True, but with Kone and Vokes already off the mark, I don't think it is a stretch to imagine something like a league total of:
Kone 12
Udoh 9
Leahy 9 (on pens)
Vokes 7
Hanlan 4
GMac 4
Butcher 4
Sadlier 4
Own Goal 4
Bakinson 3
Scowen 2
Low 2
Tafazolli 1
Grimmer 1
Hartridge 1
...which would give us 67 goals, much more than the 60 of last season. I think most of the numbers on the list above are quite conservative, too. Obviously all conjecture, but more as an illustration that we seem to have plenty of potential goals in-house.
He had one very good season at Shrewsbury and one good season at Shrewsbury. He impressed me on Saturday, so hopefully there’s a few more very good seasons in there.
I’d also forgotten Bez, so maybe we don’t need anyone else.
Kone has 10 goal contributions in 1000 professional minutes. For those mathematically challenged, that’s nearly one per game.
Udoh has over 150 League 1 appearances.
Hanlan has over 200 League 1 appearances.
That’s far more firepower than we’ve had for as long as I can remember; much better than relying on a 35+ year old Bayo and an unproven Alex Samuel who couldn’t hit a barn door.
It speaks volumes of him that 10th last season was slightly disappointing, because he raised the floor so high. Blooms just had our 6th best ever season, and a hand in our 5th best (though really he took us downward from when GA left) and yet his 9th and 10th places still seem like "room for improvement". If someone told us upon the 2017/18 promotion that 10th in L1 could be faintly disappointing, we'd have wondered what was going on!
Absolutely correct, @Twizz. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread (?), he recently wrote a piece in Four Four Two magazine about Wycombe’s prospects in the coming season.

It's the mowing season or @eric_plant has upset him!
I'm sure @micra will correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't @flymofrank work in the sport journalism/ statistics profession?
Quite right that he doesn't also spend his spare time on forums discussing football.
Assume Mr flymo, as per Mr Wendover have just chosen to take a well earnt break over the close season.
Always the risk they find that they quite like not having to post, but hopefully back soon.
At least you are still on here @Malone 👍
I'm pleased to hear that. I hadn't found a trace of him on social media either, so was beginning to get a bit worried.
If only to keep me oldest son @micra in check
Ballard has joined Blackpool on loan.
Ouch for Reading fans
Kudoa linked to a number of clubs as well as Exeter. Cheltenham are all said to be close.
I wonder if we're not in the market for a striker, or if the Martin/Blooms connection isn't as close as we hoped it was.
i would very much doubt we are in the market for a centre forward given the players we already have in that position.
Without a player going out for sure.
i think Kone or Udoh would have to be sold for that to happen. Which isn’t going to happen.
Agree with the lack of need for a striker. We need CB cover, LB cover, midfield cover, and a GMac alternative.
Feels like we're expecting a lot from an aging Vokes, a green Kone, an unproven Udoh and a recovering Hanlan.
Udoh is a PROVEN striker at this level!

Are we?
Vokes is ex-PL.

‘much better than relying on a 35+ year old Bayo and an unproven Alex Samuel who couldn’t hit a barn door.’
Terrible stuff.
Agreed - last time I checked, Bayo + Samuel is the only Wycombe strikeforce that has won us promotion to the Championship.
I didn’t disclose my opinion of either player. I matched your exaggerative tone to highlight the extent to which I disagree with you.
Yeh but at least mine had an alliteration.
I forgot Bez too - and Wheels! I would put our over/under around 67-70 goals with this lot.
I’d rather have a 35 year old Bayo tbh
Yep, arguably the most efficient couple of options we've ever had, under the most efficient manager we've ever had.
Roll on a few years, play a few passes more than under Gazball and people try and diminish the past.
Gaz put a team together, raised the team spirit and got us to the Championship…the greatest! Good luck wherever he goes next.

I notice Arthur Read started for ColU on Saturday and came off the bench this evening.
I think your second paragraph is absolutely key. Goes right to the heart of the Wycombe way/culture/philosophy.
