What a cackhanded way of dealing with the situation
you would normally expect the negotiations for the extension to take place well in advanced and behind closed doors. This does add fuel to the rumour that something was up. E.g. money hasn’t changed hands when it should’ve done
Looks like Arriva called the Couhigs' bluff. Given all the high-minded words from the chairman about Derby County, you'd hope the club would be paying local contractors and making extra sure cheques don't get lost in the post.
myself and two others would catch the football special bus from the bottom of our road. (we lived in the Bowerdean area.) I believe the bus started in Micklefield and went up Hicks farm rise to where we lived. Then it went via Hamilton Road up through Downley it was a double-decker bus and was packed by the time it got to the ground.
it was one of several routes , and then one by one, they were axed because of insufficient demand! How are you can have insufficient demand when the buses were full up is beyond me
The most recent posts on this thread underline the dangers of social media. Arriva, not WWFC, announce that their current deal is ending, and suddenly there’s a rush to blame the club even though no one has any idea of what negotiations have been going on. That then becomes an accusation that ‘it looks like Arriva have called the Couhig’s bluff’ and an inference that delayed payments led to ‘the chef’ leaving. I suspect that no one has any evidence to substantiate these claims.
But you must understand the saying "There's no smoke without fire"? By allowing the contract to run down RC has allowed this situation to develop and pure speculation fills the void.
It was always so in these situations except now, rather than a couple of mates chatting over a pint, it's all over social media.
I would expect you, @glasshalffull, to understand that and so ought RC. Do you really expect fans to sit there and say "Oh well, there must be a perfectly innocent explanation for this turn of events"?
That would be truly naive of fans of WWFC and the kind of head in the sand approach we all felt supporters of Derby had taken.
Those posts constituted a very poor quality war of words. Couhigs apparently cannot even have a proper fight with suppliers on social media. They need to up their game. Obviously trouble behind the scenes. No wonder the chef left. Embarrassing missed opportunity for the club there.
Glory days. Used to have a similar scenario from the end of my road. Brilliant for midweek where the last thing you want is a mile walk to your car on some freezing evening.
Felt sorry for a couple of old boys who took the same route.
I'm hearing that a big sponsorship deal with a Kazakh oil concern will see it revived, with not just the station service, but also buses to Stokenchurch, Amersham, Flackwell Heath and Almaty.
I believe the money is in fintec so an Uber like service with driverless vehicles complimented by a premium drone service for early post match getaway is a given.
If Arriva really haven't been paid as rumour suggests, it's disgraceful. I really hope it isn't true.
If anything were to epitomise contempt for both the fanbase and the local business community from the current ownership, it would be this. A vital service to get people into the ground, a business providing local amenities, both fucked.
What on earth are the club playing at? They can't be completely blinded by the 'Worldwide Wycombe Phenomenon' can they? Revenue/ viewing figures from which have never actually been published...

ie... uncle Rob has heard about the unrest and has decided to pay the outstanding bill

Why do you think the last Chef left

There's nothing wrong with dreaming about buses
I went ages without any dreams about buses and then two came along at once
LOL
If this isn’t Post Of The Day then I do not know what is!
A war of words between a bus operator and a football club. If that doesn’t put 1,000 on the gate tomorrow, what will?
I can see the BFP headline already if this gets sorted out…. “It’s BUSiness As Usual”.
BLUES OR BUSSED?
As if. There are newborn babies with more creative nous than the BFP.

Pmsl. Superb

Surely by now you know people getting furious over half or even less of a story is what forums are about.
I’d get the bus company in to increase attendances, especially in the Frank Adams, “Plenty of room upstairs”.
Has there been any further information as to whether the bus service will run in future?

Did they find an oil field under the terrace?

Oh and of course the chairlift is a shoe in!

No further deal with Arriva.
Karen Adams posted on Facebook that she will now struggle to get to games.
Not a good state of affairs.
Get Motts on the case.
I think they might want to be paid.
