It'd be embarrassing enough if some spotty teenager put that out, nevermind a professional football club. Run by adults. Who don't rely on their mum giving them a lift everywhere.
The whole thing is disgusting, why on earth would a club like ours be involved in this sort of rubbish. Maybe @glasshalffull or @bluntphil could question this mocking of another club on our behalf? Questions need to be asked and an apology published.
You don't have to, just click on the link someone posted a page or so back.
Looked like something one of the "it's just banter" kids from the terrace would post mocking Stevenage's defending on the weekend, then we all realised it seems to be from an official club tiktok.
Unless we're missing something, being old bastads and that.
It is just (yes, somewhat immature) light hearted mockery of Stevenage's fans all expecting to win. Obviously very silly, but absolutely harmless. Clearly not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but about ten thousand times less offensive than Stevenage fans booing Leahy swallowing his tongue.
This is the same fanbase that loves opposition fans' views being read out in theatrical regional accents on RTB. No-one clutches their pearls over that, fearing some kind of karmic retribution! Not only that, but we have openly trolled other clubs on social media for years, which seems very popular with most of us. It's crazy to suddenly get offended over the same behaviour for the benefit of the young 'uns.
Clubs and fans make fun of each other all the time. Clubs get their own back all the time (hence the term "bragging rights") and on and on it goes. We mock Peterborough all the time with the 1.74, and still usually beat them! Should we have a government investigation into that horrific lack of grace, class and decorum?
I understand what you are saying @Shev and always respect your views but if it was from an official source then it is not something I think we should be getting involved in. I can understand supporters taking the rise out of each other and that is something different.
Maybe being an oldie, I am over sensitive about this type of thing but it doesn’t feel nice to me.
The media team have been guilty of this before and made to look like complete tw#ts. I remember the Brentford 7-2 game, a tweet going out. Quite pathetic
Part of my point was that we have been mocking other clubs on our official social media for years, usually to huzzahs all around. I am not sure why this very silly video, clearly aimed at a young demographic, is any worse than all of that much-celebrated twitter trolling?
To get offended about this is like listening to Michael Bolton for years and then getting offended at Mr Blobby putting out a low quality song!
Now I am going to say 99 controversial and unpopular things just to rope you in on the percentages. 😁
Agree to disagree, I suppose. To me there is just a disconnect between the level of silliness of the video compared to the sombre reaction. I can understand not liking it, just the level of deadly seriousness about it is strange to me.
It would be funny if Stevenage complained, though. Can you imagine the EFL reprimanding us over the "boink" sounds as Kone lobs their keeper?
It’s not me being offended but I just feel that things like this, if from an official source, are just going to come back and bite us in the backside. That’s my point really.
Fair enough. Part of my point is that we have been mocking other clubs on our official source for years, with glasses raised all over. I am just trying to figure out what changed.
I do realize that maybe I am less sympathetic because I mock other clubs in writing constantly for that august fanzine we all know and love, so it seems fair game! In fact...(writes notes for next satire).
It's not offensive as such, it just feels a bit pathetic, as every club will have idiot online fans who write us off. You have to rise above this stuff, let the football talk. And my word it's talking loudly at the moment.
I much favour the Gaz method - talk up the opposition, say what a great job xxx is doing, how great their club is, and not leave even a morsal they can work off to give them extra motivation.
I mean, not EVERY team we played could possibly have a great manager, team and history - that always made me laugh.
I agree broadly, as far as how the manager should approach it. Blooms has been the same way. I remember playing someone dire earlier in the season and he could not help himself saying "We know X are a very good side" though very sheepishly.
I also think most clubs will separate the manager and players from the media team. If Stevenage beat us at AP later in the season, they may all run over and cup their ears at the media team...but I am not putting money on it.
I feel like the stuff on twitter about 1.74 etc is more subtle than this TikTok. It’s not attacking any given player or manager, just a club as a whole, so it’s less personal and only those who follow us and Posh would even get most of it (for the 1.74 example). This just feels low effort and very personal to me - no need to attack individual players or opposition fans. Even the regional accents department only takes usernames, so they can be anonymous, and definitely doesn’t show other fan’s faces (as that TikTok did)
These are the supporters who booed Leahy swallowing his tongue and still joke about it. But I join you in hoping we have not forever wounded their sensitive souls!
Feels a little like we are feeling bad over a Polish sniper having moderate success in WW2, but agree to disagree.

I was thinking about that the other day. You tell the kids of today that, they'll never believe you!
It'd be embarrassing enough if some spotty teenager put that out, nevermind a professional football club. Run by adults. Who don't rely on their mum giving them a lift everywhere.
It was good in its day, but the idea of having to click into 50 messages individually in one thread feels absolutely mad now.
Yep, that "Our house" stuff was borderline and we looked absolutely daft when Sunderland smashed us a few times after and brought it up.
But this sort of mocking other clubs in official channels is bizarre.
Let's hope the "proper" people are currently off and this was some kid on work experience or something.
You let LX1 do a TikTok???!!!
they’re great for bad breath
Young people?

I don't have Tiktok, what happened?

@Shev are you telling me those aren’t recordings of the actual opposition fans commenting on RTB’s!?
Part of my point was that we have been mocking other clubs on our official social media for years, usually to huzzahs all around. I am not sure why this very silly video, clearly aimed at a young demographic, is any worse than all of that much-celebrated twitter trolling?

Normally agree with you @Shev on 99% of things, but this one just feels utterly pointless.
We're near the top of the league, on the crest of a wave, who cares what a bunch of little anonymous oiks at Stevenage reckon?
Have to find something to moan about when we're 19 unbeaten, eh?
Now I am going to say 99 controversial and unpopular things just to rope you in on the percentages. 😁

It won't play, never mind! Unfortunately the banter approach seems to have become standard.

You'd probably chuckle if one of the drone army put it up on the facebook page.
But when you consider it's come from a paid employee of our club, presumably an adult, on an official club channel you do think wow.
It's not offensive as such, it just feels a bit pathetic, as every club will have idiot online fans who write us off. You have to rise above this stuff, let the football talk. And my word it's talking loudly at the moment.

In fairness, i expect very few of us even realised we had a tiktok page.
It's probably genius marketing
"get something silly on the tiktok that'll get those old bumheads on the gasroom flapping and get those engagement figures up"
Ironically (seeing as I defended it) that may be the first time I have ever even viewed TikTok. For all I know we are fomenting revolution on there.

I didn’t even know what it was, I just followed the link. Silly old me 🤦.
