Anyone who gives credibility or respect to the views of Mr.Barton should check out his record of words and actions over the years. I think his somewhat colourful history suggests that this is a man who cannot always be taken too seriously.
It's hard to defend Barton..but I'll have a go. There's lots of things going on in everybody's lives that we don't know about. Barton is a 'public figure' and an easy target. There seems to be lots of issues but he deserves respect for holding it together and continuing to be a professional football manager.
Which makes me for one even more grateful for having Gareth Ainsworth as WWFC manager, We are blessed,
The point I'm making is that the linesman isn't level with play, so he has no idea. It's clearer on the video than the screen grab, but he's almost on the 18yd line while Grimmer & no10 are probably 4 yds nearer the goal (look at the lines on the grass, each wide stripe is 6yds wide).
I thought the lino did really well in calling our second goal. I know it looks clear as day on the replay but I was stood right behind him and had no idea it had gone in.
The keeper also dived right in front of the goal line at the same time which made it doubly difficult to see.
I guess the linesman’s judgement is informed by the fact he can see Scowen is well behind the line and the ball clearly comes off him. I appreciate that isn’t conclusive. But it must have helped that he was well into the net.
Rarely do I say this but I actually thought the officiating yesterday was excellent. Finally we saw time wasting (by both sides) addressed with bookings. And on several occasions the ref rightly played on when the defending player attempted to win a cheap free kick by falling on the ball under pressure.
The referee was absolutely superb yesterday, he gave a masterclass in how to referee. The first half was feisty, and I couldn't see how 22 players would be remain on the pitch. But I would imagine both managers informed their players at halftime, that this ref is spotting everything, and not afraid to make decisions.
Which is why Stryjek had to develop not one, but two mystery injuries in the second half, as there is no way of validating those, and no risk of being penalised other than time added on.
No matter how good the ref, we’ll find a loophole…
Completely agree, he was very impressive. Another ref might have reached for the red card that Rovers players were demanding when Grimmer made that tackle but he stayed calm and dealt with it correctly. I was talking to former PL ref Jarnail Singh before the game and asked if yesterday’s ref was one of his protégés and he replied: ‘He’s my son!’. I made a point of telling the assessor (local chap Mike Tingey) that Sunny is the best ref we’ve had at Wycombe this season.
Yep, I'll add my name to those praising the referee, I thought he was very good and was always in control of a match that threated at times to be quite tetchy. Really good to see him clamping down early on the time wasting of both sides. When it's nipped in the bud early like that, it gives a strong message to both sets of players.
Really wasn't sure what the complaints of the Rovers fans were about? The booking for holding back McCleary after he'd got got goal side of his man, was as clear as it gets and their penalty appeal in the 1st half was a blatant dive from the forward.

Highlights confirm their goal was indeed very offside - not that the lino was in any position to say with any certainty.
Joey Barton is an absolute cockwomble
And the lineman is way behind the play ...

eric knows
I wouldn’t have given him the respect of calling him Mr. Barton. You earn respect and he certainly doesn’t.
Looks level with Grimmer to me. Certainly not clear cut.
Yep, he's in front of Taff, but so is Grimmer
Perhaps we should give Barton a pass - he has been in court so many times that he is used to hearing people stretch facts to make their case.
I’m sure none of our players would sign for a club managed by Barton.

I think Jack may have played the goal scorer onside. The still frame looks offside but watching the highlights tonight I think he is onside.
Good ref today, liked his card for time wasting from early on.
Can I also say that this Bristol Rovers team play really good, attacking football. The sort that you would enjoy watching every week.

Bla bla bla bla bla Parklife!
I was directly in line with the pass for their goal and it wasn't offside
Also, that screen grab above proves nothing either way. It's when the ball is kicked that matters

Expect this chap to be reffing at the top level.
For every contentious decision, at least 50% of the Gasroom were 'right in line with' or 'directly behind' the incident.
Or new somebody that was!
Technically, if you have two points (one being the incident and the other viewer) there’s always a straight line between them.
Look at the position of the lino and his direction of travel, he is running to keep up and not facing the action.

Being directly behind wouldn't have helped much but I can assure I was bang in line with the Rovers player who made the assist.
It was too good a view of some pretty average defending, to be honest
Was it Wing or Tafazolli who let the ball go through to the scorer?
Looked like they just needed to stretch a leg to block it - not sure if they simply hadn’t seen the striker behind them.

Mike Tingey !! I remember him reffing our games in the Sunday morning league... knew he'd go far as he absolutely loved himself !
