Avoiding "that" subject for a while, came across this though that is interesting, mostly for anyone unfortunate enough to visit the new plough lane last year
I briefly saw something about that the other day and they looked, er, heavy-handed. We were asked to "line up against the wall" as we were going in last season.
They seemed to think they were a guerilla army outfit, had no clue about any actual stewarding, ie where a seat might be located, blocked the view for many people and just handled everything cack handedly until things kicked off (not condoning that bit btw, the right people got booted out I believe but all entirely avoidable)
Basically in order to persuade people that the world is congregating in Qatar for the wonderful festival of football they seem to be redeploying Asian construction workers to pretend to be fans of all nations.
Last week's story was that around 50 fans of each nation have been offered all expenses trips out their as ambassadors to be interviewed (on limited areas of questioning of course)
Might have been there, around this time the away end at reading was mostly stewarded by bucks college students and anyone who randomly walked past the recruitment agency next to the falcon. Think @shev said he used to around the same time too. What a pit Elm park was
For those of you who have access to Netflix I highly recommend watching FIFA Uncovered.
Yes it will confirm all your suspicions especially about what an odious, corrupt, unprincipled man Sepp Blatter is; along with exposing a rogues gallery of coruption & ineptitude.
An uncle took me to a game there, and I was surprised to see that fans moving from one part of the stand to another actually had to walk in front of the manager and his dugout, during the game to get there!
Binge watched it the other night. How that turd Blatter is still alive amazes me. Think that FIFA is more corrupt than Westminster, now that's an achievement!
So what do you make of Ronaldo destroying his (current) career at Man Utd? I can't really get my head around it and the things that he has said to Piers Morgan (of all people??!?!)
So far this season, Ronaldo has requested/demanded a transfer, refused to train, refused to come on as a sub, left the bench and ground before the end of a match and then does an interview that completely isolates himself from his current club and most of the other clubs in Europe!
I think it's all to do with money @Otter87. He's angling to get sacked with his contract paid off (or part thereof). He then signs for another club with a huge signing on fee and more obscene wages. Its a win win situation for him, plus better weather if he ends up in Spain, Portugal or Italy.
Ronaldo I suspect suffers from the same narcissistic personality disorder as the likes of Trump and Johnson. Its all about him. He cares not that he is creating tension in the Portuguese world cup squad - his interests and ego are all that matters. Honestly whatever level my club played at, however much income he might bring from a commercial level and however much he dropped his wages, wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.
He surely must realise he overplayed his hand in the summer, hence no club being prepared to come in at the level of wage/fee and status he would demand.
Yet seems to be having a second crack at it all with this break coming.
Ten Hag has displayed absolutely superb management throughout this period, having shifted Maguire to the bench without a whisper, and made Ronaldo a supporting cast player.
Thats an excellent point @Malone and to give Harry Maguire this credit, he hasn't made a fuss at all. He has just done what the team has needed and played & performed when he's had the chance.
@mooneyman I don't think he's played this well at all. Yes, he might get a pay day with a new contract but on the other side of it is that if this interview is as bad as its been reported, surely Man Utd would have just cause to sack him without having to pay him off? Its just like if you went to the media / (local) press and said that you hated your job, wanted to leave, don't respect anyone in the company, your manager would be giving you your P45 the next morning without a word being said.
If you look at what happened with Aubameyang at Arsenal, they "mutually agreed" to cancel his contract so that he could move to Barcelona and no money was exchanged and he did far less damage when compared to Ronaldo!
I can't see a club with funds available going for him. He won't play for anyone except Real in Spain, Italy love drama but didn't love Ronaldo, PSG won't go for him as he won't start matches and too much competition and he is too noisy to play for a team in Germany. Only chances he has is MLS (which he'll hate) or Sporting who he started his career with, on a tiny salary (compared to what he has now!)
I did mainly Stevenage (which was fun, as I always got to stand in line with halfway and had a superb view) and Chelsea (not so fun, with plenty of postings without a view), but I did a single Reading game at Elm Park and it was certainly not the nicest digs by any stretch!
I quite liked Elm Park. I had the misfortune to live in Reading for a few years and work for a company that sponsored them and went along a few times if we weren’t playing (free tickets mostly) or I couldn’t get away,
it had a proper lower football league vibe about it (this was when we were still at Loakes Park).

Great read thanks!

Absolutely brilliant. That’s the way to announce a squad.

Wycombe legend Robert Jones just got a big penalty call spot-on in Newcastle v Chelsea.
Interesting thread though you might need the translate button if your Danish isn't good

Speaking of Denmark i saw this week they won't be able to wear their 'have my cake and eat it,' shirt.

Newcastle sub Jamaal Lascelles booked while warming up for stopping Chelsea take a throw. Top shithousery.
It's now all kicking off at full-time as Primal Scream's 'Movin' on Up' plays 😂
Rahter amused by this (https://twitter.com/Neil_Harman57/status/1591511825069535232?t=wY1QianRbGtGCwj3jVlBgg&s=03) so i had to respond appropriately
He can't be serious, surely? I would bet there are several games in the four divsions each week with at least 7.
Brilliant
This was the only goal of Stevenage v Hartlepool today... https://twitter.com/edward_w97/status/1591562358463553537?t=sNFRJqwcrZPKl0JurlbTlw&s=19
Probably more one of those "worst ref ever", "best goal ever" type nonsensical comments made to stress how good/poor/long something was.

Very bizarre behaviour indeed.

Qatar, Kuwait etc would pay Ronaldo silly money.
Al-Hilal in Saudi claimed they tried to sign hum but couldn't because of a transfer embargo
A massive fish in a very small pond.....
