There’s plenty of riches out there. Alfie May was always going to be out of our price range had the potential to be too many eggs in one basket for me.
We all love our club. It is a wonderful club. But...it is not really a destination club. We often have to wait for a bit of musical chairs for players to come in (unless they have played for us before, in which case they come running back into our blessed arms).
I am nowhere near the middle of my seat on signings right now, let alone the edge of it.
On another note, is there better transfer related slang than "swoop"? I was reading how QPR might swoop in for Gape, and I felt rather envious - it is so much more glamorous for someone to swoop in for you, rather than just hiring you!
As a Johnny come lately to the party, without all the baggage of great and not-so-great previous seasons, I'm on the same page of optimism as Rob Couhig.
We're going to announce a raft of new signings in early July, which will excite the Gasroom.
36 points from the first 15 matches will see us occupying the auto promotion positions, then a bit of a slump mid-season with only 22 from the next 15, and a flourishing finish with 35 points from the last 16 games to leave us on 91 points, and easily in the top 6 if not top 2.
Thanks @Malone that makes me feel better. I don't recall everyone being so confident about Gaz and/or survival that post Torquay season myself but I'll take your word for it😉
I'm already feeling better than some of the doom mongers and nay sayers on this board.
I don't think many of our key players would have signed up for another season, if there were doubts about the club's intention to recruit quality additions to the squad over the summer.
(For the avoidance of doubt I am in the ‘it’s the middle of the summer* and there’s a cracking test match going on and I’m not remotely worried if we have or haven’t signed anyone yet’ camp. We’ll be fine)
It’s the lack of charisma on the management side that concerns me (and also amongst the players to some extent, following the departures over the last six months) but it’s far too early to worry too much about next season. I’m going to defer further comment until at least half a dozen players have been signed.
I'm not too concerned about next season. I think it is MCLEARY to see that our transfer window often BLOOMS later on into pre season. Hopefully by the time we play the TAFFs, we will be at our MAX. We are a YOUNG side and will need the seniors to take the young players under their WING. There is a GAPEing hole in our squad now that will need filling, but no sweat my friends, FORINO that we will spend D'MANI and OBITA our rivals to sign the players that we need. Its SCOWEN to be a long pre season for all of us, but this management team gets my VOKES of confidence. I get the feeling it's going to be a WHEELER exciting season. February gives us a GRIMMER run of fixtures, but going forWARD I'm confident we will SKURA few goals, finish high up the table and all celebrate at the end of the season in DE BARR.

The post Torquay season.
That was an utterly incredible window.
Pierre, Hayes Jombati, JJ and Murphy.
And Mawson as a finishing touch for the first game.
And Paris CH.

My expectations are; mid-table, decent cup run, a run of wins in March/April that we can later refer to as our ‘play off surge.’

I'm assuming we've arranged quite a few deals already and they'll be announced at the Open day (or whatever the official name is).
And outside of this there will be a couple we have to wait late doors in the window as per usual.

I don’t recall the last time we swooped. Stooped perhaps (and not necessarily to conquer!)

We definitely swooped for Steve Thompson. As transfer swoops go that was one of my favourites. A red kite of a swoop.
I’ll have some of what you are on @bargepole 😁

What about tripped and face planted?
No-one was predicting being top 3 then play off finals but from those signings it was clear we wouldn't be close to struggling.
Hope you feel better soon…

Keep the faith!
Not sure Oliver Goldsmith thought about that scenario!
You’ll learn lad. You’ll learn…

Really? Probably not!
Cole Stockton to Burton is a decent signing. I would have quite liked him in the quarters.
Come on Bloomers, give us something to talk about!!!!!
Then they would not be rumours. We need a Fact Mill thread.
Good point
Subjective?
Obita to Hibs perhaps?

This would be disappointing from my perspective, as I really have come to think highly of Obita.
Decent left wing backs are hard to come across, but maybe we're not going for that approach next season anyway.
I assume we've got a few signings lined up and want to reveal them at the open day.
I hope so anyway.

Two year deal. Good luck Jord.
We really need more than a few and the open day seems a bit late to me but what do I know.
