Surely that is not that unrealistic, bearing in mind we were there 2 years ago, and were one game away from getting back there just last season?
Even filling the ground isn't "that" unrealistic if we were to go up. It's very likely that instead of averaging say 5000 with 3 times a season 7500 we'd probably average 7500 and get full houses xx amount of times too.
What is unrealistic is the belief that the new road will be what boosts the crowds. Or some lovely burgers, or new toilets etc.
Interesting stuff. 3G pitch sounds a bit dodge, but maybe that is the necessary evil to make it cost effective?
Is intriguing to see how it pans out. There's loads of sports facilities there already, so it depends exactly how many of those will be run roughshod over.
Plus how they'll sort parking, as there's plenty for the minor stuff they have staggered over different days, but not necessarily for 1,000s of football fans.
Closer to the current ground than I realised though.
There was a disturbing incident today as Warrington Town keeper had his water bottle tampered with. An opposition fan urinated in said bottle, the keeper didn’t realise and consumed some, he then identified the fan and proceeded to squirt the urine in his face and was ultimately sent off for doing so.
Guiseley have been quiet - no statement saying they’re investigating, nothing. Even worse is that they scored the only goal in the 90th minute to win the game.
Football has taken a rather sour turn since Covid, in general. This will surely be investigated by the police and an assault charge brought forward if proven guilty.
The referees reaction is absolutely pathetic and hopefully the League will cancel the sending off. The culprit also needs to be named and shamed in the National Press. I wonder what his Employer and parents makes of the incident!
I do like the insight of these kind of pieces but can't help thinking that "£14m of his own money" from a local fan and "average home crowd of 13,000" tell you all you need to know about how they are doing well in league one. Neither of which are easy to replicate.
Completely making up the idea that their players deferred wages for PR and creative accounting, on top of the already known making up player valuations in swap deals to cheat ffp and tax, I think I preferred them when they were just paying off referees.
Our old friend, Dominic Bernard, was at it again for Forest Green at the weekend. Sent off in the 72nd minute after getting a second yellow card in the FA Cup game against Alvechurch.
Arguably, he should have been sent off for that nasty challenge on Scowen that led to the fracas that the referee and his assistant took five minutes to sort out.
Ashley seems to be putting the squeeze on them for more £ or to take over entirely, Unfortunately that's who he is. Seems the club has a perfectly good deal but he doesn't want to honour it.
The football club had a good deal with a group of companies that went bust following the collapse of Wasps so ...
In the real world they now have to strike a deal with the new landlords - aka Mike Ashley.
The football club were presented with a deal, which they declined to sign, so the new landlord has evicted them. You might not like the process but that's the way it works.
Is it? If I buy a house with a sitting tennant or takeover a company with staff I don't need to throw everyone and everything out straight away. They had a 10 year lease agreed fairly recently with the previous owners and are being immediately asked to sign a new deal on worse terms that only runs for one year.
I hope they can build a new stadium, the clubs new owners tried to buy the Ricoh but it was sold to Ashley, unfortunately it will take a while .
I know some people defend Ashley for running Newcastle at break even and occasionally dipping his hand in for a transfer but they were awful commercially, partly because he took a large chunk of the advertising and kit deals for his own companies. On the high street he's the same, buys distressed assets, fires lots of people, hardballs landlords, just a wealthy man with no care for anyone else.

Exactly. He's small but probably our best defender too!
Yes - we have around 30 kids signed on and only 14 spaces each week!
Is your chairman making a huge, possibly unrealistic push for the next tier?

It's all about being a tier up really.
I can't remember who posted about the Coupe de France the other week, but... https://twitter.com/SweeperPod/status/1594030297686970369?t=Fwz-tA-sDHsHiTqifbHe-g&s=19
I was basing the "possibly unrealistic" on our current quality, unfortunately.

Fucking hell, how does a person get to the point in their life where they even come up with the idea of doing that let alone actually doing it?

Sounds like something that takes it from a banning order towards a prison sentence.

Sounds like one of those articles where a couple tell you how they retired at 40.
And it turns out they had super wealthy parents, plus earned 100k a year in the City.
The entire board just resigned at Juventus, amid an investigation into false accounting... [pretends to be shocked]

Remember when Mike Ashley was the hero in waiting for Derby County? Well, he’s back in the news again.

What a mess Coventry have found themselves in over the last few decades.
Gosh, you have to feel for their fans, that really is a shit show.
It's like that bloke is on a mission to be hated by as many people as possible.
At least the championship break allows them a small amount of time to find a solution.
I thought the Championship came back this weekend, but turns out that was just Sunderland and Millwall
It is back at the weekend but Coventry are away. Next home game is Dec17th. My guess is that will be played at the (rebranded) Ricoh.

Sadly another situation where the lawyers get rich & everyone else involved in the case loses one way or another

Glad it wasn't us though.

Surely depends on exactly what the lease says and (possibly) whether the tenant has and intends to comply with its terms.
i dare say it will all get sorted out.
