The other lad we have signed as a goalkeeper (he announced it on his 'socials') does demonstrate our attitude to that position. It appears we are attracting young 'keepers almost on an education basis. If one or even two turn out to have the right stuff we are all good to go. If they leave a better player and a better person they are winners and we have demonstrated to parents and agents(?) that we are a safe pair of hands - no pun.
I don’t disagree but what has slight confused me is why has Ainsworth made a comment about ‘ news’ on signing/s on Monday to fuel fans excitement. Surely a young goalkeeper is not really a major coup.
I didn't see the interview, as hanging off every player or manager's interview is a level of fandom I can't quite buy into.
But i'm sure someone did say Gaz said Monday was the expected day. Maybe it was delivered in a casual sort of "oh yeah we've got someone coming in then".
A lot of us get the whole principle of the development lot, and recognise it could be brilliant.
But you'd have to be a bit of a "glass not just full but utterly overflowing" to think anything more than "Ok, that's cool, wonder how he'll turn out".
That’s brilliant @ReturnToSenda. If it hadn’t been for @LeedsBlue’s comment I must admit it wouldn’t have registered with me and I bet there are plenty more Gasschooners over whose head it would have sailed.
he said we are going to invest and challenge for automatics , how do you do that if you lose 2 first team players and replace them with non league players ?
Well at this moment every team in League 1 is challenging for automatic promotion surely. If they aren’t going for the top two why bother putting a team on the field.
Also, there always seems to be at least one unexpected team who surprises everyone with a real strong showing.
@Wanderers82 if you write to the club and explain that your purchase was predicated on your approval of recruitment policy and that you take a dim view of the efforts of the manager and his staff, I am sure that they would be willing to offer you a refund.

Will Alan Swann be at the Alan Party?

Sorry, @TheAndyGrahamFanClub. Is the other goalkeeper someone other than Joe Blunkell?
Bishop will sign tomorrow!
Don't bring me into this.
Who are yer? Who are yer?
I think we've missed out on Bishop, hence the lack of any news.
He's taking a sabbatical ...
what a chance we had to do well this season, Rob why open your mouth and make these empty promises? treating fans like fools
He needs to get back and settled from Australia before we can announce him.

Monday is not over yet so who knows.
Did GA really say Monday or was it ‘early in the week’, which could also be Tuesday.
I think what we've had today is a lack of (ex) communication ...
At least he's not sailing back; there are some dire seas in that part of the world...
@ReturnToSenda Just too good...

I thought it was @Malone who told us Monday.

Definitely not.
I've been consistent with Bishop is signed but it's hard to tell when we'll announce it.
Announcing some kid keeper today is top class work from the club though. I did chuckle.
I mitre known someone would have a better outlook than me ...
Out of curiosity have you bought a season ticket this season only BECAUSE of a soundbite from RC?
had a ST last season also but bought earlier due to Robs empty promises
What are his empty promises exactly?
he said we are going to invest and challenge for automatics , how do you do that if you lose 2 first team players and replace them with non league players ?
37 days to go before the transfer window closes.
I'd much rather invest in development squad players than fling money, we don't have, about like confetti.
I'm pretty sure we will be challenging for automatic promotion - like about 10-12 other teams and anticate a top 6 finish even without another CB.
The only player we lack is a GK - and I don't know we haven't signed Bishop - so that might be sorted anyway
Why are you so negative @Wanderers82 ?
10-12 teams challenging for autos would be quite something!

Not sure what happened there but obviously something rendered me speechless.
