Some of the wording may be a little hyperbolic but the gist of the interview has the ring of truth about it.
It really demonstrates GAs respect for his employees and colleagues (in this case the Aberdeen manager) and suggests that he genuinely cares about the people who work for him and wants them to achieve the best they can.
just imagine how powerful that ‘message’ must be to a young (or even not-so-young) footballer looking for a new ‘home’.
another, in the increasingly long list, of reasons why we are privileged to have a man like GA as our manager.
I didn’t read it that way at all @mooneyman. I’m sure GA would quite rightly have been encouraging him to seize the opportunity to significantly improve his finances at a stage in his career when such opportunities are likely to be few and far between.
That's exactly how I read it, Anthony was offered a new deal as I understand it, which, if we no longer required his services would not have been placed on the table?
Yeah, I think he would if it was also a really good opportunity for their career. I've done the same as a boss, you'd have to be a bit of a prick not to.
Why sadly @bookertease ? From my understanding we offered him a new contract, but at the same time it is possible that it's part of GAs welfare strategy.
No @mooneyman, I’m not saying that. I can’t speak for Gareth Ainsworth. My comment reflected my perception that the offer made by Aberdeen to Anthony Stewart was very much in the interests of a player at a stage in his career when similar offers were likely to be few and far between. GA clearly also saw it in that context and saw no reason to stand in Anthony’s way. Hats off to him (yet again).
Jose Mourinho has stormed onto the pitch during a pre season friendly against Sunderland due to being unhappy with the tackles of Luke O’Nien 🤣 Luke massively pissing off the special one!
Former youth player Matt Nezval has left Manchester 62 in Gibraltar and returned to Australia, stepping up a few levels to the NPL Victoria (higher level than his last Australian team). Man62 gained a few headlines recently for partnering with a dementia charity and promising to wear protective headgear after their takeover by a US investor who also owned Pittsburgh City United stateside.
Pierre to Gillingham is close to happening. He's been mentioned a few times on here as a potential signing. I was a little surprised he's only 29. Goes to show how young he was when we got him from Brentford on loan all those years ago.
I think he'll be in L1 within a couple of years, whether with Hartlepool or someone else. Didn't show much for us, but dropping down to the NL seems to have done him the world of good.
I just read that ITV are trying to sign Bayo for I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here,i hope it's true as he'd be hilarious and unafraid of any challenge, i read it in The Sun online which means it's probably bollocks.

But they've got no fans?
I saw that video before it went viral 😎 They got him involved in the launch video for their new away kit actually

So are you saying Gareth would "encourage" any of our players to move if they were offered a better contract elsewhere?
Yeah, I think he would if it was also a really good opportunity for their career. I've done the same as a boss, you'd have to be a bit of a prick not to.
Sadly that probably accounts for 90% of bosses generally and 95% of football managers

I think he's saying 90% of bosses are pricks?
yep. That’s exactly what I’m saying. Tongue slightly in cheek (but probably not far in…)
Well, if you read it that way, give us a bloody thumbs up !!

A win for Anthony Stewart in his first competitive game as Aberdeen captain. A 2-0 win at Peterhead in the Scottish League Cup.

Jamie Turley has announced his retirement on Twitter.
Sir Colin Daniel signs for Scunthorpe (honorary ex-players count, right?)

Only 32 so that is really surprising.
Barnet's captain too wasn't he?

They should start shaping up as a decent league 2 outfit with another couple of signings of Pierre & Kashket's ilk.
Genuinely think they should look at Sido. Surely he could still do a decent job in league 2, especially next to an aerial beast like Pierre.
He's only playing a few miles down the road at Ebbsfleet too.
Hartlepool have signed Josh Umerah from Wealdstone for an undisclosed fee, on a two year deal.

Ben Frempah has signed for Enfield Town.

Think Olly Pendlebury played for Maidenhead today in their 1-0 win over Brentford’s B team. It looked like him anyway on the pics on twitter.
Hope so, that’d be a decent opportunity for him following the disappointment of being released by Reading and Wycombe. Good luck to the lad.

Good lad, and we'll always have that incredible 5mins away at Cheltenham.
But you look at how strong our centre mid is now, and think how far he'd be away from the team.
We all know he's the most famous lower league footballer ever, but if he got on a show like that it'd be unreal.
Could you imagine the tv career he'd forge outside of football.
Lol why did this get a thumb down?
We can all name at least 1 ultra negative poster. You suspect he's involved 🤣
