow a similar principle.
Glad to hear TJ is recovering. Hopefully there's no underlying issue, very concerning for him though.
As for the less important issue of the evening, i can't imagine we'd rest that many players for a league game, so we have to assume flu is making it's way through the squad. We'll find out on Saturday.

Thank goodness
Thank goodness for that
Positive news, and let's hope the tests don't uncover any serious underlying conditions behind the collapse.

And with a spell without a game the other side of Peterborough.
It is a very awkward couple of aways over 3 days though.
a handful of idiots at the ground but the vast majority shocked and respectful.
thank goodness he seems to be ok
I've somehow managed to link to the wrong thing there
Obviously I'm saying thank goodness in relation to the positive update

Tjay being ok is 3 points for me.

If they have all been ill, then just tell us !? It doesn't matter does it ? If they are ill they are ill, none of this resting rubbish

Pretty speculative but also hope it's nothing that serious of course.
We will hear about the selection I'm sure. Be patient everyone.
I did wonder about this.

De Barr certainly deserves more minutes - as long as he's not out for months again. He's had a rough time with injuries.

Classy response from the Argyle manager. Confirms the coughing up blood which is concerning but hopefully not something that will end his season.
Very classy. Concerning that the ref knew about it and didn't enforce any action. Hard to understand if he was coughing up blood after the incident or after his collapse. If the former, the ref should have enforced a substitution.
If the former, then Wycombe need to report him to the EFL for not acting.
Could add weight to the temporary concussion sub / emergency sub calls that appear to be gathering momentum in football
