Goalkeeper situation needs sorting in the summer. Ravizolli has been ok, but hit and miss. Would take him as backup next season, but not as a number 1, I think we need a new one as Max will depart. If we are targeting promotion next season we need a new number one.
Another floaty cross tonight that had Rav rooted to his line, costing us a goal.
I totally agree. Ravs has a very agreeable personality and clearly works hard, but does not command the area at crosses at all. There was another floater over him in the first half that he watched sail instead of come for.
I think it will be up to Taffazoli as to whether he wants to stay or not. Although Forino, Low and Longwijk have all played well at times, when we’ve had success this season, the common denominator within the centre half pairing has been Taff - we win when he’s paired up with either of the other 3.
To suggest Low is “better” than Taff, right now, is ludicrous in my opinion. Forino has just come into form the last 5 games or so as he’s out of contract next week, Longwijk has been very good since arriving but we have no chance of re-signing realistically.
I was a bit surprised Shepherd didn’t start last night. Of the four keepers on our books his status is the most up in the air. You can’t see a way back for Max, Shala is under contract and I think Rav will be here next season competing with a new signing.
I hope everyone realizes that this whole drama is in reality agent Max going to L2 to knock the plastics out of the playoffs with a performance for the ages.
One thing that I've noticed is that Nigel Lonwijk has been very active on Twitter (or X) since he joined to promote the club. We haven't seen this from Dale Taylor or Freddie Potts (they might have done on other platforms) but it makes me think why would he be so busy on there? Has he "fallen in Love" with the club or is it trying to get himself noticed for the transfer window?
The fact we are being linked with moves for players valued at six figures would suggest that there are no plans to cut our playing budget over the summer.
The point about it being a seven day emergency loan isn't that it can't be renewed, which it clearly has, but that it can't be terminated sooner.
So, for instance, if we had suffered a goalkeeper injury crisis we couldn't have called him back from the loan early (nor in each of the successive 7 day periods).
Yes I know. But someone could easily read the club’s tweet and assume he would be back after seven days. Because the tweet says it is a seven day loan.
Don't offer these straws to be clutched at, @Otter87 - you just know it'll end in tears...
But if Nigel's here next season, we are Champions - simple as... Not because he's a one-man team, but because if we manage to sign such a colossus, then we must really mean business.
Emergency loan deals shall be for a period of seven days and may be renewed for seven days at a time.
To my knowledge, if the club doesn't have a fit goalkeeper that has played 5 or more first team games, they are eligible for an emergency loan. When all professional goalkeepers are injured, their fitness is assessed by an independent doctor.
@Malone I’m not one of these “come on then, let’s have a wager” types, but I think it’s a fair enough general point I was making. I mean, if we are going to move heaven and earth to get Nige plying his trade in League One next year, we’re not going to then say, “right, that’ll do. Those who are left can just play around him...”
“Steady on” is the reply to comments like “Vokes’ legs have gone”... or “no-one can claim they were still with Bloomfield at half-time versus Fleetwood”... 😁
I just find it very interesting. The only other squad member who i very active on X (Twitter) is GMac so it might just be his influence working on him?

I meant Taffs - I don't know Forino's situation either way.
Surely Taf is out because he’s the 4th best centreback we have.

That is possible too - which is a massive compliment to the other three, as Taff is no mug!

Max's loan was for a week. But he didn't make the bench and no mention of him returning

It would be a shame if Shepperd didn't stay long enough for people to spell his name right.
If he spells his own name wrong I can’t be held responsible.
Haha, fair point well argued
Not sure I understand this post but Stryjek is still on loan at Crewe and likely to play in the play-offs
I hope everyone realizes that this whole drama is in reality agent Max going to L2 to knock the plastics out of the playoffs with a performance for the ages.
Likely the confusion is because the emergency loan was announced as a week and there have been no further updates.
No doubt he’ll be there until they have a fit goalkeeper or up to the end of their season.
Takes his Crewe shirt off after the game to reveal a Wycombe one. We can hope and dream

Having relegated ColU on Saturday. Come in agent Max.

Emergency loans are reviewed every seven days due to the rules. All the comment has been Crewe’s first choice is out for rest of the season.
The fact we are being linked with moves for players valued at six figures would suggest that there are no plans to cut our playing budget over the summer.
He'd probably need to stay 4 or 5 years by the evidence of some spelling on here!
It's ironic to think about when I have not seen a single spelling mistake with Lomtadze so far!
We both know that but I can understand why someone would read this and think the loan would have ended after seven days

Steady on old son.
