Fair enough, I know he's not everyone's cup of tea. But yeah, I understand why they put Derby first but didn't really follow the logic of the running order after that.
Re: the ITV show I think it’s too early to judge. Obviously no Colin Murray is a major negative but as time goes on the presenters may get better.
on the positive side I thought they spent more time on the clips and gave reasonably coverage to every club.
also on the positive side it was nice not to have the voice over commentary puns that the guy on Quest seemed to indulge in too much for it to be funny (in my opinion)
@LDF i think you have a confusion between deductive and inductive reasoning. There are 24 hours in a day because we have (or the Babylonians or was it the Phoenecians have) decided to decide to divide the day into 24 hours. There weren’t 24 hours in the day yesterday because you observed the passage of 24 hours. It is a fact that there will be 24 hours in the day tomorrow and that would remain true even if the world did come to an end and there was no one there to observe them.
I'll be happy to continue to treat all posts on here as opinion, as even the ones purporting to be fact are actually just the posters opinion on what they believe to be fact.
Peak Gasroom is a summer wailing about the players we have not signed as if the management have no idea how to do it or the implications of their failure and once the season starts if we are doing well a January convinced anyone we do have who has passed a ball forward successfully up to Christmas is on the radar of a 'big club' and will be gone...usually for a pittance. I takes it a game at a time, me.
I think (my opinion) that the level of intelligent and articulate discussion on the Gasroom is outstanding compared to the dross on the majority of club chat rooms (example from Sheffield Wednesday fan yesterday: ‘You can have Stockdale back, he’s w..k.’). I often disagree with people (fact) but I do enjoy reading their views (with a couple of exceptions). This thread has set a high bar for the new season.
Again, sorry, but see Descartes. McCarthy could actually be a figment of your imagination, along with all of us, the rest of the team, and the entire universe as you know it. The only thing one can be sure of as fact is one's self.
Unless of course you subscribe to simulation theory, in which case none of us are fact.
I suspect that the direction this thread has gone is a result of a convincing 3-0 win to start the season and all of us (well most) having had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon yesterday.
Nothing to complain about regarding the footie so let's get into semantics and deconstruct one another's posts.
Sorry, @drcongo but the flaw in your reasoning here is that you’re taking a particular measure of the length of a second as being objective when it’s actually just a convention.

Sorry dad. Must have missed that post. Could you DM me with the specifics - ie thread and poster username. Date also, if possible.
I can't believe I bothered to watch. We were treated as also-rans. Won't miss Murray though.
No chance, it's buried deep in the confines of time now. Too hard to dig that out.
The Internet owns it now.

There was quite a lot of cheese wordplay on the Plymouth Barnsley game (albeit not puns)
I’m ignoring Einstein deliberately so please nobody bring up relativity
It's poor form to preface every comment with 'IMO' as it's taken for granted that it's the writer's opinion unless actually stated that it's fact.
Agree with your second and third sentences.
Well that tickled me.

Ha ha, that's a fact!

But it's only my (and possibly your) opinion that it's a fact.
😁
Nah, when we say fact it bloody well is.

There is only one fact:
Nick Freeman
Technically, tomorrow is likely to have 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.9992364 seconds, but we actually don't know yet.
This is also not a fact, millions of years ago days were up to half an hour short of 24 hours. Days now are still less than 24 full hours.

Someone just had to do it. 🙄
Interestingly, Saturday 14th May 2022 was 0.68ms longer than 24 hours.
There were only 23 hours on 27th March!

Good stuff. Keep it up.

Other forums barely get off a cogent opinion. We debate the nature of opinions.
We're going to lap the field this season, aren't we?
I liked the post about tomorrow feasibly being the last ever. But then I am a bit of an old goth.
It’s a fact that tomorrow 2+2 will still equal 4.
